Ubuntu :: Make Downthemall Support Restart Reget?

I always use downthemall which is a addon of firefox to download files. but recently i found it can't support reget(after restart the computer).
the thing was that i wanted to down load a file which was named ubuntu-10.04-dvd-i386.iso. it is 4GB. and
i couldn't finish it at one time. so i paused the download and closed the windows and shutdown the machine.
the next day when i turned on the computer and open downthemall to continue my download, but i found that
it restart from zero. all my download was wasted. how to fix it?

I am using Firefox 4 on Linux with the DownThemAll extension. On random occasions DownThemAll will start on its own against my will, such as:
When I press Enter after entering a link in the address bar
When I click an entry from the address bar
When I click a link on a page
One possible solution might be to remove DownThemAll and reinstall it. However removing the extension doesn't clear any of its settings, so I am stuck.

just can't find the answer for this one (after Google and these forums) So I want to configure my Synaptics touchpad in this fashion:

So, the "FastTaps" part works flawlessly (as intended). However, the corners bit doesn't work after system reboot!...and weird enough, if I set up a start up script with that bit of code on it it'll only remap the last two corners (LT and LB), because RT and RB always get automatically set to "2" and "3". It's obvious then that those corners are getting remaped somewhere I haven't found yet. I've already tried ppa:yurivkhan/ppa and adding new options to "usr/lib/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-synaptics.conf" to no avail either. how to make the remap of touchpad corners permanent? P.S. - I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS with Macbuntu.

I am wondering how to add a need to restart notification in a Debian package, so upon installation, it'd pop up something to tell the user to restart the computer for changes to take effect. Perhaps something like what happens with some packages through the update-manager when it prompts the user to restart for the changes to take effect.
Is there any way to do that? Perhaps adding something at the end of a "postinst" file?
Thinking about it, I could just add something like this at the end of the "postinst" file:

notify-send -t 86400000 -i /usr/share/icons/gnome/32x32/status/info.png "Please restart the computer for all changes to take effect."
It'd work, but not as well. For instance, if the person isn't by their computer at the time.
Another option could be using a Zenity dialog box. That might work. Though, if done, wouldn't a yes/no question box keep the actual package from technically finishing until the user would select yes/no to restart?

My network is windows pppoe. How can I configure it for Fedora 11? Is there any graphical configuration tool available for that? Also, ubuntu 9.04 logs into pppoe network after restarting as I've made some changes in /etc/network/interfaces. One of those odd things I learned the hard way is that if you are writing a shared object (library/.so) and any programs that will link to that library uses floating point numbers, the library must be compiled as if it uses floating point numbers. What that really means is, you need to declare at least one float in the source for the library or when the caller connects and tries to run code in the library, the process aborts.I end up putting a float pi (3.1415); in the code and getting an unused variable warning all the time. There has to be a simpler way, some flag to pass to g++ that says, "include floating point support even if you don't really need to."
p.s. Gosh I hope I remembered this correctly. I encountered this problem doing a multi-platform build for Windows and Linux. This COULD be a VC++ problem that I just carried into Linux by using the same source.

Using a default terminal and bash, there is no functionality to search the standard output of commands.
One can gain such functionality using other tools, like emacs shell or screen, but I am wondering why such a useful feature is missing, I do remember a simple C-F used to work in terminals.
Is there a way to make the Gnome terminal app support output search? or is there a better terminal app that support searching output natively?

I want to add a Lacie external drive to x64 box with SL55, but it has only Firewire interface. After searching a bit the net I could not find a working solution how to make the PCI card and the drive recogizable by the system, even if I removed Firewire from RHEL blacklist. The system does not see this piece of hardware. Does anyone has a positive experience with RHEL/SL with that issue? Similar trends search lists only quite old treads - ane recent experience?

I have just finished the upgrade of the latest version and I'm at the point of my system restating.
My system automatically tried to restart but on the restart I got the 'terminal' view. It stopped when asking for my username (it never normally asks for this before the grub menu) and then password. I didn't get any further than that.
I now have on my screen (still in the terminal view before the grub menu)
"name@name-desktop:...$ "
I'm on my phone now so I don't actually have the symbol for before the dollar sign but your know what it is. The raised S on a 90 degree angle.

I have a suspend problem in my laptop. Sometimes, when resuming from suspend, the network adapter is down (that is, the network does not work and the light of the network adapter is off). Restarting the network service doesn't work, because I think that the system forgot about the hardware, and probably the driver should be reloaded.Does anyone knows how to do that?(ps. /etc/init.d/networking restart does not work, because the hardware driver is not being recognized anymore).

