i already installed lucid and during installation i didn't change my location to Iran, now i can't see Iran's server in software sources. anybody has an idea how to add it to list? (i mean not to add it manually in "other software" tab)

I tried to change the basic toolbar to cairo dock,a tutorial that i found told me to write in terminal gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq.listso i write it and a window opened,i couled not find the text that told me(the tutorial i mean)so i closed the window,after that i keep taiking the same error

The upgrade was a successful one and everything was back to normal, was enjoying unity. upgrading disabled most of the ppa's in the source list and later i enabled them and still everything was okay. yesterday suddenly when i clicked on the ubuntu software center it was just showing as if it was still processing the source list but after sometime it started giving me the below error: "E:Type 'rc' is not known on line 3 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/geod-ppa-geod-natty.list"

I recently got an iPhone 3g and have been trying to upload music onto my device with Rhythmbox because my computer exclusively runs Ubuntu (10.04 LTS, Lucid Lynx). Rhythmbox would show files that were dragged and dropped as being on the iPhone, and they appeared in the iPhone's folders, but they weren't recognized in the iPod player. View 7 Replies View RelatedOriginally my ubuntu uses official source list as apt-get update target, obviously it is very slow, these days I find a source mirror in my own region, I want to replace original one with current mirror.
Although everything works OK but when I try to update a new software, it still downloads from original official websites, still slow, in fact it can be much faster if get from local regional.
Note the contents of my /etc/apt/sources.list. Only problem is when I run apt-get update there asome 'wheezy' update sources that I must have put it by accident. Where would they be coming from and how do I delete them?

I'm using Karmic 9.10 and think my original software source list has been removed. Have done all updates recently including Gnome do and standard ones. Think my software update karmic main and restricted universe list is somehow corrupted. With Karmic main showing Open office through the middle of the line. Tried putting in the Ubuntu 9.10 cd to update list but I don't know where to go from there as I'm new to certain stuff.

Is there a place online that has the default repository listings for 'Etch' & 'Lenny'? I did not lose them on both but this is something I would like to know in case it ever happens to me. What happens if I update Debian Squeeze from Lenny's source.list?A step by step manual is written on Lenny, and if I change lenny to squeeze things seem to not work.When I update the squeeze from the original source.list and then change to the source.list that manual uses things are working.But if I were to start squeeze with lenny's source.list I am getting error while trying to do this:
apt-get install wget mc zip unzip bzip2 ntp ntpdate lsb-release.
I am using Open office 3.2 with Ubuntu 10.10. Trying to get it set up to print out the Christmas address labels. To register the data source its 'FILE'> 'WIZARDS' then' ADDRESS DATA SOURCE.' But OO doesn't show the 'ADDRESS DATA SOURCE' at the bottom of the list, so I am stuck. Apart from that, I have had no problems with ubuntu and its working well.

Its kinda like this:
