Ubuntu :: Firefox Fullscreen \ The Gym Class Display Is Not Zoomed To Full Screen?

May 31, 2011

I am working on a gym class display screen which was built by others. It is operated under Ubuntu. Everytime I click on Firefox, the page goes to fullscreen, but the problem is that the gym class display is not zoomed to full screen (which is what we need). there are black blank parts on both the right and the bottom of the screen. There is no shortcut key working under firefox either, which means I can't zoom the screen or even enter url for any websites.I checked the gym class website on my computer, everything looks perfect. I think there must be some setting wrong on the operating machine.

Dec 16, 2009

I was trying to run a program, needs high graphic, suddenly my computer crashed. I had to restart it, now the resolution has changed, I mean its the same as before "1024x768" but the screen has been widened, it looks like it has been stretched, and zoomed. I changed the resolution, but it didn't help.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Display A Full Screen With An Nvidia Integrated Graphics Controller

Nov 5, 2010

I have recently upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10. However the bottom of the screen is cut off with only a trace of it visible. I had similar problems with version 10.04 where both and top and bottom of the screen were not displayed.

I have noticed that version 10.10 does not use the proprietry driver the previous versions used.

In desparation I have tried Kubuntu but the results are still much the same.

Does anyone have any idea how I can display a full screen with an Nvidia integrated graphics controller.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Obnoxious Bar In Smplayer - Full Screen Isn't Full Screen And There Are Black Edges On Both Sides Of The Screen

Jan 25, 2011

This obnoxious bar has just appeared in Smplayer at the top of the screen. It stays there even when I go full screen. Now full screen isn't full screen and there are black edges on both sides of the screen. I have not be able to figure out how to hide it. I do not need or want this onscreen display. How can I configure Smplayer to make this go away? How can I get my 16:9 full screen aspect ratio back? I have done nothing to mplayer or smplayer as far as editing any or changing any configuration files. I tried several videos and it displays on all of them. It was not there last time I used Smplayer.

Fedora :: Firefox Doesn't Open Full Screen?

Sep 7, 2009

I've had this happen so often in the past, that I'm ready to ditch firefox altogether. I'm running F10 on a 3Ghz Intel dual core processor with a 500gb hdd. l prefer that my browser start up with a full screen when I launch it and firefox has been doing this just fine for the past 8 months. When I fired up firefox (version 3.0.13) this morning, it started up using only half the screen. As I've mentioned this has happened to me in the past and I've never been able to figure out how to get FF back to starting with a full screen. Does anyone know how to make it default back to opening in full screen mode? I've attached an image of how FF is opening now.

General :: Removing A Cascade Of Increasing Zoomed Copies Of The Login Screen?

Apr 5, 2010

My grandson got a little free time on my login screen. When I got back I found the right half of the screen was covered with a cascade of zoomed copies of the regular login display. Each layer of the cascade larger that the previous as one moved right across the screen. When I reboot it is still there. I have tried various hotkey combinations in the hopes that I could change this, but with no result. I have looked for files which might have such a pattern saved. I found a file /usr/share/gnome-session/session-properties.ui with a promising name and inside was a series of 'child' entries, but removing all but the first child entry changed nothing. how to fix it?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Flash Player With Firefox Which Works Fine In Non-full Screen Mode And NVIDIA

Jan 10, 2010

I have downloaded the recommended NVIDIA driver for my Quadro FX 1400 graphics card which has 256 MB RAM. I have my laptop in a docking station and from the docking station is a DVI to HDMI converter then HDMI cable to my TV (the idea is to use it as an internet TV slave! ). When I come to configuring the NVIDIA X Server, it correctly detects both my laptop screen and my TV via the HDMI connection. However, when I come to save the settings for the X server and go to restart it, it cannot save the configuration file. This is most annoying as it does not allow me to use the dualview I need.

The second problem comes when I use something like the BBC iplayer or anything that uses the flash player. I have the latest flash player with Firefox which works fine in non-full screen mode. However, when switching to full screen, the CPU load jumps to 100% and the playback is really jerky. Had this running the beloved windows XP before and could handle full screen no problems. I have seen a few posts here which show workarounds to zoom in on the small screen on Firefox but would prefer to run it in the full screen mode.

OpenSUSE :: Exiting Adobe Flash's Fullscreen Screws Up Display?

Apr 25, 2011

since some update to the latest Flash, I've been getting a weird issue. If I'm watching a flash video in fullscreen (via firefox) and hit "esc" to leave full screen, about 20-40% of the time it will screw up the monitor's display of everything. The entire screen gets weird white and colored pixels randomply all over the screen (see the attached picture). Restarting is the only thing that fixes this. I tried logging out and back in but the issue remains. I have two questions:

1. How do I fix this without a restart?
2. What could be causing this?

General :: How To Fullscreen Application Across Both Monitors Of Dual Head Display

Feb 3, 2011

I have two Ubuntu 10.4 machines (and Ubuntu continues to hide more and more xorg.conf config such that I no longer know where to find it). One is a laptop running dual headed - DP1 is the internal screen, and VGA1 is an external monitor; both are running at 1600x900. The other machine is a desktop running both VGA1 and HDMI1 (which is actually a display port with a DVI adapter) at 1600x900. So in both instances my desktop is 3200x900. I run a VNC server on the laptop and connect to it (via SSH tunnel) from the desktop - when I press the full screen hot key, I get a 1600x900 view of the remote machine on one monitor, and half of my local desktop on the other monitor - the "full screen" only expands to fill one local monitor.

Normally this is exactly what you want when you full screen a web browser, email client, or other application. I'm sure there's some X magic to make it clear what a full screen actually entails, and the vnc client application is just dutifully accepting what it's told. While I would like to keep the normal full screen behavior for regular applications, but when I'm VNCing to another 3200x900 machine, I'd really like full screen to stretch across both local displays. Resizing the window to be "close" isn't quite good enough since I still have local panels at the top and bottom of one display (though I can set them to autohide), plus the VNC client application window border (since it doesn't appear to respect -notitle).

Is there any good way to have X lie to a single application about the "full screen" size? Can I get it to lie to all applications? xrandr --noprimary appears to have no effect.

General :: Fullscreen GLUT App Display Blanks After Approx 30 Minutes

Apr 6, 2010

I'm running a fullscreen display app which shows a 3D scene in OpenGL. The app runs continiously throughout the day unattended.

Here's the sequence of events in how it's loaded:

1) The computer is turned on, and boots into F11 (x86_64)

2) A non-privileged user is automatically logged on

3) The gnome startup applications list contains an entry for a loading script

4) The loading script waits for the network interface (eth0) to ccome up, then starts the display program

This all works just fine, except that about 30 minutes after the computer is turned on and the app starts running, the screen blanks out. Attaching a mouse to the system and moving it around a bit brings the screen back to life. Likewise, SSHing into the machine and killing / restarting the application works as well. Once either of these fixes has been performed, it runs flawlessly for the rest of the day.

I have turned off the screen saver, and set the power settings for monitor shutdown to 'never'.
