I just got the Humble Indie Bundle, and have been having a problem with Hammerfight. The mouse escapes from the window, making the game very difficult to play, as half of my mouse input is directed to the desktop, and half to the game. Is there a fix for this?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've just recently begun to have a problem with my mouse. I can use it normally in one window, but it will not click outside of this window. I cannot use the title bar buttons either. It seems like right clicking "frees" the mouse, but then it just gets stuck in the next window I open.

Well, I've been using ubuntu for a few months now and i love it. today the mouse cursor turned into a X and the windows doesn't have title bars, i can't swtich between apps using the alt+tab method, the show desktop button doesn't work, cannot minimize applications. long story short, i can't do anything.Wish i could provide anymore clues, but i have no idea how to diagnose.

I have compiz config settings manager and I did some changes there but I've noticed now that for example when a skype chat window is open and when I move my mouse pointer away, the window disappears. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Fedora 11 KDE on a Dell D600 laptop. After using it for awhile, my mouse seems to stop responding to clicks. I can move the cursor and xeyes seems to follow that around, but when I click, it seems like its focus is stuck in one place. For example, if I'm using firefox, I can use the navigation buttons, but I can't get focus on a textbox or click on the panel to switch windows. When I close firefox through the keyboard, the focus goes to the next window and I have a similar problem.
I actually switched to Fedora from Mint because I was having the same problem there and I was unable to find a solution. Restarting the window manager fixes the problem, but it comes back after a little while.

Cool little feature, but I'm curious if I can move it to a different corner of the screen. Does anyone know how I can move it, or at least disable it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFresh install of Debian 8.1, have not changed a single setting anywhere. Was scrolling in the web browser and noticed that if I scrolled up or down fast enough the active window changes. Using kde as the desktop environment. Also this has nothing to do with the browser as it happens with anything I have open. Heck trying to scroll in console and having a document open just flips between the two of them. Only way this does not happen is if I scroll slow enough.

I've seen Dwell Click under accessibility options, but that doesn't seem to do anything. I know that sometimes the GUI control applets have features undisabled that don't really do anything (i.e. WINS) if you don't have the right stuff installed. How do I get mouse over pretty much just simulate clicking the window.

I had the functionality of when my mouse left the active window it would fade and any window behind it I moused over would come into focus. I liked this feature, but I broke it somehow. I was playing around with Compiz and all its cool animations, cube transitions, and other stuff. I am not sure if I did something in Compiz to break it or if that is unrelated.
View 3 Replies View RelatedRunning firefox in a SELinux sandbox - periodically the mouse refuses to leave the sandbox (i.e., gets stuck in the browser, refusing to traverse across the window border onto the desktop). This usually happens once in a while, though periodically once every 15 mins or so - no particular pattern, no pattern in the websites visited either.
The setup is as follows:
- Fedora 15 with a bare metal X install (TWM, desktop locked down ala a kiosk install - I will try a different wm to see if that makes any difference at some point)
- VPN (having been through a few VPN providers not all are equal, and this is a pretty good one, running OpenVPN at the mo. - I will try L2TP when I get round to it)
- Firewall locked down to the max.
- As far as reasonably can be done, no direct access to the machine - the install at least in theory is untainted
Does anyone know of a SELinux forum? Can't see anything myself or at least in the first instance.
I'm assuming this is a MITM problem - largely 'cos I have crime sitting on my (Internet) ass. Same problem with SL6 also, so not Fedora specific. I shall put the security spin into a VM and develop my network engineer skills at some point!
I am using Fedora11/Gnome and I frequently use several windows for input. I would like to focus on a window just by moving the mouse over it (but not pop up). However, I can not find anywhere to set up this option.
View 12 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading from 10.10 to 11.04, at first everything worked fine. Then i changed the compiz configuration to cube, confirmed some questions, and now i have no window decorations. No icons for close, minimize, maximize. No resizing by mouse. No title bar.
In the launcher, i lost applications and files&?, and in the top menu bar, i lost the leftmost part, where some menus and the Ubuntu icon were found.
One of those things that make yo go "WTF?" After browsing the internet with Firefox, there appears a peculiar problem: if I move the pointer to a certain area of the screen, I can't click (left, right, middle) nor use mouse wheel. The area can be of variable size, but usually it's small, in the lower part of the screen, it's x dimension greater than y one (a horizontally placed rectangle). The problem doesn't go away when I restart Firefox (obviously it does when I reboot). It obstructs any window under it (I can't even click on the desktop where 'it' is). It's as if there is an invisible window that 'steals' focus when I move the mouse over it. I'm on 11.04, Classic Ubuntu (Gnome 2.3x).
A quick UPDATE: dragging an icon and dropping it on the said area behaves as if I dragged an item and dropped it where it doesn't belong (i.e. it just slowly returns to it's original position). Also, I tried killing it with Force Quit applet, but only my desktop reloaded.
The only way I know is to use exit command to come out.
Is there some way to close the Xterm windows using the GUI (the mouse pointer)? Killing a lot of windows would be easier that way.

