Ubuntu :: Thunderbird And Lightning Add On?
Nov 19, 2010I'm running Thunderbird/3.0.10 on Lucid 10.04, there does not seem to be a Lightning add on available for this version. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to get this up and running?Otherwise I like 10.04 and intend to stick with it till the next LTS release as I need a stable desktop environment.

Oct 4, 2010I am running lucid with Thunderbird 3.1.5 (32 bit) and trying to install Lightning 1.0b2. Whenever, I install Lightning, I cannot restart TB, if I drop it. No error message. I have to start TB from the Terminal with "thunderbird -safe-mode", remove Lightning, and then everything works. I read of others having problems with TB and Lightning, but most of these are 64 bit. I am 32 bit. Please note that I have removed all other extensions from TB, but I still can't run Lightning.
One concern I have is that even though Synaptic says that TB 3.1.5 is install, the Help>About says just TB 3.1. It doesn't include the ".5". I am concerned that despite what Synaptic says, I might not have version 3.1.5 installed. Is there any way to check if I really have version 3.1.5 installed? I tried to install the latest nightly build of Lightning, but I got the error message "Lightning 1.0b3pre could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 3.6.10". how to get Lightning to run with Thunderbird?

Oct 22, 2010With the most recent upgrade of Thunderbird to 3.0.9 I was unable to find a 64-bit version of the lightning calendar plug-in. I tried compiling my own copy of thunderbird v3 from source (3.0.10pre) and it loaded into 3.0.9 perfectly! Rename the attached files to drop the last ".bz2" (files should end in ".00" and ".01") then combine both files with the command

If you want to try compiling your own copy instead, just read the websites quoted in the header to ensure you have all dependencies then simply run this batch file

Ubuntu :: Lightning Calendar With Thunderbird
Oct 31, 2010Have just installed Kubuntu 10.10 Maverick 64-bit - works fine. Using xul-ext-lightning (lightning 1.0b2) with a symlink for local.sqlite to the same on the Windows 7 64-bit partition, I can have the same calender on both partitions.
I also have a Kubuntu 10.04 Lucid LTS 32-bit partition and I would like to do the same, but cannot do it. When trying to install lightning 1.0b2 I get the message "not compatible with Thunderbird 3.0.10". So I disable the compatibilityCheck and it installs okay. But the calendar does not show any data with the symlink. Why is that? Different sqlite versions?? Or is it so that the 64-bit data cannot be read by a 32-bit program??
So I try older versions of lightning.xpi - no luck. After some additional googling I try installing Thunderbird 3.1.6 32-bit using Ubuntuzilla. Compatibility OK with 1.0b2 but still no calendar data using the symlink.

After doing some reading I was not the only one having some problems,
To Install Lightning, I needed Thunderbird 3.1, and installed on my system is 3.06.
When I did that I now get this message,
W: Failed to fetch [URL... 404 Not Found
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Oct 20, 2010I've been wrestling with the whole Thunderbird, funambol and lightning compatibility issue for some time now, and was excited to come across this link that had the steps to compile both thunderbird and funambol for 64bit linux so they'd work nicely together.So I followed those steps, and got them both working together, and syncing contacts.I then went to get my calendar back up and running, and can't for the life of me find a version of lightning that will install successfully. Does anyone know if this is even possible at this stage, and if so, where I can find a version of lightning?I now have:
Thunderbird(Lanikai) 3.1.6pre
Funambol 1.0b4
Ubuntu(64bit) 10.04

Jul 17, 2010The version of Thunderbird which is in openSUSE 11.3 is 3.05. Alas, the Lightning add-on only works with Thunderbird 3.1+. I use this add-on a lot!
I'm very tempted to just download Thunderbird 3.1 and install it, but I'd rather "keep it in the family" and have zypper managing the updates etc. Is 3.1 in the pipeline for openSUSE 11.3???

Mar 5, 2011in my home folder i have the /.thunderbird folder, and in this folder i have the profile. ini, i have changed some things in this ini folder so that i can put my data on another partition. now i have installed lightning, i wonder where that data is installed ?
are all extesions of thunderbird installed and safed under the directory specified in the profile.ini ? or does lightning safe the appointments somewhere else.
Fedora :: Lightning Does Not Show Up In Thunderbird Interface
Mar 2, 2010I have thunderbird-lightning rpm installed but it doesnt show up in thunderbird. In fc11 with thunderbird 2 it was on the left bottom of the screen I think. I checked all the settings tabs but I can't find any reference to lightning. Is this a bug or is there something I have to do to see it? For now I'm using the standalone app sunbird but I really like to have the integrated lightning back in thunderbird. I also tried the lightning plugin from the plugins tab but it complains it's not compatible with gcc3 or something so I guess that's why there is a rpm package.

