I need to create a test setup in my lab that will run power supplies for an indefinite amount of time. It could be anywhere from days to months at a time. This rules out matlab, as its memory leaks won't let it run that long, and LabView is too buggy (at least in my experience. and it has memory leaks as well). So I need a way to program GPIB (since that is the interface these power supplies have). So far, PyVISA seems to be the most likely way to be able to do this.
However, I keep receiving the following error:
Code:
pyvisa.visa_exceptions.VisaIOError: VI_ERROR_LIBRARY_NFOUND: A code library required by VISA could not be located or loaded.
Searching around, this apparently means that I'm missing GPIB drivers, but I'm not.
linux-gpib installed, and the card appears in /dev.
That being said, every now and then the gpib interfaces simply disappear from /dev,and the only way I can get them back is to reinstall linux-gpib. Also, has anybody else succeeded in working with GPIB outside of LabView and Matlab, and if so how? I'm also open to other options, having made no progress on this after over a week. The two real requirements is that I need programming interface to be scpi commands, and I would prefer to code in python or C/C++.

I have downloaded both fedora 11 64bit DVD iso and fedora 12 64 bit live cd,but the install failed on a brand new AMD Athlon II X4. The f11 was polite and said there were errors in the media, but f12 displayed an illegible line of text and stopped. On prior installs there was a obvious checksum value to verify that the download was good So far I have been unable to find one. I'd like to verify that the download is good before I buy more crappy cd's that don't work.

I'm trying to install a custom-compiled version of PHP 5.2.12 on a RHEL 5 server. Since I'd like to do this repeatedly on other servers, I have built custom PHP RPMs that can be deployed to other machines. (I edited the spec file to include all the relevant configure flags when compiling the PHP packages.) The compilation succeeds without error, and all the RPMs are built correctly.
And yet, even though it is there, and ldconfig says it's there, rpm isn't finding it! I'm at a loss to understand why. Just to see what would happen, I tried copying libclntsh.so.10.1 to /usr/lib64. rpm can't find it there either! So what is it about this shared library file that is wrong?

I am trying desperatly to install boxee onto my pc Boxee - Watch Movies, TV Shows and clips from the Internet on your TV.without success.I have downloaded the source code from the site and have ran
./bootstrap
./configure
The ./configure last few lines =
checking for boost/shared_ptr.hpp... yes
checking for main in -lGL... no
configure: error: Could not find a required library. Please see the README for your platform.
I'm not sure what this lGL is referring to. The readme states that I need the below to run the configure, though that doesn't say lGL either?
Build-Depends: debhelper (>= 7.0.50), quilt, python-support, cmake,
autotools-dev, autoconf, automake, unzip, libboost-dev,
libgl1-mesa-dev | libgl-dev, libglu-dev, libglew-dev, libmad0-dev, libjpeg-dev,

Can someone show me a simple method to find out number of days between 2 dates?
Example: How would I find the number of days between 25-12-2003 to 25-12-2010? Could someone write a line of code that takes in the two dates and outputs the number of days? Or is there a program that can do this?
I know of websites that do this but I'd also like an offline method.

I followed the steps from [url] to download and install the kernel source code.
"Following Generic Textbooks
Many of the tutorials, examples, and textbooks about Linux kernel development assume the kernel sources are installed under the /usr/src/linux/ directory. If you make a symbolic link, as shown below, you should be able to use those learning materials with the Fedora packages. Install the appropriate kernel sources, as shown earlier, and then run the following command:
Where is my kernel source located which i can modify. I cant find anything in usr/src/kernels? Why?

My server is not accessible any longer locally (192.168.0.2). If I attach a keyboard and login (I have done one pass of recovery from the Ubuntu live CD which helped) and check the IP address it seems to be set. However looking at the syslog file there is a line which says ext3-fs: info: recovery required on read only files system.
Is there a more extensive ext3 recovery facility I can use bearing in mind I will not (?) be able to install it?
I think I'm running 8.6 but not sure where to look to find it.

I was trying to install VPN client for my Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit. During the installation process the terminal reads:
"Directory containing linux kernel source code [/lib/modules/2.6.31-21-generic/build]"
On that I pressed enter for the default option (in bold). After a few more steps I reached the following error:
Making module
sh: Can't open ./driver_build.sh
Failed to make module "cisco_ipsec.ko".
[/lib/modules/2.6.31-21-generic/build] is the location where the installer expects the kernel source to be (I am guessing). So unless I correct the terminal (by providing the location of the kernel source), I think I will keep on getting the same error message.
So to get the kernel source I visited: [URL]From there I copy pasted the command:
sudo apt-get build-dep --no-install-recommends linux-image-$(uname -r)
apt-get source linux-image-$(uname -r)
Everything went fine, but even now I don't know if at all I have a kernel source and where it exists on my machine.
