OpenSUSE :: Can't Build The Kde Version Anymore

Dec 31, 2008

I've been building Celestia KDE for a long time. I built it on Suse 9.2, 9.3, 10.0, 10.2. Now that I installed 11.1, I can't build the kde version anymore. When it starts to build the kde gui, it looks at QT4 headers in /usr/include and fails. I noticed that Celestia 1.5.1 is available in Suse 11.1. How was this application built?

Debian :: Build Customized Version Of The LMDE2

Jul 27, 2015

I'm currently trying to make my version of the LMDE 2 (based on Debian), but unfortunately, a lot of HOW-TO on this topic, is based on the remastersys, and the main site (and repository) is not available any more. The only one I could find is ubuntu build and they won't work on LMDE because it's Debian based. I also have tried tools like "systemback" - made a 4GB iso image file, and had few options to customize, and "bootcd" package, who had even less options (received a 2GB iso).

So, what I want:

Base system: LMDE 2 + official updates + some new software (like pinta, openshot, deluge etc.) + some removed software + fresh kernel -> compress it all and make an iso image file with option to load in LiveCD/USB mode and also install on HDD. I have made all the chain except "last iso part".

Fedora :: How To Build Kernel Headers Version Arch RPM

Oct 25, 2009

I'm building a Kernel on System A to use on System B. I've followed the walkthrough on [URL], and I get the following rpms:

kernel-debuginfo-common-i686-2.6.30.8-64.hymerfania_dbg.fc11.i686.rpm
kernel-firmware-2.6.30.8-64.hymerfania_dbg.fc11.i686.rpm
kernel-PAE-2.6.30.8-64.hymerfania_dbg.fc11.i686.rpm
kernel-PAEdebug-2.6.30.8-64.hymerfania_dbg.fc11.i686.rpm
kernel-PAEdebug-debuginfo-2.6.30.8-64.hymerfania_dbg.fc11.i686.rpm
kernel-PAEdebug-devel-2.6.30.8-64.hymerfania_dbg.fc11.i686.rpm
kernel-PAE-debuginfo-2.6.30.8-64.hymerfania_dbg.fc11.i686.rpm
kernel-PAE-devel-2.6.30.8-64.hymerfania_dbg.fc11.i686.rpm

What I don't get are any
kernel-headers-<version>.<arch>.rpm
Files. Don't I need them to rebuild modules and drivers on System B? Otherwise, how should I copy my new headers to System B? BTW, System B crashes when I try to build the Kernel on it, that's why I'm building debugger Kernels on System A.

General :: Build A Glibc Version For Target Machine's Kernel?

Jan 8, 2010

AFAIK, in addition to implementing the standard C library, glibc provides wrappers for system calls, threading support, and basic application facilities. So because of that, glibc that will be used on my target system should be built based on the kernel version running on my target, right?

Based on the above, I am trying to build a glibc version for my target machine's kernel. However, I don't know to to build a glibc library for a target system and also where on the target's filesystem should be put? In which location Linux will start looking for the libraries required for a program to run (should I create an /etc/ld.so.conf file)?

Ubuntu :: Finding The Cause For Deluge Being Slower Than UTorrent?

Oct 18, 2010

I've installed Ubuntu to take care of network intensive applications (read P2P). I've noticed what many others: uTorrent was faster than Deluge (and of course Transmission, et al). I know enough about how torrents work to understand that the client should not be THAT important, provided its stable and knows its way around. But still, uTorrent was beating Deluge hands down. Well, after fiddling with all the configuration options in Deluge, I think I could've found the reason for it being slower than uTorrent.

The problem was only evident with poor seeded torrents. I started by noticing that uTorrent saw way more peers, and - most importantly - some more seeds. Sometimes Deluge saw zero seeds and 2 peers, while uTorrent was seeing 2 seeds, and 16 peers. And that was the difference between one happy torrent, and a ditched torrent. But I'm rambling so I'll just say it : Deluge only uses one tracker from a multi-tracker torrent, while uTorrent uses all of them. So in uTorrent you just add the torrent and that's it, while in Deluge you have to force it to check the other trackers by changing the priorities of every one to that each one be at the top of the list long enough for Deluge to get the seed/peers from it.

OpenSUSE :: Find All The Build-deps Or What They Are For That Matter To Build Boxee

Feb 20, 2010

I'm in love with my Opensuse 11.2. Love my KDE 4.4. The only thing I miss from my Ubuntu installation, is the ability to use Boxee. I would be more than willing to compile Boxee from source. I only have 2 problems with that:

1) I don't know where I can find all the build-deps or what they are for that matter to build Boxee.

2) I'm running on a Netbook. Yes, my measly Intel Atom is no fun for compiling and building.

What are my options/what can I do to get Boxee up and running on 11.2? I've tried searching on build service for an RPM, but I think due to legal restrictions, Boxee can't be on there.

Ubuntu Networking :: UPnP / Port Forwarding - XMBC And UTorrent

Sep 15, 2010

I've recently moved my media center pc from windows 7 to Ubuntu, now while on windows 7. I used the machine with XBMC and utorrent with upnp enabled on my router (Netgear WNR2000 v1) and also in the utorrent client for the port mapping. I was also able to connect to the machine from work via remote desktop (via Windows RDP, real/ultra vnc) using either a windows machine or via ubuntu that I have installed on a laptop (externally to my network). Utorrent also was able to talk to my router and ask for the ports it needed via uPnp or even by setting the port forwarding manually.

Since upgrading ( ) to Ubuntu from windows 7 on my mediacenter pc I've not been able to connect via RDP / VNC using port forwarding from the outside world although I added ports 5900 and (i beleive) 3389 to the port forwarding section in my router and pointing it to the static ip on my mediacenter. I'm also not able to get the ports to forward for deluge / vuze at all, if i manaually set port forwarding up then nothing happens and deluge says it has no incoming connections and it also doesn't talk to my router to ask for ports via upnp.

The same also holds true for the linux version of sopcast which will not connect to any streams. I can also replicate the same issue on a laptop that I use with ubuntu installed. If I watch my upnp page on my router config then I can see that my windows clients (Brother & Mom's macine) both talk to the router and ask it for ports so I assume that the router is working as it should be but obviously the fault happens when my ubuntu )10.04.1) clients ask for any kind of ports. By default is there any kind of firewall installed on ubuntu or anything I need to do to allow it to ask for upnp connections?
