One day, I was altering the size of the icons to make them smaller. I first made them larger (to 150%), and then shrunk them down to 66%. I did this through Nautilus while being in the /var/www folder. The Desktop icons resized down to the 66%, as well as all other icons. However, the icons in the /var/www folder remained large (at the 150%). I've tried changing it, and no change occurs in the particular folder.

There has been several other update such as compiz that I do not have installed.Anyway, now I gnome doesn't work properly - at least I think it is Gnome, I cannot switch between windows, I do not have the bar on top with the cross and all I only have one desktop loaded out of 4 and the computer is continuously working.

About my system - Opensuse 11.1 KDE 4.2
I have avant-window-navigator in my startup appplications. This apparently causes gnome to use the Gnome icon theme on boot, instead of the Humanity theme I selected in Preferences->Appearance. I just have to go to Preferences-Appearance again to get the Humanity theme back to work (I don't even have to change any settings, just going there is enough.) When I remove awn from my startup applications, this problem doesn't occur.

View 1 Replies View Relatedsome reason I lost my default icon sizes in Nautilus. This only appears to affect any graphic files like .jpg, .png, etc. that I keep in my "Pictures" folder. I also have this issue with video files that I keep in my "Video" folder.Currently I am running Ubuntu Natty and using the Ambiance theme that is customized with Faenznt icons. Nautilus is customized with Nautilus Elementary. Changing themes has no effect. The folders all appear normal and other icon file types appear normal, it's just my graphic d video files that are appearing small.Running dconf editor shows my icon setting is set to normal. I am enclosing a pic so you can see the folders display at a normal size, but the graphic files do not.

Just wondering if it's possible to change the size of icons when Nautilus is in List View. I tried playing around with gtk-icon-sizes in the gtkrc file of my theme, but there doesn't seem to be a setting for it there. I could just zoom in/out, but when I have the icons the size I want them to be, the text is too small (see attachment).

The icons in the applications pane are very big, I need to scroll multiple times inorder to reach the last program. How to reduce the icon size, so that all the installed programs can be visualized without to much scrolling?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have recently decided to venture into online blogging and other things, and my friend told me wordpress is a great tool for this. I have set up my mysql database, and apache and php are all working fine, and when i copy my wordpress folder into my /var/www/, and edit the config file for my database, i point my browser to[URL] to get it up and running. But i only get the error: "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 7680 bytes) in /var/www/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/plugin.php on line 302". Some googleing seems to suggest that this may be a problem with a php.ini file, but im assuming this is a windows based solution, and im not sure where/what a linux alternative is.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with the notification Area, Indicator Applet, and Indicator Applet Session and the way they appear in the top gnome panel. The icons are scrambled at log in and I have to delete them and replace them to get things looking right. I didn't have this issue in Karmic; it has only occurred since upgrade to lucid. I have reset my gnome config files and the problem still occurs.
As a side note, the issue only seems to occur when the icons in the notification area or session indicator are abnormal. ie, sound is muted, lap top is unplugged, and so forth.
I recently restarted my computer after trying to install an update that was available for ubuntu (linux kernel image update i believe) which failed.
After restarting the computer, the ubuntu splash screen appeared as usual, and now my desktop is gone (see attached image).
I also got a gnome error message (attached) which i've never seen before, but i'm guessing it's related to my absent desktop.
How to restore my desktop?
I just reinstalled Ubuntu Lucid Lynx and an old problem has come back. For some reason I couldn't fix it even in my previous installation. The problem is the top gnome panel. See the photo below: As you can see, the network icon is not shown properly while the Me menu is being shown twice. I can't even restart or log out or shut down at this situation without pressing the keystroke to turn the power off.

Since then, whenever i try to log on, an error message appears saying that Gnome Communications (? i think thats what it said) center didn't configure properly and to contact the computer administrator.
