I recently switched my secondary/kid's computer to run with linux. I am trying to download a game called wizards101 for them that they play frequently. I keep getting this message reading
Archive: /tmp/InstallWizard101-1.exe[/tmp/InstallWizard101-1.exe] End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on the last disk(s) of this archive. zipinfo: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /tmp/InstallWizard101-1.exe or /tmp/InstallWizard101-1.exe.zip, and cannot find /tmp/InstallWizard101-1.exe.ZIP,period.
I dont know what to do about getting it downloaded. I never had this problem downloading this game on windows.

I was using 2.6.28-14 kernel version, it update me to 2.6.28-15. Now I have upgraded kernels many times, not first timer, but this is a first to me. So I have this wierd system setup, don't ask. Where I use lilo instead of grub, just take it as it comes guys, I have to. At any rate, it upgraded all fine, and I restarted, play the blues I got a "No setup signature found" error and lilo won't boot. So I did some searching on web and everyone says to boot up CD and re-install lilo. Well with grub I've done this many times, no prob bob, but lilo won't work.
So I used my super auto grub CD to try to re-do things. Since grub config and grub was still installed on my Linux partition I tried it right. No go of course, grub says it can't find the partition nor can it mount it. So I tried the beta of lilo on the grub cd and it don't work either. Botched it up worse, first it wouldn't do anything on my second drive, just sat there black screen. Then I did it a second time, let's screw it up some more right. Now it doesn't even find a boot loader in the MBR ha ha.
So at any rate, how in the sam heck do I fix this thing? Short of downloading 10.04 and re-installing everything?? Don't want to do this, too much work when I can just upgrade and keep my stuff installed and setup. So I tried running jaunty from CD and re-loading lilo. So everything is working fine right, I mounted drive and apt-get install lilo and ran lilo. So lilo even telling it what config file to use and where won't find things and won't re-install. So just for grins, even though I thought it wouldn't work I mounted my second drive linux partition, the one with the boot info on it, you ready, to root "/". Then I couldn't unmount

I am trying to install Ubuntu on my Toshiba Satellite 5205-S703 laptop with WinXP Home. The CD/DVD drive no longer works so I have to use the download installer. In fact, I hope to install Ubuntu to help me determine whether the CD/DVD problems are hardware or software related. The computer has no provision to boot from USB either. The download went fine, but as soon as installation started this error message popped up: "An error occured. Could not retrieve the required files. For more information, please see the log file:c:docume~1 oshibalocals~1 empwubi-10.04.1-rev190.log".

I'm interested in GNU/Tiger as recommended by a security guru I know. I did apt-cache search and located the package tiger:Code:tiger - Report system security vulnerabilitiesI also checked the ubuntu web-based package search and found tiger there too along with things like this signed message.Using apt-cache policy, I see this package is universe. I'd like to check the signature/cert/keys of this file before running apt-get install on it to see if it is acceptable given my current apt keys. Can someone explain how to do this?Also, what happens when I try to install a package using "apt-get install" and that package or one of its dependencies is:* unsigned* signed, but not by anyone whose key resides in my apt keyring?

Today, shortly after booting my OpenSUSE 11.3 I got this popup. [URL]. I guess it was caused by the Updater Applet when checking the repos for new updates. But what does it mean? Why do I get this now and not when adding the repo. It seems to belong to the filesystems repo and I have indeed added that some time ago (in order to install davfs2). I'm not sure what it means to accept a signature.
Normally with public key infrastructure, you need to accept other's public keys or certificates containing their public keys. And before doing so you need to verify the fingerprint, otherwise the whole procedure is useless, because it might be a fake certificate / man in the middle talking to you. Once you have accepted (trusted) the public key (or a certificate containing it), the system will check signatures for you.
So the question "do you want accept this signature" sounds weird to me. In openSUSE repos I have come across fingerprints many times before. But whenever I have searched google in order to verify the fingerprint I have not received any useful hit. I would have expected that valid keys and their fingerprints are listed on some web site. It appears there are three instances of package signing keys ... but there has not been any answer.

I keep getting the updates icon popping up asking me to install software that is either already installed (Adobe Flash Player 10.1) or something that fails when I actually try to install is but I am sure it is also already installed (RPM Fusion Repository Config -free and nonfree). When I try to install the RPM Fusion packages it asked me for a Software Signature and then fails with the following message: failed to install signature: Traceback
[code]...
I have the flash player installed already and I am sure I already installed RPM Fusion. how can I resolve this and stop it from constantly asking me to install these packages?

I was trying to write a script to change the signature of the all the methods in a set of scripts.. here is a sample of the same :
old signature :
methodname()
{
method-body
}
New signature:
function methodname
{
method-body
}
That is i need to insert "function" keyword in front of the methodname and remove the () after the methodname.

My initial installation is for 10.4 (desktop). I've configured the package manager with my proxy information under the network tab. Downloads are attempted but none are successful. example error:Failed to fetch [URL]
I can download the example above via the firefox browser on the same machine configured with the same proxy.
I've tried changing servers, other hacks, but no change in results. I suspect its a proxy issue, but I don't see how. I did provide the credentials in the http authentication window that my reverse proxy requires.when I try to change servers, I get this message: No suitable download server was found

I was downloading to a USB drive and went to continue the download without the USB drive plugged in. "Save location not found " etc. So I plug in the drive now it wants to start all over. How do I make it start from where it left off. There are no transmission files on the ISB drive dir. that seem to hold the info and the transmission "queue" has reset as if I had not downloaded any data yet.

I'm running a Knoppix Live CD, and I want to install ClamAV. What I'd really like is to download all the relevant packages and save them onto a USB pen, and then I can install it easily whenever I run the Live CD anywhere and update the definitions at my leisure without having to connect to the internet or go through remodelling Knoppix. I'm not entirely sure how to do this though, mainly because of dependencies. I would think it would be along the lines of cd'ing to the usb and running:
Code:
apt-get -d build-dep clamav-base
apt-get -d build-dep clamav
and then to install use dpkg, but I'm not sure how to get it to look for the dependencies in the same place:
Code:
dpkg -i clamav-base
dpkg -i clamav
I'm just about to go and try it, but I thought I'd ask first to get the wisdom , but also to see if anyone else does something similar and whether they think this is a good way to achieve the goal, regardless of whether this technically works.

Right now I am using UBUNTU Hardy Haron. I just moved from windows to linux. It is very easy to install any games or software in windows. Just double click exe, next - next and finish. I want to install some mario games in my pc (ubuntu). I have downloaded tar.bz2 of it. Extracted it and configure and install-sh both are there. I already tried by ./configure. It requires g++, cpp several packages. Now my question comes. What are those packages? How to find out them? How to install them? Is there any other easy way for installation? What are different type of compilers over here?
