View 1 RepliesVirgin install of F13. Rsync (copy) notes from backup harddisk of F12 to /home/bill/.gnote. Release notes say "Notes stored in previous versions are automatically migrated from .gnote to .local/share/gnote in the users home directory." Nothing is migrating anywhere. Before I start messing about. I have I missed something dumb?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to share gnote notes between two computers. The documentation talks about synchronizing with a server, but there are no synchronization menu options as the manual suggests. Is is possible to either synchronize notes between two computers or at least export notes from one computer and copy to another? This seems incredibly simple and basic but surprisingly I can't find a way to do it.

(System-> Administration->Add/Remove Software)
When I click on the panel icon, the un-installed programme opens up. I removed the application using the terminal. When I click on the panel icon, the un-installed program opens up. How can I get rid of it?
# find Gnote (or gnote) doesn't find anything, but the program still takes notes.
Can anyone tell me what names the tomboy notes application gives to its notebooks and notes? Not the file format (xml) I found that on the web, but the filenames and directory where it stores things.

I want to save the notes I had made in "gnote" in Fedora in Ubuntu somewhere (I can mount Fedora from Ubuntu). How can I do that ?Basically, how to access Fedora's gnote from Ubuntu?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for the file in which global keybindings are set for Gnote. The man page claims they are stored in gconf --> '/apps/gnote/global_keybindings/open_start_here', /apps /gnote/global_keybindings/show_note_ menu'
I have a ~/.gconf/apps/gnote directory, but no files to set the individual keybindings. The keybindings work and can be set from within gnote, so i know they have to be somewhere on my system. Anyone have any ideas where I might look? I'm using Openbox on a Karmic command line install. I have no gconf-editor, and gnote looks to be the only program installed that uses gconf.
After tomboy was gone today from my machine and does not appear in synaptic, I tried to install gnote and got this error. what should I do?
Code:
gnote:
Depends: libboost-filesystem1.40.0 (>= 1.40.0-1) but it is not installable
Depends: libboost-system1.40.0 (>= 1.40.0-1) but it is not installable
Depends: libpanelappletmm-2.6-1c2 (>= 2.22.0) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libpcrecpp0 (>= 7.7) but it is not installable
E: Broken packages
I have an essential problem with Gnote. Although a word is linked it is not clickable nor underlined. Basically there is not any sign showing that the word is a link. It looks like an ordinary word. However, when I select it then "Link" button becomes enabled and if I click to that button it takes me to the linked point. I think it is a very basic problem but strangely I haven't found anything about it in my searches. Is this Gnote's normal behavior? I have Ubuntu 10.04 and had this problem in both Gnote 0.6.2. and 0.7.2 (latest release).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had this problem for months now and I couldn't find a way to solve it. The issue is pretty simple: 'gnote' app auto-starts when the system is booted and I've yet to find a way to stop it.
I've checked the following folders:
/home/user/.config/autostart/
/home/user/.kde/Autostart/
/home/user/.local/share/autostart/
And I've also checked the following apps/modules:
'Boot-up Manager' (BUM)
Autostart - KDE Control Module
And Nothing. No sign of 'gnote' anywhere.
Now, I know I could just uninstall the app and forget about this (I don't even use it anymore) The thing is that I'm really amazed of how incredibly difficult it is to manage something as simple as the apps that start-up with the system (something that could be done in the deprecated Windows XP with 'msconfig' since it first came up, I don't know.. a decade ago?) I want to understand how this works because I like Ubuntu + KDE a lot and I have NO intentions of going back to Windows.
I changed the user name using the User Properties window and rename the home directory with the new user name. Did not change the Group Name. The new name is ResearLab
When I restarted the system I received an error message:
Gnote Crash
gnote 0.7.3-4.fc14
Following are the messages:
(1) could not update ICE authority file/home/ResearLab/.ICE authority
There is a problem with the configuration server
(2) /usr/Libexec/gconf-Sanity-check-2 exited with status 256
(3) Nautilus could not create the following required folders: /home/ResearLab/Desktop, /home/ResearLab/.nautilus.
Before running nautilus, please create these folders or set permission such that natilus can create them.
A. What did I do wrong? Is it not possible to rename a user in Linux?
B. How can I correct this problem?
C. Should I have created a new user instead or renaming an existing one?
D. Can the primary group be renamed?

I recently upgraded from Fedora 13 to Fedora 14 and noticed something strange when I used Yum to install GNote and Inkscape. Yum installed the Fedora 14 version of the programs, but installed some dependencies that were actually from Fedora 12 and 13. The output below shows what packages were installed.
Yum output:
==================================================================================================== ===================================================================

[code].....
When I ran the yum command to list all of the packages for the dependencies in question, it only listed the version for Fedora 12 or 13. Is there something wrong with one of my repositories or do these Fedora 14 programs actually use packages from previous versions of Fedora?

I started off by following the steps from the following location [URL] This didn't work and I had the symptoms listed below. I then looked at the following guide and did all the steps that were not on the above link: [URL] However I still had the same issue. So the symptoms:
1) I don't see notes in the apps->office menu, but I am able to start it via:
cd /opt/ibm/lotus/notes/framework
../notes
2) I get the login window and am able to go through the setup (pointing to the notes id file, and my domino server etc). However at the end of it all, no GUI is displayed. Even though lnotes shows up in the running processes.
3) In the terminal window I get the following error:

With the release of Lotus Notes 8.5.2, it looks like Ubuntu 32bit support is there, however I am running 64bit Ubuntu 10.04.
I had 8.5.1 (32bit) installed and it was working fine. I did take alot of tweaking to get it running.
Just wondering if anyone has tackled the new 8.5.2 which is supposed to be much nicer in Ubuntu.
I've tried removing the old 8.5.1 and the install for the 8.5.2 doesn't really work correctly even with "--force" commands.
Always a challenge with Notes and Ubuntu Why they didn't make 64bit debian packages is beyond me.
My laptop has 10.4 and desktop has 10.10.My HD is damaged due a power surge. However, I was lucky to access my ubuntu home directory. How can I move my Tomboy notes from my laptop to desktop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to delete all of my notes on the server. I've gone to "Notes" (along the top bar) and deleted them one by one. It now says, "You have 0 notes. Get setup!". Going back to "Dashboard", I see:

Contacts 0
Notes 6.
I'm deleting all these because when I connected to the server, it got confused and started downloading from the server when it was supposed to be uploading from my machine. That caused me a bit of panic, you might imagine. How can I make sure this doesn't happen again??
I get this message when clicking the upgrade button in Update manager. I am attempting to upgrade from 10.10. The full message is as follows:

How to sync notes to Dropbox, but after the upgrade to 11.04, I can't get Tomboy to sync.

But I don't know what hidden file he's talking about. When I press ctrl+h in all the Tomboy folders, nothing comes out, but there are a few manifest.xml files.
I tried to install Lotus Notes 8.5.2 (deb package) on Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit. Unfortunately, Lotus is not able to complete the installation! I googled and I found a guide on IBM forum (but for 10.04 release) and on [URL], I installed required dependencies (ia32lib, all getlibs, ecc) but I am not able to continue the installation. I tried to install in different Ubuntu release. Here a summury:
- Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit: Lotus Notes and FP2 install and works fine
- Ubuntu 11.04 32 bit: Lotus Notes and FP2 install and works fine (also in Unity environment)
- Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit: Lotus Notes cannot install.
