View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Ubuntu version 10.10 and I'm trying to install the HP DeskJet 1000 J110a printer. I have HPLIP version 3.11 (the latest version I believe). The printer shows up but when I try to print the error message reads: Printer requires the 'foomatic-rip-hplip' program but is not currently installed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Lucid. I opened Synaptic and tried to install the 'foomatic-gui' package, but it shows an error message of "unresolvable dependencies". The error is "foomatic-gui: Depends: python-gtkhtml2 but it is not installable". I serached in Synaptic for this 'python-gtkhtml2' package, but can not find it. Then I searched the [URL] site and found that the 'python-gtkhtml2' is available for intrepid, jaunty and karmic but not for lucid. How can i get this package installed?

how do I get the printer installed in hplip? I can print but cannot scan. xsane will not recognize printer. Jaunty 64bit 2GB Ram 350GB HD
I have now two computers running Fedora 14 64 bit. The previous installation was a couple years ago and i have had no problem getting HPLIP installed - at least not a lot of trouble. This time, however, the install disk has installed the latest version but without a number of its dependencies. The .run shell only tells me that it can't install this or that dependency, in this case sane-backends-devel. When I use the command su -c "yum -d 10 -e 1 install sane-backends-devel" the dependencies are located and the debugger starts. The install proceeds until the more recent libtif 64 bit file is found already on my computer but the desired but older 32 bit version has been set up for install. This stops the business with an error. I have struggled with this until my backend is no longer sane.
I am not sure where to go from here. It looks to me as though the sane-backends-devel dependencies will always prevent an install. Is there a command I could insert to prevent this from happening - such as eliminating the d 10 switch or otherwise? Is there a way to skip one error and go on, for instance? I have not always used the shell to install, and there are several other methods out there, but without this dependency I will not be able to scan, which is what I have to do.
I am planning on purchasing a new printer, HP 8500 all in one. I downloaded hplip.net. it is listed in the downloads. Now how do I install hplip? I want to ready for the new printer. Chef Robert Here in the Land Of Enchantment.

Installing support for Phototsmart 7150 on Ubuntu 10.10 server (no desktop).Installed 3.10.6 and 3.11.3a.
Installation hangs at the point where the printer is supposed to be detected (after the prompt to restart). At that point I break out with Ctrl-C.I then run hp-setup and select usb. That process complains about missing dbus file but prompts for the printing of a test page. The job begins but only a few lines are printed before the page is ejected, some more lines print, the page is ejected and so on.Have tried to uninstall with make uninstall but since there's no desktop I suppose the hp files are in the home folder? Please inform of proper uninstall for my case.I have also installed hplip via the webmin config. That install proceeds smoothly with no errors but print result is same.
How to install software file hplip.run ?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn short, attached a terminal screenshot of me trying to install hplip. Why hplip-3.9.10.run doesn't recognize the fact that gcc has already been installed? In detail: I have HP PSC 1210 connected to a Windoze XP machine. I want to enable network printing, but the only printer showing up standard in the F12 drivers is the HP PSC 1200. When I use that one, I reach the printer, and the Windoze printer queue, but no matter how long I wait, nothing ever comes out of the printer. It'll start moving like "I'm about to print!" but then does nothing. So through the hp-opensource website I determined which driver I want, and get a long way into installing the file. It hangs up on the attached screenshot.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI have ubuntu jaunty 9.04 installed in my system(thats my only OS.. no dual boot). When I tried to install hplip to enable hp printer driver, I understood that 9.04 is obsolete and no more support for it. I want to upgrade now. Update manager shows '10.04' for uogradation but it seems I cannot jump from 9.04 to 10.04 without getting into 9.10.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBasically I have been completely unable to install any distro bar those 2 (OpenSuSE 11.2 and Mandriva can't remember what version).
I tried Ubuntu lucid lynx and Maverick Meerkat, Mint 8 (helena) and 9 (isadora), fedora 12 and 13 and even....windows (I know that's not linux but meh).
