Software :: Installing Libstdc++-3.4.6-11.i386.rpm On RHEL4 Machine?
Sep 24, 2010
I have downloaded an rpm for libstdc++, libstdc++-3.4.6-11.i386.rpm, from centOS, http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/os/i386/CentOS/RPMS/. On trying to install it, it says unlocatable package libstdc++, required by libstdc++-devel.
How is it that the very package i'm trying to install is dependent on itself. On trying to locate the package the result is as below.
I am trying to install real vnc for linux in open suse 11 and get next error:
libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 needed by vnc-4.1.3-1.i386
I have tried to install the compat packages for libstdc that appears in "install software" but it does not work. tell me the exact package I need to run this application ?
I got heekscad_0.10.1-svn974_i386.deb to install on a Kubuntu 9.10 kernel 2.6.31-16-generic. 64 bits version not found. [URL] Of course I could compile ... If I knew where to find the source and the makefile...
I've just install RALUS (linux backup agent) from BE 2010 R2 by manually uploading it to the server and then extracting it followed by executing the install script.
After the install i deleted the extracted directory, when i go to my Media Server i cannot browse for this server eventhough i already put the IP address of this server.
Here's my diagnostic regarding this error:
Code:
file: No such file or directory
Where can i download that file so that i can SCP to the proper directory in my Fedora COre 5 x86 Linux server ?
How can I install compat-libstdc++ in Debian 4.0? I have extracted the libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 file from compat-libstdc++-296-2.96-143.i686.rpm but while the libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 is being used, it is giving an error as below:
Code: /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.4' not found (required by /usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3)
I have installed RHEL4 on my desktop machine . Done all the setting in /etc/pam.d and finally my rsh and rlogin works from my machine(rsh the same machine)

I'm a newbie in this forum and a newbie with administering Linux. I need to install gcc 3.4.6-10 and I've downloaded and installed the rpm, but it seems that it did not do anything.
i am facing problem in installing oracle 10g R2 on rhel4 x86. following error is throwing while installation:-java.io.FileNotFoundException: /tmp/OraInstall2010-02-19_10-21-06AM/oui/instImages/images.properties (No such file or directory)
When I installed CentOS on a 64 bit machine, I selected the 64 bit option. However, for some reason it installed many i386 packages - these were exact duplicates of installed x86_64 packages.Is this typical? How do I prevent this on future installs? If I left them installed, could this have caused a problem in the future? Due to my fastidious nature, I used yum extender to uncheck every duplicate i386 package and uninstalled them. This took some time. I am still not proficient with yum directly so I am wondering if there is a command to uninstall all i386 packages quickly.
Here is a copy of what shows on by screen (I used sudo -s because I thought it might be an environment issue). Not sure what to do here Bash seems to be installed and if I run bash I get no errors. I did just upgrade to 11.04.
Code: root@jackie-Latitude-E6410:~/Downloads/SametimeStandardClient/sametimeclient.standalone/Linux# dpkg --force-architecture -i sametime-connect-8.5.1.i386.deb dpkg: warning: overriding problem because --force enabled: package architecture (i386) does not match system (amd64) dpkg: regarding sametime-connect-8.5.1.i386.deb containing sametime-connect:i386, pre-dependency problem: sametime-connect:i386 pre-depends on bash
I have several (say, 50) machines running ubuntu.I want them to be centrally controlled.That is, each machine should get permit from central machine before installing any software etc.I googled quite a lot but could not find the solution...
I was installing compiz on my machine and towards the end of installation i got an error saying: dpkg:error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/udev-151-3-i386.deb
The program returned valude 1 or something towards that direction. I rebooted my X server however i got an error saying X server encountered a problem. I did apt-get install compiz and found out that many dependencies were missing so i tried apt-get -f install but i got the same error message at the end of the day. Im currently booted on windows XP.
I was following a simple tutorial on how to program and compile a hello world program using assembly when I got this error;Quote:ld: i386 architecture of input file `hello.o' is incompatible with i386:x86-64 output.The tutorial told me to make two files;Quote:hello.asmsection .data;section declaration
msg db "Hello, world!",0xa;our dear string len equ $ - msg ;length of our dear string section .text;section declaration
I am working on a project which targets both 32 and 64 bit architectures at the moment. My system is amd64. I added i386 architecture using this guide. However, my problem is
Code: Select allapt-get install package-name:i386
prompts the removal of currently installed packages (amd64 arch.) which is the problem.
