Ubuntu :: Get Rid Of U10.04 Orange?

May 9, 2010

From the outlines to what you select in Ubuntu, like when selecting an application to highlighting things in a browser and having it turn orange.

This is what I mean:
-The orange selection of the Getting Started Button

-The oranging of the outlining at the bottom I did with the mouse

Ubuntu Networking :: Get Orange ZTE MF636 3G+ Mobile Broadband Working

May 6, 2010

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 on my netbook and I am trying to get my Orange ZTE MF636 3G+ mobile broadband working.

Actually, about two times it worked and was connected and I was using it. Though that appears to have been a random and non-recratable event.

Code:
I tried usb_switchmode but that tells me:
Looking for target devices ...
Found devices in target mode or class (1)
Looking for default devices ...

[Code]....

I do notice that sometimes the device is mounted as a CD. I've tried ejecting it and it appears to be recognized (i.e the above messages appear in dmesg).

Ubuntu :: Startup Screen With The Orange Progress Bar - Hardy Won't Boot

Aug 1, 2010

I've been running Ubuntu for a few years now and this is the first time in a while that I've been really stumped. My power went out earlier today. Of course my Ubuntu box was on, so it had a hard shutdown. When it booted back up upon power coming back on, it went to the normal Ubuntu startup screen with the orange progress bar, but stopped about halfway through. It then goes to a black screen, with a continuous stream of y's scrolling down the left of the screen. Like this:

[Code]....

So, I try selecting other sessions (Ctrl-Alt-F1, F2, etc) and only get anything from F1, where it says "Starting Up... <cr> Loading, please wait..." I then reboot into recovery mode and get the same continuous y's. However, now when I press Ctrl-Alt-Del, I get the Recovery Menu, which lets me into a root shell. Below is my fdisk -l output.

Ubuntu Networking :: Wifi LED Behaviour Incorrect - Blinks Between Orange And Blue

May 13, 2010

I'm having a bit of trouble with my wifi. Every time the network has activity, it blinks between orange and blue. The normal behaviour of the LED is to be blue when wifi is enabled and orange when disabled. Often it blinks rapidly between the two, sometimes appearing white the change is so rapid. You can see how this would be annoying (as well as raise some concern over the life of the LED's)...

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit. My computer is an HP Pavillion dv7 1135nr. Wifi hardware specs: Realtek RTL8101, Atheros AR5007.

Ubuntu Networking :: Ethernet - No Green Or Orange Lights Flashing At Back

Jun 22, 2010

i am getting really pissed off with my new core i5 system I have a gigabyte p55m-ud2 mobo ([URL]) which's got a Realtek 8111D lan chipset it connected to my router after fresh install of ubun10 and then i installed MacOSX 10.6.3 and it worked there too then i came back to ubuntu and it didn't work anymore, after several restarts it was still not working until i took out the power cord and mobo battery, and reinstalled them back later which caused ethernet to work once again. but then after a while it started not to work anymore, which usually got fixed with a reboot. now this time i had ethernet working and i just resumed from screensaver and it stopped agian

there are no green or orange lights flashing at the back and when i take the cable out and reinsert it nothing comes on but with a shutdown they do come on i don't have this problem on the other harddisk which now has win7 and i some times manually change the sata cable to boot into windows and use itunes and some other stuff to load music to my iphone. I dont like to have dualboot and i dont like to use win7 either i just have it on the other hard disk just in case

is the manual switching of hard disk causing this to happen? why do i get it working with restart/shutdown and when i am using it fine it just decides to stop working after a resume from screensaver or sometimes for other reasons and why does none of this happen on win7 is there a way to reconfigure the ethernet drivers or other stuff without a reboot i am thinking it might be a problem with network manager or a bug or something network manager is really crappy and i used to use wicd until that started to do funky things ( like not connecting to hidden networks, launchpad Bug #473817)

Ubuntu :: Change Orange Default Colors For Loading Bars And Stuff?

Nov 5, 2010

How do I change the ugly default orange color for the loading bars and stuff? I know how to change things with the window manager, but that only changes the frames and "min, max, close" buttons. I like everything about the theme I have, and the way the window manager is set, except it uses that ugly orange color when things are loading or downloading. How do I change that part? Can I change only that part by itself?

Ubuntu Installation :: Noticed That The Connection Flashed Orange For A Bit And Then Returned To Simply Flashing Slow?

