View 1 Replies View RelatedI just recently upgraded to 10.04 so I have to reinstall utorrent. Last time I did it with wine using this method: [URL]. It seemed to work fine with 9.10 but now I try it again and when I double click the utorrent launcher on my desktop it literally does nothing. Doesn't open anything, nor does it even report an error message.

I want to get it running on wine. When I double click the .exe file that I downloaded from the original file, nothing happens OR it gives me this message:It seems like uTorrent is already running, but not responding.
View 7 Replies View RelatedCan anyone recommend a good alternative to uTorrent to run on Ubuntu 11.04? I've tried running two versions of uTorrent in wine and the result were less than impressive to say the least. I also downloaded uTorrent for linux from there site but can't get either package manager to see or access the .tar.gz archive or any extracted files?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've installed Ubuntu to take care of network intensive applications (read P2P). I've noticed what many others: uTorrent was faster than Deluge (and of course Transmission, et al). I know enough about how torrents work to understand that the client should not be THAT important, provided its stable and knows its way around. But still, uTorrent was beating Deluge hands down. Well, after fiddling with all the configuration options in Deluge, I think I could've found the reason for it being slower than uTorrent.
The problem was only evident with poor seeded torrents. I started by noticing that uTorrent saw way more peers, and - most importantly - some more seeds. Sometimes Deluge saw zero seeds and 2 peers, while uTorrent was seeing 2 seeds, and 16 peers. And that was the difference between one happy torrent, and a ditched torrent. But I'm rambling so I'll just say it : Deluge only uses one tracker from a multi-tracker torrent, while uTorrent uses all of them. So in uTorrent you just add the torrent and that's it, while in Deluge you have to force it to check the other trackers by changing the priorities of every one to that each one be at the top of the list long enough for Deluge to get the seed/peers from it.
I want BitTorrent client, similar to uTorrent.
1. I do not want crapware like Deluge or Vuze, who creates unwanted/unselected files and after downloading I must delete all of them.
2. I do not want to use WINE.
I can't get uTorrent installed on my natty Ubuntu desktop pc. After downloading the file, I've copied all the files for the web admin to /var/www. When I run the executable, cpu load goes to 100% and nothing happens . When I go to localhost/ it says loading for a long time, and then " Can't talk to uTorrent client. Try reloading the page."

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to install uTorrent via wine recently, however the following error message keeps popping up - "It seems uTorrent is already running, but not responding. Please close all uTorrent applications and try again." The only reason I'm trying to install uTorrent is to use the scheduling function, to allow downloads during my off-peak times. Any alternative program which has a scheduling function.

I've recently moved my media center pc from windows 7 to Ubuntu, now while on windows 7. I used the machine with XBMC and utorrent with upnp enabled on my router (Netgear WNR2000 v1) and also in the utorrent client for the port mapping. I was also able to connect to the machine from work via remote desktop (via Windows RDP, real/ultra vnc) using either a windows machine or via ubuntu that I have installed on a laptop (externally to my network). Utorrent also was able to talk to my router and ask for the ports it needed via uPnp or even by setting the port forwarding manually.
Since upgrading ( ) to Ubuntu from windows 7 on my mediacenter pc I've not been able to connect via RDP / VNC using port forwarding from the outside world although I added ports 5900 and (i beleive) 3389 to the port forwarding section in my router and pointing it to the static ip on my mediacenter. I'm also not able to get the ports to forward for deluge / vuze at all, if i manaually set port forwarding up then nothing happens and deluge says it has no incoming connections and it also doesn't talk to my router to ask for ports via upnp.
The same also holds true for the linux version of sopcast which will not connect to any streams. I can also replicate the same issue on a laptop that I use with ubuntu installed. If I watch my upnp page on my router config then I can see that my windows clients (Brother & Mom's macine) both talk to the router and ask it for ports so I assume that the router is working as it should be but obviously the fault happens when my ubuntu )10.04.1) clients ask for any kind of ports. By default is there any kind of firewall installed on ubuntu or anything I need to do to allow it to ask for upnp connections?
I'm using Vuze clients and torrents are very slow while in uTorrent under Windows 7 they're very fast. How can I fix it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have utorrent running on wine without issue. I click on the utorrent.exe and it opens and runs great. My problem is that even after setting .torrent files to open with utorrent (instead of transmission which is the defualt) and then try to open them NOTHING happens. I have to go into utorrent and open the torrent files. This is kind of a pain in the butt cause I want to be able to download and run them from my browser so after the download is finished it gets loaded into utorrent.
View 7 Replies View RelatedOS: OpenSuse 11.3 / 32-bit / Gnome. Updates to latest.Issue: while using uTorrent Server Alpha (for Linux) i have encountered a shortcut malfunction. After the program was successfully installed (by that, i mean download and simply modify its settings to be able to execute it as a program, and double click on it & keep it running in a Terminal) and ran for the first time, it came to me that i should make a shortcut to the program, on one of my two "taskbars". So i simply created one and correctly pointed to the application (i left it on my desktop). But after restart, i tried to access it via this shortcut and it indeed started, but returned an error, that the graphical interface (html based) situated and :8080/gui/ was not there, and that it should be downloaded. So i stopped it and went to the desktop folder & ran it in a terminal and VOILA, no problem, everything was good as new.
PS: i was not running the program under sudo and i changed its default login configuration (from a simple "admin" username, to a proper username and password).
I just downloaded Utorrent server for Linux but I don,t know what to use to extract a tar.gz file..?! Or where to extract it to...
View 7 Replies View RelatedI succeed in uTorrent server's install as a daemon in Opensuse 11.4 and it works great. I've already change my fstab file to add a network drive to be mount on startup localize in /mnt/freebox/. This is also working great. The issue is during the startup, utorrent starts before fstab and thus the network drive is unmount.
In my utorrent init.d daemon script, I ask for $Network starts in first time: Code: Required-Start: $network Is there any possibilities to order the startup and ask to fstab to start before uTorrent Daemon?
I'm thinking of installing Ubuntu, but before I do that I'd like to know if installing it removes your copy of Windows. If it does, is there any way I can work around that?

I have a Windows 7 installation with a boot partition on the RAID. I also want to have a dual boot with openSUSE 11.2 but I don't know how to set correctly my partitions. I have some unallocated space next to the Windows C: partition. When I try to install openSUSE it makes a suggestion to create some partitions that i don't need and don't want, and even doesn't mount them. It also creates a / 80GB, /boot 36MB, swap 2GB and /home 20GB partitions, so I am in lack of free space.
I don't know how to create screenshots during installation. Maybe I'll try to reinstall later and pick some screens in english, because my system language is bulgarian.
