I know 64 bit Flash has been a headache, but mine was working until yesterday. Symptoms began with it not working in Opera and Seamonkey. I checked the Adobe site and found what appears to be a later version, so I downloaded it, extracted it, then copied it to the relevant directories. That changed nothing at the time, but this morning it stopped working in Firefox as well.
View 8 Repliesi've suddenly got problems with flash - it was working fine until a cuple of days ago.i have flash 10.1.82. 76 ubuntu0.10.04.2 on ubuntu 10.04, but videos and other flash sites tell me i need to upgrade to the latest flash version 10.i've tried flash-aid, which seems to run ok but i still have the problem.at the same time, i can suddenly only run firefox tools > add-ons in safe mode - if i choose tools > addons in normal mode, fx locks up completely, and finally gives me the option to force quit. i've tried re-enabling add-ons one at a time, but no problem until i come out of safe mode.i'm wondering if this is a firefox problem rather than ubuntu or flash. my firefox is 3.6.8

Flash was working perfect until one of the last software updates. Now all I get is "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed."
I tried running:
sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer and got the following message"

Update Manager prompted me to run an update, which I did, then Flash stopped working after I ran ran the update.I first noticed the problem when I was using Chromium, trying to view a video on the BBC website, which displayed the message "Cannot play media. You do not have the correct version of the flash player. Download the correct version".So, I clicked on the download link, which took me to the Adobe site where I selected APT for Ubuntu 10.04+, but that didn't make any difference, so I then tried to view the same video using Firefox, but that displayed the same message.Could someone please tell me what I need to do, in order to get Flash working again?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got a new pc after my two pc's decided to die. I have had them for many years, maybe around 2001. So, I am new to this 64 bit OS. I'm running squeeze amd64. I am having some troubles with flash in Iceweasel. It just stopped working one day. So, I downloaded Firefox to see if flash would work in it. Here's the interesting thing. Iceweasel will play flash. I will close the browser and reopen to discover it no longer wants to play flash. I'll open Firefox, then close it. I'll then open Iceweasel and Flash will work in Iceweasel again.
This happens often. To get Flash to work, I just close Iceweasel, open Firefox, close Firefox, open Iceweasel and go to a flash site and all is good. Is there something I can do to get Flash to always work without opening Firefox?

I've had issues with the later versions of Ubuntu, so in an effort to road-test Firefox 3.5 on Hardy I'd like to change my Karmic/Hardy dual boot to a Hardy/Hardy dual boot, and follow the instructions in [URL] to put the Mozilla build of 3.5 on the new installation.
I can't see any reason why a Hardy/Hardy dual-boot shouldn't work, but does anyone know of any issues with this I might not be aware of?
I configured my Xubuntu laptop to work with my Netgear Wireless router to connect to the Internet. I was able to connect, and downloaded Hardy updates of 184 MB. After installation of the updates, the system prompted me to restart. The Wireless network is not working since then. Tried reconfiguring, but to no avail. The proprietary drivers for my wireless network card have been downloaded and installed... remember, it worked well enough download the updates! View 1 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled Ubuntu on my HP pc-40 computer. I used to run Hardy Heron and am now running Karmic Koala. The cd drive which had had issues for a while, broke after finishing the install, when I tried to get the cd out.I dont know if this has anything to do with it, or if my computer is too old for Karmic Koala, or if possibly the harddrive didn't appreciate being overwritten a second time - but the graphics are not working well (small squares of previous windows linger in my present browser window*)everythin is much slower, and many applications come up without a border, or their windows cant be moved with the mouse.
To top it off, while I tried to fix a bug with the terminal (no border) and uninstalled it, I couldnt install it back. So no terminal, which really makes even a newbie like me sad.If I cant solve it in a few days I will probably try to install a smaller distro via USB - I think Slax can be installed straight to USB without a live cd?
Unable to get high res, colour or 3-D acceleration working with 8.04 Hardy. Not a hardware problem as it works perfectly in dual-boot XP.

When originally installing 11.04 I had problems getting my Ralink 5390 wireless card to work.
Today my computer froze completely and I had to turn it off via the power switch. When I turned it back on, wireless was no longer recognized! My iPod can connect to the network just fine, so it must be an Ubuntu problem. There are no problems with my ethernet connection either.
I researched this and found several threads about blocking and unblocking wireless devices using the rfkill command. Well, unfortunately for me the rfkill command doesn't work. When I type sudo rfkill list or sudo rfkill unblock all, nothing happens; it just returns me to my bash prompt. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling rfkill...nothing.

Now when I reboot grub throws me in the grub shell, if I then type configfile /grub/grub.cfg it starts grub like its supposed to. Tho I cant seem to be able to go straight to the grub menu and no to the shell.
Have just started to use look at crontab. I could use Scheduled Tasks as well as crontab -e in terminal.
I must have changed something because now Scheduled Tasks just seems to load then dropout. Loading a task through terminal is accepten (crontab -e) but doesn't work.
It was working fine. Now, when I boot the computer(9.10 32 bit), I get the message asking me about the certificate. But Pandora never seems to load. I tried to reinstall the AIR app, but it tells me that it is running. I can't find it though. If I try to open Pandora again, nothing ever happens
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a call from a friend who did the distrubution upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10 and all was well for about 2 weeks and then his desktop icons disappeared. He kept running it that way and never looked for help until a couple of days ago he tried to plug in a card reader to get some pictures from his camera and nothing happened. that was when he discovered that he couldn't run Nautilus at all. I had him purge nautilus and reinstall it but then he couldn't even log in to Ubuntu. Very strange indeed. Anyone else experience this? After going over all the settings and finding them what they should be, I just installed 10.04 and all is well except that he lost a few photos.
