Ubuntu :: Gnote - Word Linked But Not Clickable Nor Underlined
Sep 19, 2010
I have an essential problem with Gnote. Although a word is linked it is not clickable nor underlined. Basically there is not any sign showing that the word is a link. It looks like an ordinary word. However, when I select it then "Link" button becomes enabled and if I click to that button it takes me to the linked point. I think it is a very basic problem but strangely I haven't found anything about it in my searches. Is this Gnote's normal behavior? I have Ubuntu 10.04 and had this problem in both Gnote 0.6.2. and 0.7.2 (latest release).
I've got a shared (Windows/multiuser Linux) laptop, and I've got installed World of Warcraft and some steam games in Windows. With steam games, there is (almost) no problems. I've installed steam in Linux, and soft linked the 'steamapps' directory (per-game compatibility is another issue). With WoW, the problem is different. I would like to have almost (but not) all files. Under World of Warcraft, every file and directory must be linked except the Interface directory and WTF/config.wtf file (so every user can play with their own settings and addons). How can I have a mix of linked and not linked files without linking every file? If I link manually every file/dir, when updating from Linux other users and Windows Wow is not updated; when updating from Windows, new files remains "unlinked".
I want to underline my user & hostname in the PS1 variable, but I cant seem to do it.
I know that my Xterm can underline text normally, because when I pass Xterm the '+nul' option, then do this:
Code:
It underlines. I just cant seem to get it to work for my PS1 variable, although its quite possible Im doing it incorrectly. has anyone managed to do this, is it possible?
Suppose I enter a forum where everyone writes in Spanish. When I want to post, the editor, as I type the words, underlines them in red, as if I were misspelling the words. But, if I write an English word, he doesn't underline it. Obviously, he is thinking I'm writing in English.
I suppose the editor is in my system. That is, it is not an editor sent to my machine by the site. Hence, I must have the means of telling him not to care about spelling.
Well, I am facing one issue:How can i read two files word by word at a time using any loop as i need word by word comparision in shell script? Please let me know pseudo code.
Want to search for ~ and delete it as well as to append the entire line to the above line. For Ex:
1111xxxx date Sandy area is ~around this area.3222xxx date There seems to ~left side of map, the colours are accurate (showing green areas)Even if I ~zoom in, the green parks, xxx3258 date The dammed up ~away, the "other" body of water varies ~blackNatural gas leaching.
IT MUST LOOK LIKE:
1111xxxx date Sandy area is around this area. 3222xxx date There seems to left side of map, the colours are accurate (showing green areas)Even if I zoom in, the green parks, xxx3258 date The dammed up away, the "other" body of water varies blackNatural gas leaching.
I am pretty new to bash scripting...I am trying to write a script that will take an input and read it word for word and then DO something with it like echo. I have been able to find how to read word for word from a file but I don't know how to do it with input.
I was looking for something like
Code:
exit 0 The input would be A-Z a-z 0-9 and have a single space between each word.
In formsweb.cfg file are two lines with labels archive_jini= and archive= at the beginning of line. After equal sign (=) is row of filenames of java archives delimited by coma(,). When I insert a new jar file in java directory, I have to append the very same name of jar file to both lines if that name is not yet present.
I have ubuntu 9.10 and fedora 12 both installed. For some reason, Fedora has stopped working, so I have to remove it. I want to save the notes I had made in "gnote" in Fedora in Ubuntu somewhere (I can mount Fedora from Ubuntu). How can I do that ?Basically, how to access Fedora's gnote from Ubuntu?
I'm looking for the file in which global keybindings are set for Gnote. The man page claims they are stored in gconf --> '/apps/gnote/global_keybindings/open_start_here', /apps /gnote/global_keybindings/show_note_ menu'
I have a ~/.gconf/apps/gnote directory, but no files to set the individual keybindings. The keybindings work and can be set from within gnote, so i know they have to be somewhere on my system. Anyone have any ideas where I might look? I'm using Openbox on a Karmic command line install. I have no gconf-editor, and gnote looks to be the only program installed that uses gconf.
i've recently installed Ubuntu 9.10, and i am trying to get java6 jre working. using "sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jre" the package downloads and works fine until i run into this screen: Now this must look like everything is working fine....and i should just click the ' OK ' button...that is where the trouble begins...i can't....and i was hoping someone would know the problem...
