I try thus Ubuntu Linux Server edition 10.10. I have installed it on a Virtual machine but don't know how to open GUI (Windows mode) in linux. What is the command for that or do i need setup anything more?

I have read that there is a file Xorg.conf that contain the graphics card information. I have also use the command
sudo cp /etc/x11/xorg.conf /etc/x11/xord.conf_backup
but its not working.
My girlfriend accidentally removed the power from the computer and now i cant boot up. I just get Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode and than:
0 run ubuntu in low-graphics mode for just one session
0 reconfigure graphics
0 troubleshoot error
0 exit to console
0 restart x
the only thing im able to do is boot up in terminal mode. i have tried google and found nothing that worked.
My server was installed Centos 5.4 maximal. Now I want to remove packages which are unnecessary for security .

I belive there is a problem with my graphics card, because when I start a VMware vm with accellerated graphics, i get this message: Code: Cannot open file "/home/joe/.vmware/dndlogs/ * dndlog.conf": No such file or directory. 3D graphics acceleration will be disabled. This computer does not have a 3D graphics system supported by VMware Workstation. My laptop model is the ASUS U52F-BBL9 btw.

And I am using my system for surfing the web, listen to music, video`s and chatting. And I got the "funny" tough`t of trying to maybe play World of Warcraft again on this computer. Yes I have run it before when I had XP and W7 on it. The w7 experience on this computer was a bad mistake. According to that page (you have to Ctrl-F and "Open source ATI drivers" to find the what I mean ) it is possible, but I am wondering on how to do it?[URL].. and been reading on different sites that you can play games with wine in a new X. Curious on how that can be done, and if that MAYBE is the best thing to do with my Wow game. Havent installed it YET, thinking of downloading the web installer after this post. So I finally got ubuntu..I wanted to play team fortress 2.Runs great in wine etc.But 1 problem.It keeps saying my graphic card is outdated.I cant see anything.So I downloaded the driver from nvidia website.Followed some instructions.But it says cannot open binary file or something.Is there any other way to update graphic drivers.Cause I realy still want to play some windows games.Mount&blade, Atlantica online,team fortress 2 etc

I have an ubuntu PC with 512 MB ram and an 3d graphic card that can normally support Guild Wars on windows xp. I installed the game with Wine an the game opens, I can see my character menu but the problem is none of the 3D graphic parts works, I just see a black screen.I even installed directX.

I am in the process of building a new desktop machine for work and fun. I am looking to run a undecided flavor of Linux (guessing Ubuntu) as my primary OS and several Windows installs with a Windows 7 install for .net development and gaming as virtualized environments.
From my previous experiences with virtualization software in Linux I was never able to find an application that offered descent video card support / graphic acceleration etc. to be capable of playing any games within one of the virtualized environments. And since I will be investing quite a bit of money into this system for gaming I would naturally want to find the best option available to achieve this setup.
So Onto my question: Is there any virtualization software available for Linux that has full video card support, graphic acceleration and capable of taking advantage of everything the video cards have to offer within the virtualized environments?
Or am I stuck with running Windows 7 as my primary OS and using virtualization for Linux and the other OS's?
Also I have no preference on open/closed source and price range would be up to $175.00 to support at least 3 virtualized environments.
In Fedora 10, I cannot get to the installer because it shows these messed up strips graphics (its not due to my graphic card, my graphic card is supported 7600gt) in non-quiet install it shows logical errors and i/o errors.

In krusader (root mode), I want to edit a plain text file that can only be edited as su. When clicking on the file opened kwrite before, now I get this krusader error message: "KDEInit couldn't launch 'usr/bin/kwrite' OK"
Why is this happening? What's wrong? I've found that this problem begins on the second try to open the file-- for the first time clicking on it, kwrite opens it for editing but not on tries following the first one made in the same computer session. Rebooting fixes the problem but only for the first new opening of the file.

Why in expert mode does it look like Partitions 2 and 3 share the same sector / hd / Cylinders? Is this OK?
