General :: Find And Delete A File Using A Code?

Apr 27, 2011

I am trying to find and delete a file using this Code: find . -type f -name ph2964781400100954291.jpg -exec rm -f {} ; It does not work, I think because by default on my distro rm is iterative.

Ubuntu :: Using Sed Or Awk To Find And Delete Lines In A File?

Dec 21, 2010

I have a bunch of text files, all of them have a .txt extension. They are all located in subfolders of the /MyTextFiles folder (but could be anywhere, no idea what depth). If any line in any of the text files has the word "hello" I want to delete that entire line. I know sed and awk are made for this problem but I can't seem to get the syntax correct.

Server :: Find A String In A File And Delete That Line As Well As X Lines After?

Jun 24, 2010

I need to find a string in a file ... then delete the line it is on, as well as the next 6 lines. Or, delete the line the string is on and all subsequent lines until the search finds the character "["

example:

filename = test.txt

contents:
[foo]
test>test
test>test
test>test

[Code]....

so, in this example. I'd like to search the file for string 'foo' and delete all lines from that line until [bar] (not deleting the line with [bar])

General :: Find The OID Code For A Physical Volume?

May 18, 2011

How do I find the OID code for a physical volume.I managed to get it to work with our snmp monitoring software to alert me when disk space was < 10% but the computer which was running the SNMP monitoring died. For the life of me I can't remeber how I got it to work.I have 4 partitions 1 has 88% free /etc/mapper/volgroup002 has 21% free /boot3 nfsd 0 bytes4 sunrpc 0 bytesHere is a copy of the OID I'm using 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.5.1 I change the last number to resemble the drive but i'm testing using 8% and they each return an error drive space low which is what the VB script tells it to do. I know the script works as I use it on Windows Servers no problems.I do an SNMPWALK on the server and it validates the above OID with HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageSize so I know thats valid. But thats where I'm stuck. What value should I see if I were to use this OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.6.1 which is for free disk space.

General :: Error Cannot Find Disk At [hash-code - Looks Like 0ace5f When Booting OpenSUSE 11.2 GNOME-LIVE (64bit)?

Jan 29, 2010

I am in the process of re-DL-ing the ISO as the checksums didn't match.

Mind you, that was with a shell extension in Win-Lose. Who knows.

Anyway:

I have the ISO (that I had previously) on a USB courtesy of UNetBootIn. All appears well until, quite quickly, I receive an error after the loading process which goes something like:

Code:
Error: cannot find disk at [hash-code - looks like 0ace5f etc etc, is about 12 char's in length.]Something very similar (but not same error I think) happened when I tried to do the same with my OpenSolaris or Fedora install. I.e., gets as far as the very beginning of the loader and then: bork.

At least one of them said "will reboot in 120 secs". Saves me the trouble!

General :: Delete The File And Its Actual Associated Data?

May 12, 2011

I'm confused about "hard link" feature. I've been learning from my UNIX Academy DVDs training that hard links to a file can be many and each of them is an effective filename for the associated data. So let assume that we have some very sensitive data in a file and we want it to be deleted and file has 20 links. I "delete" a file, but in fact I deleted only one "name" of it. My understanding from the training that data is still there until we delete the last associated hard link. But how can I find the names of all of them? If we have the names, they can be removed one by one. Or may be there's command that can trace all the "names" and remove them at once?