Apr 6, 2011

I just did a new install on a pc chips p23g motherboard based machine. This motherboard has a built in 10/100 connector. When installing I noticed that the connection flashed orange for a bit and then returned to simply flashing slow. Its my understanding that if you have a green steady light and a flashing orange then there IS a connect. If this is true then, for some reason the install didn't find it or didn't install a driver for it. I installed 2 times just to make sure.Oh, when installing, off the dvd (10.4) it said there was a problem but it would give me a desktop so that I could figure it out.I am clueless. There was a box to install and that is what I have been using. Obviously, I am missing something here

I have an old Compaq Pro desktop with Ubuntu 8.04 installed. been using it without a major problem until four days ago. When I attempted to boot all I got was a screen with green vertical lines at the top and horizontal yellow, red, and orange lines below that. Since I recently had downloaded a new kernal I tried to use another kernal but that got the same result. I tried to boot with a live cd and finally got it to boot in low graphics mode. I have also tried to boot into the safe mode and tried the recovery option.got the following warning:xserver-xorg postinst warning: overwriteing possibly customized configuration file; backup in /etc/X11/xorg.conf .20100323151611I have no idea what that means or what I should do. Ubuntu Installation :: New Ubuntu User Can't Load Ubuntu Or Windows

Oct 7, 2010

I'm currently running off of my live-cd, and after spending 4 hours of my life trying to fix this myself, i figured someone out here has to know how to help me. Basically, i wanted to try linux, then liked it enough to decide to put on one of my usb-drives (320g adata nobility NH92), and i couldn't get it to boot anything but windows w/o the live-cd, which would then boot the live-cd, lol, in other words, i couldn't get it to boot at all from the external, even though i had changed the setting in my bios to boot from usb first, and tried manually selecting boot from usb and all that fun stuff.

Sooo... eventually i decided it might be a problem with the bootloader, and while i'm not exactly sure at this point what i have done to my computer, all i can successfully boot is the live cd. When I try to boot w/o the live cd, whether i try to boot from my internal (windows) drive, or external, all i get is a device not found error.I think i could fix it if i had windows recovery cd's (i'm running xp, btw), or installation cds, but... unfortunately, they died in a terrible accident. So i have no cd's at all for windows. :/

Ubuntu Networking :: Ubuntu 2 Ubuntu Via Ethernet While Still Using WiFi?

Jan 26, 2010

I'm wondering if this is even possible. I've searched high and low and have yet to find and answer to this particular setup.

The setup:
Router is in another building.
Desktop connected by WiFi
Laptop connected by WiFi
Both the Desktop and the Laptop are in the same building together. About 5' apart.

SSH server is setup on Desktop
FreeNX client is setup on Laptop

So they can connect just fine via WiFi for remote desktop control of the Desktop from the Laptop (so SSH and FreeNX are working). Is it possible to connect the 2 pc's directly to each other by Ethernet cable AND transfer files between them by Ethernet while still being connected to the Internet by WiFi on them both?Or would the WiFi have to be disabled while using the Ethernet connection?Neither has a Gigabit Ethernet NIC so I know it would at least require a crossover cable or another router to connect the 2 by Ethernet cable. The idea behind all this is to be able to transfer files between computers quickly by Ethernet while the computers are still busy doing other things on the Internet by WiFi.

Ubuntu :: Connecting Ubuntu To Ubuntu Through VNC / Remote Desktop

Apr 19, 2011

The scenario is as follows - I will be moving across the country and my desktop will stay here powered and online, while I move with a laptop. I need a way to connect to the desktop for file streaming(music and movies) as well as using the virtual machines. I have thought about SSH and VNC.I need something failsafe. That's priority one. I won't be around to fix it if it breaks. I can set the computer to come on in the BIOS at a certain time if the power went out. But if I can get in remotely the whole setup is useless.SSH only provides terminal use, correct? So if I chose that route I would be able to access the computer via command line and play music and movies with mplayer and such, correct? But I would not be able to run the virtual machines? Because there will be no GUI, right?

I have been playing with Vinagre and Vino through the host and guest of a virtual machine and I cannot get it to connect. Is there a better application? x11vnc? I have forwarded port 5900 on the router and have upnp enabled. Got a better remote desktop suggestion?I would like to run this setup headless.(no monitor) I also would like to run it without a gpu if that is possible to make it more energy efficient. Both computers are 64 bits and will be running Ubuntu 10.10 and soon 11.04.Are these crappy ideas to begin with? Should I go another route to get my files and access the virtual machines?
