Virgin install of F13. Rsync (copy) notes from backup harddisk of F12 to /home/bill/.gnote. Release notes say "Notes stored in previous versions are automatically migrated from .gnote to .local/share/gnote in the users home directory." Nothing is migrating anywhere. Before I start messing about. I have I missed something dumb?
View 2 RepliesI would like to share gnote notes between two computers. The documentation talks about synchronizing with a server, but there are no synchronization menu options as the manual suggests. Is is possible to either synchronize notes between two computers or at least export notes from one computer and copy to another? This seems incredibly simple and basic but surprisingly I can't find a way to do it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded from Fedora 13 to Fedora 14 and noticed something strange when I used Yum to install GNote and Inkscape. Yum installed the Fedora 14 version of the programs, but installed some dependencies that were actually from Fedora 12 and 13. The output below shows what packages were installed.

When I ran the yum command to list all of the packages for the dependencies in question, it only listed the version for Fedora 12 or 13. Is there something wrong with one of my repositories or do these Fedora 14 programs actually use packages from previous versions of Fedora?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've searched a number of forum posts and have seen similar issues but the specifics are different and I haven't yet found a solution. I'm running Gnome on Fedora 13 and clicked "Install Updates." About 513 packages were set to be installed, but I get an error midway through:

I've tried installing RPM Fusion keys and get an error saying they require "system >=15" (Fedora 15, I'm guessing?) and I don't recall ever adding these keys manually myself. Or if so, I can't recall what I did to get them in there.
I've read that some people can solve this by using a "--nogpgcheck" at the command line, but I don't know what the command line equivalent will be for this update. Ideally, I'd like to continue using the GUI updater since it offers all the info about the packages. So my hope would be to:
1. Identify the problem gpg keys
2. Install the right ones
3. Run the installer again and see everything work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are trying to consolidate some servers to run as virtual machines on our F13 host.After booting into SystemRescueCD, we take a dd of /dev/sda (we initially did a dd of sda1 before realizing our error)We transferred this image (EDI.img) to our F13 VM host. and created a new virtual machine using the graphical Virtual Machine Manager using "import an existing disk image" and the same EDI.img file as the storage volume.
Unable to boot, I've done much googling to find the registry entries of MigrateIDE.reg - which I've manually added to the image's registry via chntpw -e /mnt/windows/WINDOWS/system32/config/system.Another forum's posting advised to boot from the XP iso and allow this installation process to "repair" the existing installation. I'm still sitting at a blank screen with minimal CPU activity. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to migrate a physical XP machine to be a virtual machine running under F13?
was home when the attack took place I was running a vnc server that was tunnled thru ssh. At approximatley 5:00 pm eastern time my box turned on firefox and flashed a popup. I tried to get to the logs and then realized that the entre system had been hijacked the remote desktop icon was active there was a message in gnote saying "youve been own3d". The system Is a old mac mini PPC system and i plan on looking at the system log with a netboot cd by running linux rescue at boot. my question is how do i gain access to the system log from a rescue cd to find out how much damage this hacker did?

I have a ~/.gconf/apps/gnote directory, but no files to set the individual keybindings. The keybindings work and can be set from within gnote, so i know they have to be somewhere on my system. Anyone have any ideas where I might look? I'm using Openbox on a Karmic command line install. I have no gconf-editor, and gnote looks to be the only program installed that uses gconf.

I have an essential problem with Gnote. Although a word is linked it is not clickable nor underlined. Basically there is not any sign showing that the word is a link. It looks like an ordinary word. However, when I select it then "Link" button becomes enabled and if I click to that button it takes me to the linked point. I think it is a very basic problem but strangely I haven't found anything about it in my searches. Is this Gnote's normal behavior? I have Ubuntu 10.04 and had this problem in both Gnote 0.6.2. and 0.7.2 (latest release).

C. Should I have created a new user instead or renaming an existing one?
D. Can the primary group be renamed?
I've had this problem for months now and I couldn't find a way to solve it. The issue is pretty simple: 'gnote' app auto-starts when the system is booted and I've yet to find a way to stop it.
I've checked the following folders:
/home/user/.config/autostart/
/home/user/.kde/Autostart/
/home/user/.local/share/autostart/
And I've also checked the following apps/modules:
'Boot-up Manager' (BUM)
Autostart - KDE Control Module
And Nothing. No sign of 'gnote' anywhere.
Now, I know I could just uninstall the app and forget about this (I don't even use it anymore) The thing is that I'm really amazed of how incredibly difficult it is to manage something as simple as the apps that start-up with the system (something that could be done in the deprecated Windows XP with 'msconfig' since it first came up, I don't know.. a decade ago?) I want to understand how this works because I like Ubuntu + KDE a lot and I have NO intentions of going back to Windows.
I Clam-scanned a bunch of old CD's.. Clam found 9 infected notes infected with: "Worm.Allaple-319"... I wonders if this was my problem with Ubuntu always failing..? These are some of my best notes.. Is it possible to clean the bugs out of them with Fedora..?

I have been looking for a replacement for ACT (I recently migrated from XP) and this looks like it might fit the bill. I switched from Windows 7 to Linux and when I'm trying to import my database i get error 1044. It used to work when I was using Windows 7. I was able to export the database from my localhost.