When attempting to install Ubuntu and Mint I get the fabled errno 5 error. I have tried using 4 different optical drives, I burnt it at slowest possible speed I even used a usb to boot it and still somehow copped the errno 5 error (which is somewhat humorous when it tells me to make sure my cd/dvd drive is ok and i'm using a usb stick) I tried it on 2 different HDD's (both in this computer) 1 a 40gb the other a 1TB. I tried using sony DVD's, Verbatim DVD's and TDK DVD's I even tried using Verbatim Cd's.
When I attempt to install Fedora I get a (sorry as I can not remember the exact error message) cannot copy image from live cd error (or something along those lines) at around 54%.
With windows (again I know it's not linux but it might give some insight into what is actually going on) I get a blue screen of death before first boot EVERY SINGLE TIME and then it just continues to happen, this was on xp and 7.
My only idea I have as to what is happening is that my computer hates me and just likes driving me up the wall for kicks.
Lastly and ever so slightly off topic, if I manage to get another distro to install how do I stop it from killing my bootloader and how do I make that OS appear in my current bootloader.
Specs are as follows:
MOBO: Asus M4A87TD/USB3 CPU: AMD Athlon II x2 245 GPU: Radeon HD5770 RAM: Corsair VS2GB1333D3 2GB (1333MHz) DDR3 RAM, Non ECC Unbuffered, 9-9-9-24, 1.5V PSU: 600 watt shark HDD: West Gate 1TB 7200RPM SATA2 OS: OpenSuSE 11.2 32BIT
I used Ubuntu as my os for about 6 month. In that i could install gloobus coverflow, gloobus previve and gloobus flow.
Few days back i install Mandriva 2010 in to my laptop.I try to find out how to install gloobu in Mandriva. But i couldn't.It's not available in Rpmdrake.
I am a newbie and don't now how to do it.If some one now how to do it..
I have a tar.gz file that I am trying to install - In trying to convert it to a rpm file I extracted it to its own directory and ended up with a heap of .svg files - how do I install from here?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn some spooky way I managed to install Mandriva and have windows in all its flavours in working order, however Suse is still a challenge too far. I have one partition to spare, divided it up into one main and one for swap and tried to get the installer to understand that one should be / and the other swap and that they had to be formatted to ext4. I think I succeeded in doing that. However, I then want to get a working bootloader with working entries for Windows AND Mandriva. The installer wants to know all kinds of stuff and I have no clue what to tell it in order to have a working bootloader or GRUB or whatever.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI see that the latest hplip is by default (3.10.2 in synaptic)great I thought but unlike the 3.10.2 version which was previously downloaded from the web(for 9.04) this default version STILL cannot produce photos without borders? View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to upgrade my current hp printer driver 3.10.9 to the latest version 3.11.1 According to 'Google' the command to remove the driver is sudo apt-get remove hplip but when I type this in terminal I get:liz@lizubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get remove hplipReading package lists... DoneBuilding dependency treeReading state information... DonePackage hplip is not installed, so not removed0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 12 not upgraded.
I installed 3.10.9 as per the Launchpad website - it looks like Ubuntu is not 'seeing' hplip although it is installed and working. I guess I need a more subtle command to get rid of all the hp driver files. Or could I just install 3.11.1 over the top? (Would have thought best to remove 3.10.9 first).
I installed a LPT1 printer a hp office jet T65 to add this printer was requested hplip I install the software that should de printer driver, when I print a file the file remain only in processing it wont go forwarder then that.I hope I was explicitly enough.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAnyone knows how to do borderless printing with HPLIP? I have an HP Photosmart C5550. On XP it is able to print borderless (without the white edges on 4 sides) on letter size (both plain and photo paper),but in F13 I always have a white border (~5mm or 0.2 inch) on the 4 sides of plain or photo paper.
Some old postings around 2008 said I should
- run hp-toolbox
- select "Print Settings" tab
- choose "fullbleed" (eg. 1200dpi fullbleed) in "print quality".
When I tried to follow this posting, I see no "fullbleed" selection in F13. Did I miss anything?