Whenever I choose "Restart" from the GDM screen, GDM appears to shutdown, and the first TTY is displayed with a login prompt at the bottom (assuming I haven't used that TTY). I am by no estimation a patient individual, but I waited a solid minute or two for something to happen, but nothing ever did. I end up logging in as root on that TTY and running "shutdown -r now" to get the job done. This is a shared computer, and ideally any user should be able to perform shutdown options graphically from GDM.The only mentioned workaround doesn't apply to me as I am using the nvidia driver, not intel.

I'm trying to find out when QME2572 (Qlogic) card became support by the kernel. We have a RHEL 5.1 system that is moving to new hardware, however the kernel at this release doesn't support the new hardware, due to the Qlogic card change. I tired the Redhat KB and Bugzilla. Is there a Kernel change list etc I can search. Never really played around with the kernel too much so I'm just after some pointers for looking up this information. Offically its not supported until Redhat 5.3, I'm trying trying to research kernel info so I can tell the customer they have to upgrade.

I'm looking to dual-boot Windows 7 and Debian 6 upon its release on my sister's laptop. I want to share a partition between the two of them so that /home points to this directory and the Windows equivalent also points to it (C:Users).
Anyway, I've heard good and bad things about the NTFSMount driver (I think it's NTFS-3G now) and the NTFSprogs project and so I am not so certain what I should believe. I do know that NTFS has relatively high overhead, though I do not recall the source of this assertion, so I am considering the use of EXFAT. An open source EXFAT project is hosted on Google Code at [url] and it utilizes the kernel module FUSE.
I'm quite certain that I've got everything covered on the Windows side -- that is, I know that both NTFS and EXFAT will be suitable filesystems for my required usage.
My issue is that I'm curious which will have superior performance and stability in Debian. I planned on building the package from source and mounting the device in my FSTAB but I have also found a PPA for Ubuntu on Launchpad at [url] that I could borrow the debian/rules from and make a .deb package from.
What do you guys think? Should I go at it with the EXFAT or NTFS partitioning? Is NTFS-3G actually fairly supported at this point? Or perhaps should I consider some alternate method?
I have also considered that the only files she will be sharing are those of music, videos, and pictures so it could be better to just link /home/xxxx/Pictures (Music and Videos, too) to the new partition instead of all of /home.

I need a textbrowser with Javascript Support. I have compiled the elinks stable 0.11x and the unstable 0.12x version mit JavaScript Support (js moz dev). Both browsers can be started and showed websites normaly. But no javascript, even simple tests like [URL] failed. I started elink with ./elink and typed then the url.

he clicks on everything on his GNOME desktop, and manages to delete everything, including menus, icons, etc. The people he lives with aren't skilled enough to fix it, and I live a good eight hours away. I have remote capabilities with NX, but that requires them to initiate a connection to my workstation here, which is more painful than I thought it would be. I need a way of locking down the desktop, so it's read-only, so he can't make the changes he seems to keep making. I figure I could make the .gnome directory read-only, but I don't know if that would affect the normal operation.

I need to modify fs/open.c and fs/read_write.c to make my modifications. I cannot find any options in 'make menuconfig' to make these files modules rather than compiled elements. I'm thinking these cannot be modules because the file system won't work without open.c and read_write.c. Is this correct - I cannot compile fs/open.c and fs/read_write.c as modules, only as compiled elements? Or, is there some way for a module to overwrite these routines when the module is installed and re-enable the routines when the module is removed?

I build and use a custom kernel, and use the nvidia driver. This is on debian stretch.
By default, I build the image and headers packages with this line:
CONCURRENCY_LEVEL=8 nice -n19 ionice -c3 fakeroot make-kpkg --initrd --append-to-version=-something --revision=1 kernel_image kernel_headers
These kernel sources are usually the sources from debian, with a couple of more patches that I add. It appears that for nvidia-driver package versions higher than 352.79-1, the kernel headers/sources need to be prepared with 'make prepare' and 'make prepare scripts'. It's that simple. I concluded this after the nvidia dkms build failed on my custom kernel, but then succeeded after I pointed it to the full sources, but only after running 'make prepare' and 'make prepare scripts' on them. The problem is that this make-kpkg scheme doesn't appear to do this, or if it does, it doesn't properly include in the headers everything that it should.