Basically what the title says. I used to be able to click links in messages through checkgmail, but then I had to reinstall it and now I can no longer click links.
After tomboy was gone today from my machine and does not appear in synaptic, I tried to install gnote and got this error. what should I do?
Code: gnote: Depends: libboost-filesystem1.40.0 (>= 1.40.0-1) but it is not installable Depends: libboost-system1.40.0 (>= 1.40.0-1) but it is not installable Depends: libpanelappletmm-2.6-1c2 (>= 2.22.0) but it is not going to be installed Depends: libpcrecpp0 (>= 7.7) but it is not installable E: Broken packages
I am fairly new to Linux, and in the last two days, I've learned a lot! I am a LONG time heavy windows user since 1986, and have used Mac OS X at work for the last year. I feel I am a more experienced user on the Windows platform; I have programmed a short game in BASIC and C++. I have tons of games and one of my hopes is to get them working on Linux.
My problem; I have sucessfully downloaded a couple games, compiled their scipts and can play them by finding their executable and double clicking on them. i have added them to my Games menu. I downloaded a front-end for a game that is written in Python (Doomsday and Snowberry if you want to know) and have it running great! However, I would like to create some kind of clickable link in my Games menu so that it'll start up Snowberry (snowberry.py) so I don't have to keep opening a terminal and 'cd' my way to it's folder and 'python file.py'. Possible? I keep searching on google and find nothing but references to creating executable files for Windows.
Virgin install of F13. Rsync (copy) notes from backup harddisk of F12 to /home/bill/.gnote. Release notes say "Notes stored in previous versions are automatically migrated from .gnote to .local/share/gnote in the users home directory." Nothing is migrating anywhere. Before I start messing about. I have I missed something dumb?
Before I go any further let me make it perfectly clear that this post is not in regards to Shuttleworth's recent decision to move the "titlebar buttons". I honestly don't care and in fact it saves me time since I've always moved the close button to the left side and then removed the minimize and maximize buttons anyway. This problem is made even more annoying because I thought we were all done with it. I've been back and forth between distros, KDE, and GNOME since 2000. . . I would run head first into this issue often out of nowhere. . . I feel like I'm back in 2003 again.
According to Fitt's Law, corners and edges have infinite width as far as the user is concerned, one of the reasons I have loved GNOME for so long now is because of the use of corners, so imagine my surprise when I can no longer simply throw my mouse cursor up into the corner and simply CLOSE the maximized window that I'm currently using, instead it drags the window. This is obnoxious and useless. I can already grab at any other part of the top edge of the screen outside of the far corner in order to drag a window, why is this happening again? It is SO frustrating particularly since GNOME is supposed to be so damned concerned with usability.
I think this change might have something to do with that monstrosity known as gnome-shell. I guess they were figuring that with the proposed 2.30/3.0 switch over to this new window manager, they could simply do whatever they like with metacity. . . or maybe gnome-shell USES the same configurations as metacity (seems plausible), all that I know is that this truly pisses me off.It may seem trivial but it's a daily use factor for me and I have no way of changing the behavior. I just want to be able to throw my mouse in a corner and click, it never seemed that big of an issue in the past, I don't see why the developer(s) saw the need to change this.
And to forestall all those that would ask me to switch from metacity to compiz or vice-versa, it's with both and I am NOT going to use compiz's own digusting window manager themes, I like my metacity themes. My other choices are KDE, enlightenment, openbox or Xfce, Well the first two are travesties since I'm used to my GNOME applications and they don't look good in those DE's, the third looks like crap (to me) and Xfce has corner close button functionality only per theme (some themes do and some don't)
In my desktop toolbar on the right side where my running applications are shown etc. I have some problems:
1) After a while and after some messages have been shown and applications started, there is a growing gap which gets larger. When I move the mouse over the gap, I see tooltips belonging to the application to the right which is always a different one so I assume that it is a toolbar problem and no application problem.
2) Some icons are not clickable with the left mouse button, e.g. Rhythmbox. When I left click on it, nothing happens.
3) When I open the volume control with a left click, I cannot close it by clicking somewhere else. I always have to click on the "Mixer" Button to see a whole window and then I can close it.
I've had this problem for months now and I couldn't find a way to solve it. The issue is pretty simple: 'gnote' app auto-starts when the system is booted and I've yet to find a way to stop it.
