I'd like to make a video of an ogg file going through an oscilloscope as it's playing. audacity (with enough zoom so that the wave can be seen as a wave and not a blur) could make it but it's too heavy and the screen capture software doesn't get the screen refreshes.... so I'd like to know if there's something that could provide more accuracy.

RAID array become ports 3 through 6.
All ports are configured as SATA (PATA emulation)My boot drive is located on SATA-2 (the inside connector), a four disk "MD" raid array is located on SATA 3-6, and I have an external HD enclosure that I plug into the e-SATA connection.
With all six drives plugged in, they get ordered like this:
/dev/sda - External drive
/dev/sdb - Internal operating system drive (bootable)

Can anyone recommend a PC oscilloscope that's compatible with Ubuntu? I need this for checking the waveform from an audio output.

The problem is the top gnome panel. See the photo below: As you can see, the network icon is not shown properly while the Me menu is being shown twice. I can't even restart or log out or shut down at this situation without pressing the keystroke to turn the power off.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running a multi-boot system of Ubuntu 11.04, Windows 7 and Windows XP. Win 7 and XP are on SDA, file storage on SDB and Ubuntu on SDC. When I boot into Ubuntu it does not see SDA or SDB.
Running fdisk -l produces the following information:
sudo fdisk -l

I have seen in another forum that this is likely to be caused by Windows partitions being misaligned. Is there an easy way to adjust the partitions to allow Ubuntu to see the Windows folders and files?

Ubuntu 10.4 64 bit OS - 8GB RAM is shown as 7.8GB - why? where is the rest gone? or is it just my math?
I am running PunBB on my home server (Lubuntu). It works fine while browsing the site from my desktop computer via internal IP. When I access the domain name from outside my router it does not display the site correctly, instead of a nice php site, it pulls up a site that looks like no php was used.If I try and access a index.html page (instead of the index.php) on my server from the outside it works real quick with no problems.

1- tar xvzf OOo_3.0.0_LinuxIntel_install_xxxxxx.tar.gz
2- su to root
3- cd into the RPMS( where all RPMS package were present)
4- BY RPMS auto installer. I install all package.
There are two folder in my "/opt" folder. openoffice.org and openoffice.org3. But office is not shown in application start menu, but when we check it by add/remove software option this is show that it install.
iam working on F14 KDE 64-bit ....i installed Matlab today it was installed successfully with no errors at all but when i try running it from /usr/local/MATLAB/R2010b/bin/glnxa64/ ..... the Matlab logo shows up then disappear again .and with no errors.. i opened the system monitor to see that Matlab is running ..... i searched the web and got that Matlab makes problems with selinux so i turned it off ...and still the same

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have had Ubuntu on my own laptop for a few weeks, and I really like it. I bought my daughter a new mini laptop (Samsung N130) a few days ago, which came with XP. It has no CD/DVD drive, so I downloaded Ubuntu onto a 2GB memory stick, and installed it from there. The installation went fine, but I can't go online. When I click on the network manager icon there is no wireless network shown. It only shows wired network and VPN connections. If I right-click, it doesn't show 'enable wireless', just 'enable networking'. I think I have switched on the wireless network card, which seems to be F9 on her laptop, with an antenna icon. There is an LED showing with that same icon.

On a new box with Debian Lenny, I have 2x2 gig of ddr2 but the karamba applet show only 3291mb. And dmesg show this:

I copied some xscreensavers into the screensavers folder which is in usr/applications/screensavers. Now when I go to my screensaver application, they don't show up at all. What should I do? I am running Ubuntu 10.10.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn my new 32-bit dell-vostro-1014 with debian-lenny OS I have installed via apt-get both smplayer and vlc-mediaplayer and have ripped the movie dvds by k3b and kept them as .avi files. While smplayer can play them, vlc-mediaplayer does not show the picture, only the voices are played. If I play the dvd from the optical tray then vlc poses no problem. Is it an inherent defect of the vlc package? If not what's the remedy?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have 5 or 6 computers on my home network. Most of them are wired connections, a few wireless. All the Linux machines run Samba and they are all configured identically. Workgroup name is the same on all, user=share on all and they all have a share or 2. I can ping any one from any other but they don't all show up when I run smbtree, usually from my wireless laptop. Maybe I should run it on all the Linux boxes and see what the result is, but I've never done that. My question is, why do they not all show up? One of them never shows in the list. The Windows boxes always do.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to upgrade my current fedora 8 box to fedora 10. I downloaded the cd images and burned from the fedora website. After I booted my laptop using the fedora installation cd, the anaconda program started and went immediately to the keyboard selection, language selection, etc. but no upgrade option screen was shown at all until the point that I have to choose my partitions where it was obvious that a fresh installation was being done.
Using crtl+f2 I checked the /tmp/anaconda.log file, whoch has the warning: "step install type does not exist". At this point I do not know exactly what is going on.
There is a thread in this forum that points to this website [URL] as a place for good directions on getting the new Java and the new Firefox to cooperate with one another. I followed it and was unable to get that to happen. To test it I used the official U.S. clock website. Don't quite know what to ask, except what did I do wrong? I following the directions to the letter, but in the "aboutlugins" part, Java doesn't show up.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor two of my partitions on sda (they are NTFS parts) I have configured them via the NTFS Configuration Tool to mount at boot. This is OK - I can see them in Places, Computer; they are listed together with the mounted icon to the right. However, there is also two other partitions listed - that are not shown as mounted - with the same label name. (I can also see these duplicate parts listed if I click on Places ad look down at the various devices attached under Computer). If I right click on these unmounted parts I see there is a greyed out option to Remove. How do I remove these duplicate partitions?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have googled and looked around on the forums but I couldn't find anything that directly answers my question. I have a dual boot set up with Vista and Ubuntu 9.10. My hard drive is partitioned into dev/sda1 (where Vista resides) and dev/sda2 (where Ubuntu resides) and /dev/sda4 which I use as a shared hard drive for the two operating systems.
When I first installed Ubuntu on dev/sda2 I used gparted to make /dev/sda2 a 10 GB partition becuase I wanted to try putting ubuntu on a very small partition. Since then I used gparted to expand /dev/sda2 to 32GB. But when I use System Monitor (System--->Adminstrative----->System Monitor) it shows only that the /dev/sda2 space is 10GB (and says that there are only 2.9 GB) remaining unused. Yet when I use gparted to look at the partitions, it says that /dev/sda22 is 32 GB with 3.9 GB remaining unused.
I am wondering if anyone knows why they show two different sizes and what I can do to fix the size being shown. When I tried to make a tar gz back up of my system iit returned a message warning me that my /dev/sda2 partition was almost full because it put the 1.5 GB tar gz file in my home drive (which I suppose the system monitor only sees as a 10 GB space that already has 7 GB in it).
