I have a standard Fedora 13 system where it is runnign fine, there it uses the uvcvideo kernel module and gives me a picture in resolution 640x480. Then I have a second system, based on Fedora 8, stripped down to a minimum size (it is working as headless system) and with a self-made kernel 2.6.33.5 that has compiled in i2c-core, v4l1, v4l2 and uvcvideo. There the webcam does not work, as soon as I try to access it with "webcam" of xawtv package I get an error

Beside of that v4l-info tells me, that it can handle a resolution of 176x144 only (instead of 640x480). Beside the difference of the resolution the output of v4l-info is identical on both systems.
I'm having trouble installing the latest openSuSE 11.2 32bit using NFS. The issue appears during the text-interface, before switching to the GUI. The first strange thing I noticed after mounting the ISO is the change in User/Group-IDs. Earlier versions don't do this:

When starting the installation process on the client system I get a "No repository found" message. Checking the error console (Alt+F4) shows:

Older Versions (11.0, 11.1) are working OK. This error is suspicious since it remains after deactivating the NFSv4 in /etc/sysconfig/nfs and commenting out the NFSv4 export lines in /etc/exports.

When I first got Ubuntu a few weeks ago, and got the older version of Wine from the Software Center, and it could run pretty much any game I wanted. Albeit really slowly. Well, I upgraded to 1.2 using the instructions on the wine website, and now a couple of my low-power games (like Bootfighter Windom XP) run totally perfectly, but a lot of mainstream games like Mirror's Edge and Mass Effect 2 just crash when I attempt to open them, and all they all have the same message where the main .exe file has "encountered a serious error." From my laptop I use at work, I exported the ".pcf" file I use with Cisco VPN Client.
I downloaded vpnc using Ubuntu 10.10, imported that pcf file (all of the settings were there). Tried to connect, and it gives me the error saying

I am developing/testing a PHP app on my netbook. For some reason apache/php are returning nothing but a "500 internal server error" response when there is a problem with my php script. For example, if there is a semicolon or closing brace missing, it should cause the script to die with a hint about which line caused the script to stop working. Instead it displays nothing but a "500 internal server error" message.

I am seeing a udev error message on booting that I have not seen before with LInux and which I cannot interpret. My Suse 11.4-KDE installation is fairly new. My system is a System 76 PanP4 Pangolin that originally ran Ubuntu.Uname -a returns: Linux linux-zcga 2.6.37.6-0.5-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2011-04-25 21:48:33 +0200 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux. My video is a Geforce 9300M with an nVidia driver.A Google search turns up the fact that similar error messages have been reported with Fedora, Ubuntu, Meego and Gentoo. These frequently have had something to do with sound and in at least one case the advised correction was to reinstall udev. I can see where bugs were filed but with no clear response. Some of these go back several years, the most recent is within the last few months. I did not see a posting that involved Suse.
1.Can someone tell me what these error messages mean?
2.Does this pose a problem?Everything seems to work normally on my system once I am through the boot process.

I have a Raid0 setup (see below for details) connected to the ICH10R raid chip on my Gigabyte EX58-UD4P motherboard. On every second og third boot I get the following error:

My setup is as follows:
Two 500gb discs in Raid0 on the ICH10R. The first partition 100 mb is a Windows 7 system partition (gaming etc.) and then a 300gb partition for the actual Windos install. Then Ubuntu 10.10 with /, /home, /swap and then five data partitions. Grub is on the Windows system partition.
Ubuntu 10.10 x64 installed via USB. No problems during install. Besides that I have 2x300gb dics on the Gigabyte built in raid controller. Installed with a Hackintos setup using Mac software raid.My fstab looks like this:

HP 5610 all in one device scanner settings please. The printer works fine, I have a problem getting the Scanner to work.
I am running Ubuntu Karmic on my Dual Core Desktop PC. When I run Xsane I get the preview window showing OfficeJet 5600 Series. I also get another little error window saying "Error during CMS conversion:Could not open Scanner ICM profile". It seems like Xsane recognises my HP 5610 All in One Printer/Scanner/Fax/Copier device but what is the error all about?
i installed the adobe flash plugin (for linux) following adobe's instructions (download, decompress, and copy the correct ".so" to the plugins directory).
however, the plugin is not detected by either videos or firefox (checked using "aboutlugins"). something must be wrong with adobe's plugin version 10.x!

I just installed a fresh copy of Xubuntu 10.10 on a penstick and everything was working fine at work and at home. Now when I got to the work this morning I connected the stick to my office network and I got this error:

i installed F13 at work in VirtualBox to test Fedora features in order to have a web server under Linux. while playing aroung i run the yum command : yum info kernel and i got the following message:

But when I unplug the eth0 wires and do "w3m www.xxx.com", it responsed nothing, even no "Network is unreachable" or "unkown host www.xxx.com".
I'm 100% believed that this 3G module is alive, because I used minicom to send AT commands to it, and demonstrated it was alive.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOk so I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 Server Edition. On the very first boot, everything seems to run perfectly. I can SSH into it from any remote computer with no problems. However, the installation of certain things calls for a system reboot, which 2 days ago never would have been a problem. But now for some reason, the SSH server only wants to work on the very first boot of a clean install. After I reboot it, I get the ssh: connect to host 192.168.0.180 port 22: No route to host error. The absurd part is sshd is running! I've even tried restarting sshd, restarting the server, and using both 64 and 32 bit installs. The only way I can get anything to connect to it is by using ssh localhost. It won't even let me connect using the IP on the local machine!

I use iptables firewall (v1.4.1) installed on FC8. I'm trying to limit the inflow traffic for the port 1723 to certain MAC addresses. To experiment with the mac option, I've written the following iptables rule:

i m trying to fix the nvidia drivers and stuff to let Desktop Effects work. I reboot after some changes, and at first I got a kernal error message, and the Fedora froze. So I restart,, and it freezes before I even get the error message. Pop in the live cd, booted up from it so I can talk to my fedora friend, and the reboot to try again. Works, still hasn't froze, and I could get the actual error info.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI updated my system from FC13 2.6.34.7-66 to 2.6.34.8-68 for both the kernel and the kmod-wl RPM's. After doing so, iwconfig wlan0 key 1234567890 no longer works. I get an error indicating 'invalid argument'. If I reboot using the previous kernel/wl.ko module, it works The size of the wl.ko module increased in size by almost 30%. Did I somehow get the wrong RPM?