I've checked the following folders: /home/user/.config/autostart/ /home/user/.kde/Autostart/ /home/user/.local/share/autostart/
And I've also checked the following apps/modules: 'Boot-up Manager' (BUM) Autostart - KDE Control Module And Nothing. No sign of 'gnote' anywhere.
Now, I know I could just uninstall the app and forget about this (I don't even use it anymore) The thing is that I'm really amazed of how incredibly difficult it is to manage something as simple as the apps that start-up with the system (something that could be done in the deprecated Windows XP with 'msconfig' since it first came up, I don't know.. a decade ago?) I want to understand how this works because I like Ubuntu + KDE a lot and I have NO intentions of going back to Windows.
I would like to share gnote notes between two computers. The documentation talks about synchronizing with a server, but there are no synchronization menu options as the manual suggests. Is is possible to either synchronize notes between two computers or at least export notes from one computer and copy to another? This seems incredibly simple and basic but surprisingly I can't find a way to do it.
When I activate Compiz through the Desktop Effects settings, the top one or two pixels of the top Gnome panel don't respond to mouse clicks. Is this a bug, or do I have to adjust some CompizConfig setting?
I'm seeing weirdness with Scottrade's main screen with Firefox (not the real-time streaming quotes app). It seems after a few minutes, whether idling or otherwise, Firefox gets into a state where nothing on the Scottrade page is clickable. Firefox menus still work as do other tabs so Firefox itself is still alive. It's as if a timer fires inside Firefox that renders the Scottrade page inert. Manually reloading the page temporarily fixes the problem. This is the only website where I've encountered this. It's particularly annoying when you're in the middle of placing a trade order and the page suddenly goes dead when you're about to submit.
System: Fedora 11 x86-64 Firefox 3.5.6 (x86-64) from Fedora Update
I thought maybe this was a problem specific to Fedora's Firefox build so I installed the FF 3.5.6 and 3.6.0 i386 from a tarball direct from Mozilla. Same results. I'd be inclined to call this a Firefox bug were it not for the fact that I do not see this behavior on my ancient Fedora 4 machine running Firefox 3.5.6 installed from the same tarball.
There's a Gnote icon on the panel. I removed the application using the add/remove software GUI (System-> Administration->Add/Remove Software)
When I click on the panel icon, the un-installed programme opens up. I removed the application using the terminal. When I click on the panel icon, the un-installed program opens up. How can I get rid of it? # find Gnote (or gnote) doesn't find anything, but the program still takes notes.
I changed the user name using the User Properties window and rename the home directory with the new user name. Did not change the Group Name. The new name is ResearLab
When I restarted the system I received an error message: Gnote Crash gnote 0.7.3-4.fc14
Following are the messages:
(1) could not update ICE authority file/home/ResearLab/.ICE authority There is a problem with the configuration server
(2) /usr/Libexec/gconf-Sanity-check-2 exited with status 256
(3) Nautilus could not create the following required folders: /home/ResearLab/Desktop, /home/ResearLab/.nautilus. Before running nautilus, please create these folders or set permission such that natilus can create them.
A. What did I do wrong? Is it not possible to rename a user in Linux? B. How can I correct this problem? C. Should I have created a new user instead or renaming an existing one? D. Can the primary group be renamed?
I am new to Ubuntu and am attempting to do a clean install on my second pc. I'm semi computer illiterate, and I am stuck on the Who are you? page. It appears that I have all the fields filled in correctly, with checks next to them all and "Fair password" displayed. I have Log in automatically checked, and I have require my password to log in as well as encrypt my home folder unchecked. I was wondering if there had been problems with this or is there something that I am doing wrong with my installation? The forward button is not clickable for some reason
I just upgraded to Fedora 15 from Fedora 14.... I think I could tolerate the new gnome shell if I could turn some of my tcl/tk and python gui scripts into things that I can store in the 'favorites' panel. In F14 I could create 'applets' ( with an Icon) that I could put in the top panel ( menu bar). Clicking on the icon would start the (gui based) script. Is there some way I can create a 'clickable' script in F15 and then place the result in the Favourites panel?
In linux is there a way to find the next word of a particular word of a file. grep displays entire line of the particular word. But i want only the exact next word of that particular word.is there any command for that.
