View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading from 10.10 to 11.04 all of a sudden, the task manager or task bar, keeps changing length. The individual window "buttons" themselves keep changing size - flashing even, and the space between them also changes. It is driving me nuts! The little system tray(?) icons no longer appear in the system tray, but all stacked on top of each other in the top left corner.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have my task list in evolution (mainly so it can sync with my phone and online task list) but I always forget to look at the task list. Is there an application or plugin which periodically displays the contents of the tasklist or even better, it briefly displays the most urgent/important tasks when I login? Or anything else which automatically displays the most important tasks. Currently I have to open the task list and look at them (which I usually forget). I do not mean some kind of alarm when the task is due but more a daily reminder of what to do.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI searched the forum with various terms and didn't find anything, so my apologies if this is a common and/or newbie problem. It seems that when I have a USB driveplugged in to switch the files around, those that I delete are still taking up space. I first noticed it with a Chinese MP3 player and thought it was the player being crappy. I could still play all the songs that were supposedly gone. Today, I noticed it with a little thumb drive that I've had for years. I plugged it into my husband's computer running winXP, and the files showed up in a weird, unusable form. I was able to delete them for real.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI don't know what I have done this time, but on my desktop I have the cube effect, which is working fine. But now when I minimize a page it goes to the opposite end of the taskbar instead of to the workspaces I have.Using Ubuntu 10.04. Not sure if I have explained this properly. Also when I flip the cube to a clean desktop and open a new browser, it doesn't open on that side of cube , but reverts to original workspace and opens in a new tab there.

I'm fairly new to the Ubuntu world but have been simply amazed by what it can do. Someone told me to install Mac4Lin after I was done and I've done that. The desktop looks a lot more like a Mac especially after installing AWN. I do have a bit of a problem and would be very grateful for any assistance here. My taskbar is set to a background pattern which gives it the OSX look. However, towards the left side where the menu's reside, there is a bit which does not show the background pattern and instead has a dull grey color. I've been searching around for where I can tweak that bit to also have the the same pattern as the taskbar but have had no luck. Attached is a screenshot.

Just upgraded to Lubuntu 11.04. Holy mother of God, the default theme is an atrocity. It looks like somebody puked blue on my desktop. I changed the theme but cant figure out how to change the color of the task bar on the bottom of the screen.
(On a completely unrelated note, Firefox now thinks Im British and wants to change color to colour....weird.)

I want an alias to move ~/.sportstracker to ~/Documents/Software/SportsTracker_4.1.1 and then zip it and name the zip file like this SportsTrackerBackup_yyyy-mm-dd (example: SportsTrackerBackup_2010-03-08)Note: I don't mind how the archive is compressed, 7z, rar, zip, tar, etc. Although the higher the compression the better
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a task that I need to let run while I'm away from the computer. It's very CPU intensive and I've even had to throttle down my processor to 3GHz to keep it from overheating. I'm using a combination of GNOME Sensors App and CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor to control the overheating problem. I have the sensors app set to alarm and "killall" at 61 Degrees Celsius. The sensors app has an option where you can enter a command that it will run for you. All I need is to know what command to run that can pause this task. So later I can resume it.
I know it can be done. System Monitor has an option to "stop" a task. It also has "continue". This is how I've been doing it while I'm at the computer. So if anyone knows what the commands are that System Monitor uses, that would be a huge help. By the way, I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 with all current updates.
NOTE: For anyone who is about to flame me for having a computer that overheats and wants to tell me that this is the problem I should be after. It only overheats during this process. Not for any games or compiling or rendering or encoding. Nothing else. I have even bought a new heatsink and fan. I have redone the thermal compound on the Processor. My processor usually runs at idle around 36-39 Celcius and under normal load around 47-53 Celsius.
All open apps when minimised just disappear, they do not go to the task bar. What can I do to get open apps to minimize to the task bar.
