Ubuntu Installation :: 11.04 Updating Source List Error

i have using ubuntu 10.10 from past 3 months and about a week before upgraded to 11.04. The upgrade was a successful one and everything was back to normal, was enjoying unity. upgrading disabled most of the ppa's in the source list and later i enabled them and still everything was okay. yesterday suddenly when i clicked on the ubuntu software center it was just showing as if it was still processing the source list but after sometime it started giving me the below error: "E:Type 'rc' is not known on line 3 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/geod-ppa-geod-natty.list"

When opening "Update-manager" I get this error:
E:Malformed line 47 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)
What I was trying to do was update my Opera web browser, when I tried, Ubuntu told me that I was attempting to download from an unauthenticated source, I checked the software sources list and Opera was in there, so I deleted it and re-added it, I must have done it wrong because after closing out and refreshing "Update-manager" it gave me the error above and closed. So now I can't update anything.

I tried to change the basic toolbar to cairo dock,a tutorial that i found told me to write in terminal gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq.listso i write it and a window opened,i couled not find the text that told me(the tutorial i mean)so i closed the window,after that i keep taiking the same error

Go to the repository dialogue to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
now whene i got in the winehq.list the text has gone and i take this error in update manager,my software center doesn't work and my terminal whenever i type sudo commands says

I'm experiencing a strange issue with my Ubuntu 10.10 since a few days:when trying to update the packages list, a lot of repositories are ignored.Here is the output of

I do have a problem on updating linux ubuntu 10 I'll show you the error and my sources.list.. Error in authenticating some packages: It was not possible to authenticate some packages. in the biggest world of Free OS(Linux/Ubuntu).i added some links of online repositories in /etc/apt/source/list but i don't know why after few days, i figure out that none of the programs that listed in Ubuntu Software Center aren't able to install and i've faced with this errorafter do some crazy things i got a source.list of new ubuntu 10.4 from my friends then i replace it inside of mine ! when i restart my OS i found out that error hasn't solved.these are my Software Source's pics after replacing !

There is a problem with my source list (apparently) I'm running 11.04 if that helps.When I try to use apt-get install update for example, I get: "Malformed line 59 in source list etc/apt/sources.list"The same error occurs when trying to access synaptic package manager, it tells me there is a malformed line and the list of sources cannot be read.This error prevents me from apt-getting anything, updating and i suspect it is affecting the software center too.

I recently got an iPhone 3g and have been trying to upload music onto my device with Rhythmbox because my computer exclusively runs Ubuntu (10.04 LTS, Lucid Lynx). Rhythmbox would show files that were dragged and dropped as being on the iPhone, and they appeared in the iPhone's folders, but they weren't recognized in the iPod player. I followed a variety of forum threads to try to fix the problem, but ended up creating a whole new set of problems with my package manager.
I get this error message before package manager opens: E: Type 'n' is not known on line 2 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pmcenery-ppa-lucid.list E: The list of sources could not be read. Go to the repository dialog to correct the problem. E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
And this message after I close the first error message window and the package manager opens: An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information. report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:
'E:Type 'n' is not known on line 2 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pmcenery-ppa-lucid.list, E:The list of sources could not be read.' Does anyone have any recommendations on how to fix this? 1.) I made a few updates that I found a website my friend sent me: http://blog.thesilentnumber.me/2009/...nstalling.html
however, when I would go to enter the APT line in the other sources in the software sources windows then close and reload it I would get the following error message code...
Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
I also attached a screen shot of the error message window.
2.) I don't know if i should post another issue I had, but when i try to run GNUnet it says that Daemon is not running. I'm not sure what that is all about.

Using Update Manager this morning, I received the following error message while it was updating Firefox:

for some reason my first updating was interrupted and from then i cannot update. i get the following message:

I'm trying to update Ubuntu 10.04 after a clean installation, it downloaded 245 files,and there is an error in the indexes of the 2 last packages:Failed to fetch [URL] difiere (bad size) Failed to fetch [URL] difiere (bad size) This happens even changing the repository to main server or another through "Software origins".Update-manager doesn't conclude the update because it can't download all the packages.

I am not very much efficient in ubuntu so cant understand why this error is. It is giving as failed to download repository information. check your internet connection. I got a problem while updating KDE from 4.1.2 to 4.2. In our college we can't download more than 20MB officially. So I'm unable to get kdegames which is 32MB from Konsole so I downlaoded it using proxy and I copied it into the /var/cache/yum/updates/packages/ folder and now using this command (yum groupinstall 'KDE (K Desktop Environment)').
I tried to update to KDE 4.2 using Konsole but it is showing:
Error Downloading Packages:
6:kdegames-4.2.0-1.fc10.i386: failure: kdegames-4.2.0-1.fc10.i386.rpm from updates: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.
And even by double-clicking the KDEgames rpm file I'm unable to install it is saying GPG (I'm not sure GPG or not, start with G i think) Key missing so it is taking too much time and not doing anything.

Is there a way to stop GRUB2 from updating grub.cfg with new entries after an update? It shits me because it goes and writes over all my custom modifications of current entries.. e.g:
"Windows 7 Home Premium" (which I made), gets changed back to:
