Oct 14, 2010I am under pressure to create a DVD with a menu etc etc for my mother-in-law whom I will be seeing in South Africa this weekend. So installed "dvdstyler" created what I think a presentable welcome screen, menu, buttons etc etc. Saved it as "dvd.xml".I went out and came back to start again to add a few more tweeks and to burn it off but now it wont even open my project.When I open the application via a terminal I get some output of errors which I have posted below. This is kind of out of my realm of knowledge so has anyone got any clue what this might mean?

May 2, 2011Im trying to burn video ts files to dvd.. but cant install the software. as im not used to this command prompt stuff,and it just seems relentless with anything i try to install, im unsure what to do, or what might go wrong.

Jun 18, 2010I have ubuntu 10.4 installed, everything works on my Toshiba A200-TJ9 laptop except for the built in webcam and mic, as well as the DVD burning function of my multi drive.The drive itself is a HD-DVD Rom with CD/DVD +/- R/RW capabilities.I did a $sudo cdrecord -scanbus and it shows:

Beyond that i know absolutely nothing, and when i put in a blank CD or DVD -R, it shows up as a blank CD/DVD-R, but its properties show as 0 bytes used, 0 bytes free and 0 bytes for capacity. And not surprisingly, Brasero says not enough disc capacity when i try to burn a 2.7 gig file onto the DVD-R.

Nov 3, 2010Problem is with files greater than 4G onto dual layer or BD disks.mkisofs crashes. I believe the problem to be when this requires udf filesystem and disk does not get written to. As yesterday version is suse11.3 patched to date. k3b writes standard dvd disks ok. I am seeing a lot of searches saying this is because of cdrkit rather than cdrtools, can I replace this easily? Is this the case? Tried setting the k3b options when burning to udf same error. Other searches show k3b has fixed probs with these issues, so appears to point to underlying mkisofs stuff full error log in yesterdays post if it helps. I will also try on ubuntu to see if it works there

Apr 4, 2010For the longest I have been unable to burn an audio CD that contains ogg files with GnomeBaker, and have always had to decode to wav manually. Well I'm tired of doing that, so want to get to the bottom of the problem. Upon adding an ogg file to the file list, the error I receive is:
"The plugin to handle a file of type audio/ogg is not installed." I have all the gstreamer0.10-plugins-[base|bad|good|ugly] packages installed. I can play an .ogg file with rhythmbox.
Using gconf-editor, /system/gstreamer/0.10/audio/profiles/cdlossy is "active" and the cdlossy profile is listed in /system/gstreamer/0.10/audio/global/profile_list At a loss on what I need to do.

Jan 7, 2011I'm trying to burn a DVD using k3b, and would like to access files from a shared network drive from a Windows machine. I can see the files in Nautilus from "Network Servers" and drilling down to the right directory, I can open the files no problem, but I can't get k3b to recognise them.
Firstly I can't navigate to the network drive from the file tree on the left in K3b.
If I drag and drop the files from Nautilus into k3b, it says "Problems while adding files to the project: No non-local files supported".
If I use Project -> Add Files I can then get to the network drives, but when I select and add the files it says "Remote files not accepted - You can only select local files".
In the end I had to copy all the files using Nautilus from the network share onto a USB stick, burn the DVD and then delete the files again. (I used the USB stick just to see if that counted as more "local" than a network share). Was there an easier / more efficient way to do this that I missed?

I believe the problem to be when the file sizes are large. using suse 11.3 x 64 and updates done. k3b version 2.0.1-1pm 2.7 burned normal dvd yesterday with3.5 Gb + 1.5Gb files. Tried burning to BD-R disk with 11.5 Gb file. I have burned blu ray disks before with my machine but used nero, I would prefer to use k3b as should do this. I get error of mkisofs crashed and following error log

Ubuntu Networking :: Nfs Locking Files - Cannot Open For Editing, Or Open Firefox / Thunderbird?

When I try to open any nfs-mounted file using OpenOffice, I get a pop-up window titled "Document in Use". The text of the message is:
"Document file 'abcde.odt' is locked for editing by:
Unknown User
Open document read-only or open a copy of the document for editing." I then have three options - <Open Read-Only>, <Open Copy>, & <Cancel> If I cp any of these files from the mounted directory to my home dir (not mounted), I can open them without problem.Also, my firefox & thunderbird date are in this mounted directory as well (sym links to ~dan/.mozilla & ~dan/.thunderbird). Both of these apps hang when trying to open, leaving two processes behind that need to be manually killed. Again, cp'ing the data out of the nfs-mounted dir onto a local dir resolves the issue, so I am 100% confident there is nothing missing or corrupted in the firefox &/or thunderbird data...

Usually it is based on a copy of a folder to a temp folder, and burn this folder. but I would like to use a file as input. man growisofs is not so widely full of explanations.. .

I've tried running this multiple times, both with using glib_close() at the end of the loop, using glib_init() and glib_close() at beginning/end, and just using glib_init(). The strange thing is these have no effect on the actual glib_get functions.
