Downloaded and installed all the below dependencies except edje. On ./configure of edje, it says

Below is the output when I run ./configure from enlightenment-0.16.999.55225 directory.

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables E_THUMB_CFLAGS and E_THUMB_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details. Yes I know the RPM is available too, but I have to install this tar.
I just recently got into Linux, and I've been experimenting with the various desktop environments available out there. I'm currently running Linux Mint 11. I tried to install Enlightenment by using a "sudo apt-get install e16" command. I then logged out of my session and re-logged in with the E16 session. I played around with it for a bit, but decided that it wasn't for me, and decided to log out again and re-log in to my Gnome session. I was surprised to find a mixture of Gnome and E16.
It appeared as though it was Gnome using the E16 window manager. I then proceeded to run a "apt-get remove e16" command and then restarted the computer. When I logged back in, I found a somewhat wrecked version of Gnome, with an X instead of an arrow for a mouse, no window decorations and no Alt-Tab nor Alt-F4. I decided to run Compiz Fusion and reloaded Compiz and everything went back to normal. How do I correct this? I don't want to have to run Compiz Fusion to reload Compiz everytime I log in...
Decided to try out Ubuntu instead of automatically getting the next Windows OS.
I have a Dell Dimension E310 with on board video card (will be relevant soon, I think).
After trying making my own CD and not being able to at least run the LiveCD (thought it was my fault even thought the MD5 #'s matched correctly), I went to Shipit and got a CD delivered of Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid). When I put the CD into my computer while running windows, the CD is not recognized, which seems strange to me. When I put the same CD into my work laptop (note that both computers are running XP), I can see the contents of the CD. Decide that it might not be an issue and restart the computer in the hope of booting from the CD. CD is never recognized and looking at the bootmenu, it has USB-cdRom at the top of the list.
More information: CPU is an Intel Pentium 4, 3.2Ghz. I don't believe it is a 64bit computer but I can't verify that. I mention this because I believe the CD I got is the 32bit version and that it should be sufficient but I figured I'd throw it out there in case someone else knew something.
When I iried to install bugzilla on my Ubuntu Lucid, I kept getting the following message. I have used "sudo apt-get --configure -a " and this is as far as I can get with the installation. Is there a way of first stopping the process and then removing Bugzilla, as it has locked the admin for apt.

After installing Ubuntu 10.04 on an external HDD (via Live-CD), grub never shows a menu, it only goes to command line.Every time I want to boot, I have to enter these commands:
set prefix=(hd0,1)/boot/grub
set root=(hd0,1)
linux /vmlinuz root=/dev/sda1 ro

i currently have lucid installed on my laptop hard drive. i took this drive out and then on a new drive in its place i have installed windows 7. reason why i couldn't put windows 7 on the same drive is that i have a BIOS based system and the hard drive is GPT based not MBR. therefore, i couldn't get windows back on it.
I figured that using an esata expresscard interface i should be able to use the Windows 7 drive externally without much speed penalty since ExpressCard in my case is implemented on PCI Express and not USB.
So i can update grub using
Code:
update-grub
and Windows 7 appears on the list. However, when i select this option during boot, it gives me errors that indicates that the external drive cannot be found (not surprising)
My guess is that when GRUB appears, the external hard drive has not been detected yet, and the modules for the expresscard may only be loaded during the boot process of lucid.
So I am wondering if there is anyway I can get this to work. meaning use lucid on my main drive and boot to Windows 7 from the external drive time to time.
It seems xdg-su is unable to accept my admin/root password whenever I try to install a new AIR application or make an upgrade.Upon every attempt to add my admin/root password I get an error: "su: Authentication failure". In the end: "Error# 5100"!I have recently upgraded to Lucid, but the problem has arisen back in Karmic.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSome of you may have had with issues after installing GIMP on Lucid Lynx 10.04. Which may be directly related to "gimp-help-en", which could prevent you from installing other applications and preforming system tasks. If so, use this method to fix it.
Process: (Terminal > $ sudo apt-get install gimp)
1. After installing Gimp go to the terminal:
2. Then load up the language support application:
3. Then it will ask you to install the "gimp-help-en", confirm it.
4. Fix'd
I think this issue is directly linked to a systems with multiple languages, but I haven't been able to test this theory out yet.
Does anyone know how (and if) I can unpack Enlightenment theme files (*.edj) under Windows XP? I used to unpack tar files to use some graphic elements under windows (I am a Blackbox for Windows themer) but since Enlightenment theme files switched to .edj I can't open them anymore. Is there a Windows application that can help me with this? Can I change the extension to tar or something (I used to do that in the past) and unpack the files
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been having some problems with KDE lately so I've been wanting to start using E. It looks great and all but I can't get the font DPI to change to 96. I found a little barebones dialog option that had an option for Force Font DPI but it doesn't seem to do anything, even after restarting X from CLI.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy PC is a Core2Duo7400/4gbRAM/9600GT. I install Enlightenment e17 on Ubuntu 10.04. It works perfect and runs very fast, but I have a little problem. When I open any browser (Firefox, Chrome, Opera) and a right would click -> save image takes a long time to open the box. I've noticed that happens only once, at first. if I open nautilus, it is the same, it takes quite at first, but only once. I think it is being loaded "some" of gnome and I want to load on boot.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThere was a similar question in the Centos mailing list in Apr2010, but no response, so I'll reopen it.
Enlightenment is a popular desktop (after Gnome and KDE) so there might be a Centos-savy installer laying around somewhere. Tried 'yum install enlightenment' [which works on some other distros] but found 'nothing'.
I found instructions for 'Fedora' here... [URL] but how Fedora 6 or 7 maps to Centos 5.5