Mar 1, 2010I'm looking for a method to sync my calendars on my IMAP server with both my Thunderbird/Lightning any my Blackberry. I found "IMAP Calendar Proxy" here recently, but it has been inactive for 5 years. I've seen people suggesting the use of services like Plaxo and such, but I don't like the idea of a third party messing with my calendars and contacts. Also, I've had to remove several viruses from computers with Plaxo, and I'm not sure if it in itself is a virus or not..... It certainly is a thorn in my side as is. This is for my personal IMAP server, so I'd prefer a free solution even if it is more difficult to install than a paid version. I mainly need it to just sync my calendar to my Blackberry and Thunderbird and couldn't care less about the contacts.
I've been Googling for things for quite some time now, and haven't really found anything that says that it will work with Blackberry and Thunderbird. They really only give a sense of maybe with nothing really defined. I can put on an Ubuntu server to sync everything? I don't want to leave my computer on all the time, and RIM has yet to come out with something decent to sync Blackberries and Thunderbird properly as far as I know.

Aug 1, 2010Is it possible to build a MacOS X compatible pc using of-the-shelf compoments?
For example, what motherboards are considered compatible (i presume they must have EFI, lol), what sound cards, wifi cards, video cards etc.
Also, why not a start an OS X compatibility topic/list?
It would be very nice, as many people would be able to simply print the list and go shopping (no need to search a billion other sites with ambiguous info) and it would allow many people to get a mac for the price of a pc
PS: Don't start recommending the OSx86 operating system. It's a heavily kluged up OS I do not want. I want the real OS X.

Nov 11, 2010Does anyone know an Ubuntu 10.10 compatible video capture card that has composite connections for video and audio (yellow, red and white)? It must be external and do its own processing so it doesn't use the computer's own CPU. I intend to capture a live stream and have the Ubuntu PC serve it to other computers. I may use VLC or MythTV. I have looked on various related sites but finding a compatible USB one which does its own decoding is hard to find.

I desperately need some help on finding the proper configuration of OS version and driver version. I installed 10.04 with the 10.3 driver package from ATI's site and it was a no go - I had nothing but problems.
I would like to have full 3d acceleration so I can play some games through Wine. Fedora :: System Network Servicves Are Not Compatible With Version
May 28, 2011Title pretty much says it all. I was working fine this morning on f15. Did an update and am now getting the above message. Have no internet access from affected machine. Running "NetworkManager" or "systemctl enable NetworkManager.service" does not fix the issue. Anyone else get this today? I know there was a similar known bug during pre-release.

Jul 29, 2011After a recent update of fedora 15 (2 days ago) I lost my networkmanager icon in top panel completely. Then I check network manager version & found it's version 0.8.0.9997-5.git20110702. After this update I can't connect to internet by any means either via wired or wireless connection. When I try to open Network option from system settings it giving me an error: System network services are not compatible with this version.
I also try to open network-connection-editor by pressing Alt+F2 & typing:
nm-connection-editor
But it not works as well, I can't see any existing network connection there, moreover I can't even manually add any type of network connection there including mobile broadband! Then I do some googling from my windows machine & found this thread- [URL]. According to this thread I try to do downgrading of following 3 packages-

networkmanager-gnome
But I can't downgrade via yumex as there's no internt connection in fedora. so i do a trick of myself. yumex suggests me to downgrade them to previous version 0.8.0.999-2.git20110509
so i manually download those 3 packages from my windows machine & copy them to /var/cache/yum/... folder. After that I do downgrading via yumex. But even after downgrading problem isn't solved. Same things happening still. No networkmanager icon in top panel & no internet
at present, there's no internet connection in my fedora 15 machine & I'm writing this post from my windows machine.
Moreover when I give this command in terminal:

What I did notice is that the e-mails sent are being received on the other end, but I do not have a copy in the Sent folder. It seems as though my e-mail account has been hijacked, and I changed my e-mail account password as a precaution. I am also getting e-mail BACK in my in box that I sent to other people. My AT&T account uses yahoo and my account through AT&T was originally bellsouth.net What can I do to make sure I get a copy of all of my e-mail sent out?
