Jul 24, 2011On my dual-boot system, 11.4 and win7, Iped out the Doc and DL folders in my home directory and replaced 'em with links to the ones on the windows side. It works great except for one thing: When I open Dolphin in superuser mode and change the permissions to make myself the owner of those folders, the change doesn't take. Is there a special trick to it?GEFPS: I plan to use openSUSE as my main OS, but it's easier to keep my data on the NTFS partition, because Linux speaksindows better than than Windows speaks Linux. Besides, that's where my data already lives

Synapticed gnome and changed login preferences to ubuntu classic which basically fixed the desktop except...
If I open a program, say LibreOffice or firefox it opens correctly.
If I move the window to the second screen, it switches to fullscreen mode.
If I click on the resize button, then it opens correctly, but on the first screen

Jun 1, 2010i just upgraded to ubuntu 10.04 from 9.10, and now i can't view any flash video in fullscreen mode (videos, atdhe, etc.). when i click on fullscreen firefox crashes instantly. everything was working fine in 9.10.
i looked around on the forums; i tried to install the flash-aid extension for firefox. it says that my architecture is 32bit, then reinstalls the flash plugin, but that doesn't help; fullscreen still crashes. i also tried to install the 64bit version from adobe's website, but that doesn't help.
i had a look at the mozilla website [url] i tried to preload the libgl.so.1 library as suggested there, but that doesn't help. i wanted to try to disable hardware acceleration in the flash player settings, but i can't even change the settings; when i right-click on settings, the adobe small preferences screen appears but i can't click on anything, nothing works.
that's all on ubuntu 10.04 with firefox 3.6.3 and flash player 10,0,45,2. i also installed the newer 10.1 flashplayer plugin from the adobe website, but firefox still crashes.

Mar 19, 2010I have a weird problem in my Aspire One D150 with an Intel 945 GME, and in my HP DV5 with an Intel GM45. When i put a window like Firefox in full screen mode (F11), and try to get into a menu, or an auto-complete option or trying to access a URL in the history of the address bar, results in a black blink that its very annoying, because it happens all the time.
This problem appears in the most GTK Apps that i run in full screen mode. QT Works perfect. If the composite its off, works perfect in both.
This happens in KDE 4.3.5 and KDE 4.4.1, so I have no clue about this. I want my composite on, and make that the GTK Apps work as well as the QT ones.

I can create a folder using the mkdir command and I can navigate that folder as long as that terminal session is active. Jun 14, 2010Something very strange has happened to my system (Lucid / Gnome / 64 bit): when I try to open a location from Gnome Menu, message pops up saying: "Can't open location [file:///...]. No program is registered to open this type of file." Or something in this vein, I'm translating the message from Polish. So I can't open locations via the main menu, but the bookmarks work fine in an open Nautilus window. It looks like the system doesn't know it should open a location with Nautilus... I looked through file associations in Ubuntu Tweak, but couldn't find anything corresponding to "file:///..." or anything resembling opening a location (I'm not exactly a Linux guru). Also, the folder shortcuts in Cairo-Dock don't work, the same goes for the FolderView screenlets. However, in the MainMenu screenlet, the location shortcuts do work. There has to be some obvious explanation of this anomaly, but I lack a deeper knowledge of the system to work it out. I can't say at which point it started exactly, I think it was around the time I started dragging extra shortcuts to the Cairo-Dock shortcuts applet, but that may be a coincidence.

Mar 12, 2011I rely heavily on Gnome-Do to open folders in Nautilus.
This worked just fine in Ubuntu Desktop. However, in Openbox it opens folders in Chromium.
This is annoying for two reasons:
One, obviously i would like to view the selected folders in Nautilus.
And, two, i would like to set Firefox 4 as the browser of choice when opening anything via Gnome-Do. It is set as my browser of choice in Preferred Applications.
I have searched for configuration files, but see no entry i could modify, and would not know where to begin writing my own commands.
I am sure many people must use Gnome-Do in Openbox. If you are one of them, did you encounter similar issues? If so, how did you fix them?
