is anyone else experiencing difficulties with the latest chromium daily build? whenever i click to launch it, it appears, then closes 1 second later i know that chromium daily build is obviosly not suppost to be a reliable browser, im just curios to see if anyone else is experiencing difficulties aswell

The problem is I still want the Stable version of Chromium, and I want the developer version of Chromium not the beta release. So I got 2 problems: I need to downgrade this Chromium to the Stable release and then I want to install the developer release of Chromium and not lose this Stable release. I installed Chromium Browser and made it default. The version which is available through squeeze and wheezy main is a dinosaur, and as such I cannot install any Chrome addons. I tried ubuntu or launchpad ppa for Chromium-Daily. I added [URL] maverick main to my Third party Repositories. Its not working.
The terminal returns an error:

Since it's his repo I thought I'd contact him, but I don't really know how - so I'm brining my issue to the forum to see if anyone has a possible solution.I've been using Tom's Chromium fine for the past couple months. After a "yum update", Flash no longer works in Chromium. It works in Firefox. If I try to play any Flash videos it's just a blank box.

I installed them, did some work in libreoffice (dint use chromium then) and turned the computer off. Today I needed to do some web surfing, so boot up my computer, launch chromium and get the following message (I translated it from spanish as I use the spanish version of opensuse)...

Before the "update" chromium worked perfectly. Now it doesn't even start.

I've installed chromium on Linux from a custom binary on the net. When I try to get to gmail or any other site that uses flash, chromium warns me that the version of flash that is shipped with the browser is stale and that I should be using the latest version and pointing to an adobe site.the adobe site gives me 3 options
1) yum
2) RPM
3) tar.gz
4) APT for ubuntu
since I'm on redhat, I can use either yum or RPM.Which one should I use and what is the command to install it so that chromium can use it.
Is there a repository from which I can get the latest GCC build?

At that rate it could also be off for the other periods as well (weekly, monthly) Is there solution that will allow them to run once they are online after the appointed time? using a cron entry that runs every 15 or 5 or 1 minute.

I installed Gnome 3 Shell using sudo apt-get install gnome-shell but I got version 2.31.x but the latest is 2.91.5 or something. So is there a way for me to install the latest build? View 3 Replies View RelatedI was having some trouble trying to get video editing directly with Theora OGVs on Ubuntu 10.04. To be honest, the default Lucid video editor Pitivi (which is a front-end for gstreamer) actually works fine with ogv - but you cannot do video overlays (compositing) in Pitivi. So I looked at Cinelerra, LiVES, OpenShot and Kdenlive as editors that may offer overlays/compositing. They can all be sudo apt-get install-ed, but none of them wanted to run properly with ogvs - especially the ogv video preview didn't work. Looking for a solution, the following bugs came up:

However, since it doesn't seem a bugfix will be released for Lucid - that pretty much means only one thing, if we want video editing of ogv in Lucid: build from source. If we build all dependencies for Theora ogv video from the latest source: melt

then, in principle, working with ogv in Openshot and/or Kdenlive should (and does) work - if these video editors are directed to use these new binaries (built from source). Note that Openshot is basically a python frontend for melt, and it does not need compiling as such (though some precautions should be taken, see below) - so once the above sources are built, a test with Openshot can be done. I used for building these sources is HOWTO: Install and use the latest FFmpeg and x264 - Ubuntu Forums This HOWTO uses checkinstall in order to generate .deb packages from source, which are then installed into the running OS, to allow for satisfying of dependencies. I'd like to keep my system 'vanilla' clean, and experiment with sources outside of my system (i.e. as in a "portable installation") - and this post outlines that approach.
Basically, we download the sources, and build them in order of dependency - and since ogg/vorbis/theora source already uses it, we can use pkg-config to configure some other source dependencies as well: by writing *-uninstalled.pc files in respective source directories; and then adding these directories to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable. However, some manual changes to source files will be needed too. Finally, for each source package, we will run only 'make', but not 'make install' - and then in the end, we will collect all binaries (libraries and executables) in a single folder; and add a couple of scripts, that will setup an environment referring to these binaries, so that Openshot/Kdenlive (when called from this environment) may work correctly with ogv. Both x264, and libvpx (for VP8/WebM), have been added as recommended in the HOWTO; while Ogg Video Tools are added mostly for the (relatively new) tool oggTranscode. View 2 Replies View RelatedI often use the option in Chromium to create 'application shortcuts'. These are instances of Chromium that make a website look more like an app by not including most of Chromium's toolbars. I use it for gmail and google docs and spreadsheets and calendar. In 11.04 I have set up Desktop launchers and copied them across to the Launcher (what an odd way to add something to the launcher, why no right-click 'add launcher' option?)
The problem is that the launcher thinks all these apps are chromium (which they are really, but I would like them to be seen as separate apps). If I minimize my gmail window, a little triangle appears next to the chromium icon, not the gmail icon. To get the window back, I have to click on the Chromium icon. Clicking on the gmail icon launches a new instance of it (also tied to the Chromium icon).
if i run chromium with --enable-gpu-rendering flag chromium's display looks like it's shattered into thousands of pieces and I can't understand a thing. This doesn't happens if I have a previous instance of chromium opened in the usual way, without any flag. In this case if I open another chromium window with the --enable-gpu-rendering flag it's display looks ok, but I can't figure out what's the problem and how could this be fixed if there's solution for it of course.

Is it possible to force AWN to group this specific chromium window under the Grooveshark launcher that I have in the dock? Turning off grouping does not solve this either, as it just shows grooveshark as another chromium window.
If I go to the website and download the ISO file is it the exact same one that was released in April or will it contain the latest patches (e.g. security fixes, etc) that have been release since then? If it doesn't I suppose I'll have to download the entire ISO file, install the OS, and then have another couple hundred MB to download which is not what I'd prefer.

I'm in love with my Opensuse 11.2. Love my KDE 4.4. The only thing I miss from my Ubuntu installation, is the ability to use Boxee. I would be more than willing to compile Boxee from source. I only have 2 problems with that:
1) I don't know where I can find all the build-deps or what they are for that matter to build Boxee.
2) I'm running on a Netbook. Yes, my measly Intel Atom is no fun for compiling and building.
What are my options/what can I do to get Boxee up and running on 11.2? I've tried searching on build service for an RPM, but I think due to legal restrictions, Boxee can't be on there.

My goal is to install the i386 build on one partition and the 64-bit build on another. I have been away from Linux for a while and am sick to death of Win7, want to come home. :-}
Booted on i386 side of DVD, system freezes after a couple of lines that start with ATA2. Does not respond to 3 finger salute, ctrl-c, nothing. Have to press reset. I have tried both huge.s and hugesmp.s kernels
Booted on 64-bit side, comes up fine. I performed the install, selected for automatic lilo install. Lilo install hung but I was able to reboot. I booted off the 64-bit side again, entered the following: huge.s root=/dev/sde3 rdinit= ro It booted fully to the login prompt but the keyboard does not work, no input.
Ant was installed in yast2 but will not run since build.xml was never created. How can this be fixed? I would like to run AudioTool.

I noticed that the download page says "not recommended for daily use". I was wondering why this is, and if there were any things I need to look out for when using Ubuntu and 64-bit. I read the older FAQ thread in the closed 64-bit forum, but I wanted to make sure I got more recent information.
