1.fedora installable DVD
2.fedora installable CD
3.and also a list of 6 CD's.
I'm confused to select whether i386 or i686.
Mine is Intel pentium Dual core processor.
are these cd's are live(can we try fedora without installing)? will fedora recognize my Ubuntu and windows loaders if Triboot it?
My initial installation is for 10.4 (desktop). I've configured the package manager with my proxy information under the network tab. Downloads are attempted but none are successful. example error:Failed to fetch [URL]
I can download the example above via the firefox browser on the same machine configured with the same proxy.
I've tried changing servers, other hacks, but no change in results. I suspect its a proxy issue, but I don't see how. I did provide the credentials in the http authentication window that my reverse proxy requires.when I try to change servers, I get this message: No suitable download server was found

"Save location not found " etc. So I plug in the drive now it wants to start all over. How do I make it start from where it left off. There are no transmission files on the ISB drive dir. that seem to hold the info and the transmission "queue" has reset as if I had not downloaded any data yet.

Thought i'd ask again before i switch to Ubuntu or go back to Fedora: Has anyone gone to software.opensuse.org: Download openSUSE 11.3 and actually chosen "Installation Medium" as "4.7G DVD", "Direct Link", "32 bit PC", hit the "Download DVD" button and gotten the file "openSUSE-11.3-DVD-i586.iso" which is not 49.0MB?
I mean, the steps above are not rocket science, and not much chance of making mistakes, so i'm not sure how i can get a download popup which specifies that the file is 49.0MB file, if it's not actually that size?
How does ubuntu live cd work? 1) If download a file does ubuntu store the file in the ram?2) How abt installing software in the live cd?

However, when I look into the file it is actually blank saying something like "It works! This is the default web page for this server" which can't be correct since that is not what Aro2220.com actually displays.
Furthermore, when I try to wget files I've put on the server for myself it returns a 404, file not found.
knew to ubuntu and wondering how to down load various files from the net as iam getting them to the down load folder and then im not quite sure which way to proceed i have googled various solutions of which to go through the terminal.
View 9 Replies View Relatedsh:javac: file not found .I want to try to run java on linux but am having problems. I downloaded the Scite text editor and the java jdk (self installer) from java.com. Created the simple helloworld program in the text editor and used ctrl + f7 to try to comiple it but just get the message sh: javac: file not found. After numerous attempts decided to try to uninstall java and start from scratch again. So I downloaded the jdk self installer again and typed in (sudo apt-get install sun-java6-plugin) but now get this:

Now I am facing problem with my PHP file. I have made a test.php script. And copy this file to:
My test.php displays perfectly to my browser with a address:

But when I type:
To my browser address bar, my browser tries to download the file instead of display it.
So I got my DOS 6.0 entry in... but Grub reports file not found. I assume grub is fine, and DOS6 was working and I haven't done anything to it. Needless to say, I'm guessing that I'm telling grub to look in the wrong place for the dos bootloader. Here's what I have in my 40_Custom file:

The "vfat" and uuid of "3c34-9666" were reported by using sudo blkid Do I need to set the root? I thought the uuid took care of that?
After trying to boot into ubuntu grub gave me an error 15 saying the the file could not be found.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIv been using ubuntu on my laptop for just over a year now and thought it about time my desktop got the same. I cant get rid of the vista section of the disk because of things i have on there so a friend gave me a spare 80gb hard drive to have a play with it and go from there. So first of all installed unbuntu 10.10 on the hard drive alls fine i can boot into both vista and ubuntu, i then want to install backtrack 4, so i booted the backtrack disc and off we went, i split the 80gb hard drive in two and installed backtrack to one section, now i cant boot to anything other than backtrack. I got an option for ubuntu although this does look different now (showing up as 'ubuntu, with linux 2.6.35-22-generic-pae') when i go to this option i get the message "error 15:file not found" I also have the option for other operating system, i get this message when i choose this option "error 11: Unrecognized device string"