View 2 Replies View RelatedBeen trying to get Enlightenment to install on my 13.37 multilib. Used sbo to install most of the libraries (ecore needed the LDFLAGS="-L/usr/lib${LIBDIRSUFFIX}" fix so I manually did that). All installed correctly. Then started enlightenment itself in sbopkg. It did the 'file in wrong format' thing, so I manually dled the slackbuild, added the LDFLAGS line, and ran it. It produced this error, and I have no idea what its telling me.

I recently upgraded from Karmic to Lucid via the Update Manager. I would like to upgrade further by switching from 32 Bit to 64 Bit. I downloaded the Lucid 64 Bit ISO and wrote an install disk. When I reboot the computer with the install disk nothing happens.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust completed installing Lightzone on my 64 bit system. Found it will easily install if you install as root. I used gksudo nautilus to navigate to the shell script and installed with no problems. It would not install without using root privileges.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded VMware Player 2.5.5-328052.i386.bundle from the VMware site, moved it to my home directory (/home/user) and then in Terminal proceeded to untar the file with "tar=xzvf VMware-player-2.5.5-328052.i386.bundle. I get the following error:
tar: VMware-player-2.5.5-328052-i386.bundle: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

What am I doing wrong, and how can I successfully unbundle this file so I can proceed to install VMware. By the way, in the man chmod file, there does not appear to be an 'x' option anymore. Is that true?
How do I upgrade to firefox 5 under Lucid.

I have a Dell Studio 1537 Laptop with what lspci calls an "ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3400" graphics card. Today I downloaded a daily image of Lucid, threw it on a USB drive, and booted it up. As I go to install the restricted driver for my graphics card, I notice that clicking on a panel item triggers the star burst effect. Come to find out that I can set desktop effects to "extra" and get smooth wobbly windows and everything.
Why are desktop effects working? I've always had to install FGLRX before, did the open source driver somehow get 3D support? Am I missing something? I almost feel like Compiz is performing better-- smoother, less tearing, etc.
Mentioned post - [URL]... I was/am also having the same problem that was described above and fixed it with either 'nomodeset' or 'i915.modeset=0', however, once I installed Gnome (part of the "Ultimate Server Guide"), I had one of the following happen...
-On Maverick, it would continue to boot in the console and running commands like startx would result in an error (no screen) -On Lucid, it stopped booting into the server all together (even with the above fixes). Once it boots into the server (about 6-7 seconds later), I'll see a bunch of reddish square artifacts on the screen and the HD activity will stop and the screen will remain on, but nothing will be displayed.
I've searched high and low for help on this and nothing seems to fix the problem. I consider myself very technical but my linux experience is only fair/good. Mostly from Unix experience in college and messing around with Ubuntu Desktop on my netbook.
install the latest real-time kernal into my current Lucid 10.04 distro? I know I could download and use Ubuntu Studio, but 1.7Gb is too much for my monthly download allowance to handle, especially when all I need it for is to address the major latency issues I have with Audacity.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThere are several things going on here. * Mouse jumps to the side when I click on things when zoom is activated. * After an upgrade in Lucid,I'd start up the computer and everything would be very slow. Windows would open from the bottom and I could not click on anything cause when I tried, the mouse would jump to the side. Zoom slow and clunky. Mouse fireball always turned off. I'd uninstall and reinstall Compiz and that would fix it for about three days and then it's back to the same problems. I end up having to click no effects then click effects (middle button) and it looks for drivers, then I have to reactivate the mouse fireball. This happened every day,day in day out. So I installed Meerkat Sat. and it was fine till this morning, now the same problem has reasserted itself. What can I do? Do I need a new video card?

know about the apt-get install <package> command only to install in linux. However, when using this command to try install firebird 2.5 on my Lucid, it is not finding the package, and eventually I downloaded the tar file from firebird site, but after extracting I do not know how to proceed.
