View 6 Replies View RelatedI am installing lucid, have installed nautilus-actions, and am trying to install a "Search for file in the active folder" function into nautilus-actions.. I brought up Nautilus Actions Configuration under System>Preferences and did the following:
Under Action tab
Checked Display item in selection context menu
Unchecked Display item in location context menu
Label: Search For File In Active Folder
[Code]....
when I right click a folder and select "Search For File in Active Folder, it brings up the search tool, but the folder setting is always my home folder--not the active folder. Of course I can change the folder to be searched, but the point was to search in the active folder. I got this Search For File in Active Folder function from an Internet site that I don't remember. However, I thought --path=%M would get me the active folder.
I have never posted here because i never cared to read the rules or understanding how the forum actually works. That being said, before 10.04 there was a button on nautilus that let you change the path buttons for a text box so you could type the path you wanted to go. Now that it has been removed how can i get it back? I know you can use control L to get a text box but pressing control L again does not return the buttons.

~/Dir1/file1.txt
~/Dir2/file2.txt
Then I use the following command:
cd ~ zip out.zip /Dir1/file1.txt /Dir2/file2.txt
In the out.zip i can see two directories (dir1 and dir2) but want only these two files (file1.txt and file2.txt) were in the root of out.zip! I thought the "-D" option is what I need, but it doesn't work
Is there a way to get the full path of a file in C? I have a method that accepts a file name as an argument and is supposed to read the content of the file. The file name might include "../" so this might lead to accessing files outside of the current directory. I tried to use fstat but I could not figure out how to get the full path.

For gcc, it seems that there are multiple include paths like /usr/include and /usr/src/linux/include. How do I check the current include path for gcc via command line? How do I edit it?
What about for cc?
Why do you have to press ctrl-L to use the location text box in Nautilus? There used to be a setting in preferences where you could have it always use the text bar. Now you have to use some gconf command in the terminal. The gconf command I've used also will only work for normal users. If I want to open a root nautilus terminal to move files around between my mounted drives then I have to hit ctrl-l every time. It is really annoying because if I am in a Nautilus window there are lots of times where I need to copy the path to something I am doing in the terminal.
Why does it seem like everything involved with Ubuntu is simplifying things at the expense of having options? I thought GNU/Linux was all about options. I guess it still is, but I just cannot understand why you would completely remove options instead of just putting them in an advanced section or something.
is it possible to edit the nautilus right click menu? what I would like to do is add a new option or modify the copy to or send to in the drop down menu so I can send files to a deferent location.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to print full page on a HP Deskjet F4280 using any kind of software (GIMP for example).
I tried to edit the printer ppd file, turned hardware margins off in the print properties in GIMP, yet when I try to print an image 8.5 in wide on letter size paper, GIMP still leaves approx. 1/8in gap on the paper edge.
The printer hardware can do it: when I simply use the copy function it can print to the very edge of the paper.
Question: does anybody know how I need to edit the ppd file (or other config files) to convince GIMP (or other programs) to print using the full page?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed nautilus-actions in order to edit the right-click menu when I click on pictures. All tutorials I read deal with adding custom entries to the right-click menu. But what I want to do, is to edit the present nautilus right click menu. In particular, I have installed nautilus-batch-rename, which comes in english. I want to translate the right-click entry "Rename files..." to German, since my system language is German, too. I already managed to translate the batch-rename pop-up program entries after clicking "rename files..." by editing nautilus-batch-rename.glade but I would love to translate "rename files..." as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem on my installation of Ubuntu 10.10: it shows 0kb space remaining in nautilus. When I delete files (also out of Trash) it shows there is again space, but within minutes this free space is full again. When I look in Disk Usage Analyzer it says there is 140 GB available and it is impossible that the complete partition of 190 GB is full. But I cannot save or download anything anymore and the system is not very responsive. So it seems to act as if the disk is completely full.

I have openSUSE 11.3 Gnome installed. The nautilus address bar shows the "Button Bar" and if I press Ctrl+L it swaps to the "Text Location Bar". The Text Location bar is where you see the full path to the directory that you're viewing. But I can't set the default addressing to the Text Location Bar.What else should I do to get the text location bar (i.e. the full path) to be the default view in the address bar?