Code: Select allReading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following extra packages will be installed: libportaudio0:i386
[Code] ...
Some of the packages I am talking about are
-libegl1-mesa-dev:i386 -libportaudio-dev:i386
Now, as of now, I want to carry out the compilation using 32 bit libraries, however, I really don't want to install 64bit version of all prerequisites each time I switch the compilation from 32 bit to 64. Is there any way to have both architectures at the same time?
I have an Acer laptop, on which a I have Ubuntu installed with no disk partitioning. I may need to install Windows 7 on this machine but have no desire to stop using Ubuntu for normal use. Is it possible to create a partition to install Windows on, without changing my Ubuntu set up? Also, whilst I'm at it, I'd like to create a third partition for general data storage.
I'm using fedora 12 and I would like to install komodo editor, whose documentation specify there is a prerequisite : libstdc++6.but accordingly to the siteit seems that libstdc++ is part of the gcc project.and g++ is in the version 4.4.3, not in the version 6
I can't run a program on Centos 5.5 64 bit, ldd said "libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 => not found". Is it missing standard c++ lib, and where I can download the package
1 - Is there a source of newer GNU gcc and g++ RPMs compatible with Centos 5.6? Fedora Core?
2 - Perhaps a more important questions is, for developing software for CentOs 5.x customers, should I stick with the gcc it came with? Or at least build the release with same gcc as target? I encountered the following error when trying to install latest Qt SDK:
./Qt_SDK_Lin64_offline_v1_1_en.run: /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.9' not found (required by ./Qt_SDK_Lin64_offline_v1_1_en.run)
To install the latest Qt SDK I need to upgrade libstdc++ package to 4.2 and probably GCC as well. I tried building gcc from source but quickly ran into dependency hell with GMP, MPFR, etc. The main reason I wanted to update to the latest version of Qt is Qt Creator is the best Linux IDE I have yet found ( coming from Visual Studio 2008 ).
I'm trying to install on a machine that has a CD drive but no DVD (and is currently running 10.3). Following the procedure here I created a filesystem on the server and copied the DVD ISO to that. I boot with the network install CD and in the boot options I put in install=hd:/dev/sda7/openSUSE-11.2-i586.iso But then I get a red error diag saying Could not find the openSUSE respository Activating manual setup program
I go into the manual setup program, select hard disk, sda7, the iso file appears in the "Enter the source directory." dialog so I click OK. It does the "Loading the installation system" (or something, it's quick) and then errors with "No repository found". I have also tried sharing the iso file from a windows server and using network SMB but that didn't work. Tried mounting the install DVD (that I have used successfully before) on the windows machine, sharing it, and point the manual SMB install at that. Everything gives me "No repository found." I could use the Network CD to do an Internet install, but that seems unnecessarily slow and wasteful of bandwidth when I've already downloaded the DVD iso.
Can I do a fresh install of CentOS Linux on a remote machine? I have a machine with Windows NT in a remote location. Now I want to use that system as my deployment machine. To proceed with my plan I need to install a Linux OS (have chosen CentOS). The guy there with the machine is not very knowledgeable of the installation process of any OS. So I thought I could install CentOS remotely.how I can achieve this?
Is it sensible to install a netbook edition on an ordinary machine? Like if i want to quickly browse the web and answer emails with fast boot time and without having a full-blown desktop?
I had a good copy of ubuntu on a disk but i lost it in the move, lately i decided that i wanted 2 OS's on 1 machine windows vista/Ubuntu x32. I've already got VMware workstation 7, now the great feat i'm trying to accomplish is getting this .iso of Ubuntu into my VM machine, I've got Daemon tools lite and magic-iso and magic disk. But i'm not too sure which 1 to use.

Having trouble getting a certain piece of software to run under wine 1.2.2 and under Crossover, so thought I'd try wine 1.3.2. Wasn't sure if I could install it without messing with my 1.2.2 install. Would it work? using slackware64 13.37 multilib
