Does anyone know of a good web page creator that is easy to install on Sabayon 5.3?? I'm new to Linux and web page creating, so be gentle! I have registered a web address and a host, now all I have to do is get the info to the world.

How can I get an older document into the page for test viewing? Does the document have to be a certain kind? When I put one in, it looks like a link and will not open, I want it to be there in full straight off.And creating an email, can it be the new one the host will maintain for me as I pay?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had Linux Mint installed and it became subject to random freezes. The system was never under any serious strain at the times that this occurred. I went to the Ubuntu forums and discovered that this is a relatively common problem with Ubuntu and that there's no fix available. I tried almost all advice offered there, without any remedy. These included disabling Flash, Java, Compiz, Nvidia drivers etc etc.
I decided to try another distro. Since then I've had random freezes in Suse, Sabayon and even with a Fedora live disc. Oddly enough, I never have this issue with Win 7 (I dual boot). If this is a hardware problem, why does it never occur under Win 7? If it is, as I suspect a hardware issue, how can I identify the source of the problem and resolve it?
Thinking of putting sab alongside suze 11.3, I wonder if the bootloaders are compatible (versions of grub) or if only native systems (apart from windows/apple) are acceptable.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on setting up a computer lab for my kids' school, and am planning to use Ubuntu LTSP and Sabayon User Manager to lock things down.
When I edit a profile in Sabayon, and create the default desktop icons I'd like them to have (Firefox for example), when the user logs in the icon is generic and when clicked says:
"The application launcher Firefox.desktop is not marked as trusted. If this application launchers source is unknown to you then it may be unsafe to launch."
If I click "Mark as Trusted", the Firefox icon pops up and all is well. However whenever a new user logs in, they have to go through this process and I'm worried it may confuse them.
Why are application launchers created by Sabayon not trusted by my LTSP users?
Ubuntu 9.10 by the way.
I'm in the process of trying Sabayon 5.2. After the initial install, I had 800 packages to install to upgrade - went very smooth - but on re-booting, the auto login was gone. No problem, I reset using 'run command' 'kdm' and the 'convenience' screen. Checked all the correct places, and re-booted - no auto login, and I can't get it to 'stick'?
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn FC11 64 bit with Adobe flash plugin for Linux installed, I see segfault errors from "npviewer" in /var/log/messages. The only browser I have tried yet, Firefox, has glitches every now and then. Sometimes it shows the title of a page in a tab, but the page is blank. This can even happen when I try the Google main page. Is it true that npviewer has something to do with Adobe flash? Is there a way to fix the problem? If it is caused by Adobe flash, is there a different plugin that will replace Adobe flash player?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi am able to try ubuntu and everything works fine until i try to install. the menu comes up to the first page where it tells you to plug in your machine and make sure there is enough disk space and network connectivity. when i hit next on this page the mouse icon changes but the next page never loads. the longest i let it hang there was 2 hours. ive tried multiple times with the same result.

What is my problem? I have a page (one page - text an graphic) to print. When I sent it to my printer it prints OK. When I sent it agian, the output is totally garbled. When I sent it again (a third time) it is OK. Sent it again (4th time) it is garbled. Sent it again ... you get the picture ;-). Alternating good and bad pages.
What is my setup? I run Fedora 14 with Cups 1.4.6. The printer is a HP Deskjet 940C. It is connected to a linksys wireless print server. It is configured in CUPS to use ipp printing. The driver I use in Cups is 'CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.6 Simplified (color, 2-sided printing)'.

But when I visit http:/localhost ，it shows up the list of files in <var/www/html> as if a ftp server browsed in web page. I applied for DDNS account & input it into router correctly . I set virtual host in server to redirect any access from port 80 to 192.168.1.2:80 in LAN . Just for in case , I also download and running the DDNS software & installed it on PC 192.168.1.2 in LAN . My DDNS provider is oray.cn . It's a Chinese server provider . I don't think there is anything wrong with oray.cn . But if you need its information just visit oray.cn (Google can translate it for you). View 16 Replies View RelatedI have a Canoscan LiDE 30 scanner which works fine in Linux. I haven't used it in months, and never since moving from Jaunty x86_64 to Fedora 11 x86_64. This evening I suddenly need to scan two pages to send to someone via e-mail, and the recipient is desperate to receive them. Naturally, Xsane has decided this is the moment to screw me.
The problem: I cannot figure out how to tell Xsane that the page size is 8.5 11. It insists on scanning only the left side, 3.99 x 11. I cannot find a page size anywhere in any of the buttons.
In Preview I once got it to scan the entire page, but could not figure out how to save the image to file. Subsequently I have not been able to figure out how I did it. In any event, scanning from the small main window always scans 3.99 x 11. Adjusting the scan area manually in the Preview window allows me to change the size area in the small main window to 8.5 x 11, but when I then scan from the small main window it reverts to 3.99 x 11.
I have scanned the document a hundred times at least, each time trying different buttons, but nothing has succeeded in getting the full page.
This was a bizarre problem with my systems bios confusing my usb wireless adapter and hard drive with one another! The solution was to unplug the adapter and reboot. I have been running a dual boot system with xp pro on one hard drive and Ubuntu 9.10 on a second hard drive, both are sata drives. I have been using this system for a few months and have been happy with it. A few days ago I decided to try to put Ubuntu 9.10 on a bootable usb, I followed the directions from help, but when I restarted my computer I could not boot from the usb device or boot from grub2. I read the grub2 documentation and tried all 3 methods of reinstalling grub from the live cd with no success. I then decided to install Lucid beta1 to a small partition on the second hard drive, when I rebooted I had grub 1.98 which recognized all three operating systems. This worked for a couple of days then again I got the error saying that the disk does not exist. I tried reinstalling grub using different methods, I even tried to use the fixmbr command on the xp disk, still no luck, now all I can do is use the live cd.

I tried the alternate unetbootin program and now it won't see the flash drive because the startup program trashed it. I still think the external usb devices is the most frustrating part of ubuntu and needs serious fixing. My new netbook install won't see any of my external drives.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed Qt SDK for Linux/X11 on my Lucid. But when I try to write a simple program, Qt Creator cannot recognize the c++ headers.
Exact message when I used #include <iostream> : "iostream:No such file or directory".
Seems it cannot find the C++ standard library headers. Also gives a similar error when I try to use the std namespace.
How can I resolve this? From where and how can I give the C++ headers to the Qt Creator.
ok. here is my problem. when im using these two program, if i change to another window then come back to this program, the program will change to some sort of "view" only mode.i click on the workspace and i can't type or copy my code or edit anything . However, it will still highlight the code i selected. the program will back to normal after i click the applet on the right hand side of the top panel.

I am new to Ubuntu 9.10.But after reading some tips I was able to install vlc player,handbrake,a free DVD ripper.Now I downloaded a DVD creating tool by nameDEVEDE (devede_3.16.8-0~rastersoft1_all.deb). But it is asking mencoder which I could not install even after installing many uniuversal and multiverse codecs related to mencoder and mplayer.
Therefore I request you to kindly tell me how to install first mpalayer and mencoder also tell me source installing(normally a deb) packages of mencoder and mplayer. Please give me details for offline installation only. Finally tell me how to install DVD creator DEVEDE i.e devede_3.16.8-0~rastersoft1_all.deb.