I installed today debian wheezy from OpenSUSE system via bootstrap. I have some strange behaviour with kde. At first kde worked fine and the only problem was that if I tried to logout from kde session, instead of kdm shows up, a black screen appear with mouse cursor working. I first ignore this error(because I had some problems with audio) and just reboot from vt console or sometimes restart kdm service. After I solved the audio problem I've searched to find some solution about kdm black screen problem. I found on kde forums a solution about terminate xserver option on kdmrc file, which didn't work in my case, but create another problem.
The problem is that now when I pass the mouse cursor from windows topbars I have glitches on window decorations. So I disable the above option again, reboot but the graphics problems was still there. I tried to uncheck vsync from desktom effects and the resault was all desktop effects to be disabled. Now I cannot re-enable desktop effects any more. But now I can logout and relogin. 3D works fine(glxgears works) but I cannot enable desktop effects. And I think that some effects work, because I see some smooth movements and fade outs when I pass the mouse cursor on kmenu items. My card is ATI radeon HD 4650, and I have the xorg-video-ati driver installed.
I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my HP Pavilion a320n computer with a ps2 mouse and the mouse pointer points with the bottom of the mouse and not the upper tip of the point. It does the same thing with Ubuntu 10.04.1. In Windows 7 and XP the mouse is normal. I don't know how I could adjust it or is this just a bug in the OS?

What I want is my window controls to be on the right side of the window when the window is in full screen mode.
Also I've had an issue with the Unity dockbar glitching out. I can still click on the buttons (i.e. the logout button) but it displays like a nintendo game inserted crooked. Is there a way to 'restart' unity without log out/ log in?
Any one else experienced any glitches with unity auto hiding/showing?
I have asked for a video capturing software before but recommend a GOOD screen recorder where you can select the window/window size the axis and also a good editing software which will render/export into FULL 720p HD
View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm not sure for using the correct channel here but i hope someone out there can answer my little questions. 1st in older version i was able to change the settings of the terminal look as the font color, background color and so on. I was also able to define a default window size of a new terminal window. But since after upgrading to to the first release this year and a complete new installation of the current release Maverick i do not find this option anymore. Is there a way how to set up the terminal default window size?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIf you don't know, users are able to quickly resize windows using the "ALT+MiddleClick" key shortcut/combo. Basically, hold the ALT key, and mouse middle click and hold on a window. Move the mouse around, and it will resize the window for you.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1) Open a single Window.
2) Near the bottom-right-hand corner of the window, ALT+MiddleClick and drag. It should resize. Great. It works.
What Doesn't Work:
Now, the problem arises when you have multiple windows open on the desktop, they are "layered". i.e. you might have several windows open "behind" the one currently "up front". Example:
If I try to ALT+MiddleClick the "foreground window", it rarely actually resizes THAT window, and instead jumps one of the windows from behind to the front, and resizes that one instead!
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1) Open 3x gnome-terminal windows and say some nautilus window. Place them overtop one another. (like the above image)
2) Try to ALT+MiddleClick the foreground window.
3) Repeat this always trying to grab the foreground window.

I recently upgraded the motherboard/processor on my computer (as in quadrupled the processor and octupled the ram). The new board has a built in GPU (intel) and from searching the forums, I think this is part of the problem. Every time I boot up the computer, I need to open the Compiz icon and use it to reload the window manager before I see any title bars, borders, etc. 've tried the .bashrc hack (metacity --replace), but that doesn't do anything. In fact, whenever I open the terminal, I need to have two tabs open in order to use it, and when I close it all the borders go away again (even when I haven't done anything). Also, the onboard sound card (intel) doesn't work, but that's another task (I at least have a compatible card for that).

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy system boots, I login and am brought to my desktop. I click on the file system icon in the launcher to open a Nautilus window. The window opens, but is unresponsive (i.e., I can't move it, clicking on the icons does nothing, etc.). If I press the super key to get the dash and the press escape, the window becomes responsive again, just like normal.
If I open a folder in the window, the window becomes halfway unresponsive in that I can't move the window, but I can select more folders and toolbar icons. The top menu no longer appears at this point, and I can't access any of the system icons on the top right of the screen. Alt-F4 closes the window even if the close button doesn't work.As another example, suppose I open a Nautilus window and then a Chromium window. Both are immediately unresponsive. If I super-esc again, I can move the Chromium window around, and it seems to work normally. I can click on the Nautilus window, but it always stays greyed out. Even if I'm clicking on things in it, the Chromium window always has focus.
I had a similar experience to this with VLC and Chromium. After clicking around enough I eventually got it to the point where VLC apparently always had focus, but I couldn't access any of VLC's controls. Double clicking anywhere on the screen fullscreened the video, and that's all I could really do. Not even escape worked to bring it back.I can usually press super to get the dash and Alt-F2 to get a command prompt. Also Alt-Shift-T seems to usually work to bring up a working Terminal (at least one that accepts commands, even if I can't move the window).Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? The behavior is highly unpredictable and extremely frustrating. I should note that key commands don't always work, even though they seem to in my examples. So I don't think it's just a mouse issue.
