Software :: Glibc 2.9 - Make Check - Fails On Rt/tst-cputimer With Timer Sig -12 - Invoked To Soon
Feb 13, 2009
I wish to install a new libc.so and have compiled the latest glibc (2.9.90) with the latest gcc (4.3.3) and the latest binutils (2.19, compiled with gcc 4.3.3). Compilation succeeded without errors, although not before I did some non- obvious things (e.g., I had to put '-march=i686' into my CFLAGS to avoid getting undefined symbol errors from the linker). 'Make check' also produced errors, a number of which I averted by doing non-obvious things (e.g., I had to copy iconvdata/gconv-modules and libio/tst-*.input from the source
directory to the build directory, and I had to export into the environment TIMEOUTFACTOR=2; the glibc documentation gave me no clue that I had to do any of those things). Now I am running into an error with rt/tst-cputimer that I do not know how to avert. I have run 'make check' 3 times; here are the 3 results. From rt/tst-cputimer1.out:
And from rt/tst-cputimer2.out:
Before running the 3rd 'make check', I increased TIMEOUTFACTOR
(to 3). It made no difference. From rt/tst-cputimer3.out:
I don't want to install the new libc.so until I can get all the tests to succeed, or, failing that, until I understand the significance of the error, and can intelligently dismiss it.
I somehow landed into this situation (don't really remember how), but no package installation/removal seems to be possible for me. Neither apt-get -f install or autoremove seems to work.
When I do: sudo apt-get -f install I see the following: - uname -a: Linux konnichiwa 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Wed Apr 1 20:53:41 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux (Jaunty 9.04, Ubuntu) - Configuring libc6 screen with <yes>, <no> appears. - Click on <yes>. - It fails with this error:

I've been working to get gcc up and running on a new install of Fedora 13. glibc-devel had dependencies upon installation where it required glibc and glibc-common, both 2.12.1-3. No problem, found both at rpm dot pbone dot net. However, when I try to install the following circular dependency results... it doesn't matter the order of install.
Code:
[root AT localhost gcc_install]# rpm -ivh glibc-common-2.12.1-3.x86_64 .rpm error: Failed dependencies: glibc = 2.12.1-3 is needed by glibc-common-2.12.1-3.x86_64
I notice that these two packages contain the same files and uninstalling glibc-i18n doesn't uninstall the internationalization files, because they are also in the glibc package. Is this a mistake or is this normal or is there a reason for it ? I just made my own glibc package to fix this, but was wondering why this is the way it is...
I have installed Zimbra 6.0.1 and updated to Zimbra 7.1.0, the problem is that it needs the glibc-2.10 to start one of its services. I tried everything but i'dont get to update the glibc.
OS : Oracle Enter Prise Linux 6 (equivalent to RedHat)
I am in process to install oracle 10g on said OS.My process fails and after digging up , I came to know that some of the oracle libraries are compiled on 32-bit architecture and it require glibc-32 bit . also it require for gcc-32 bit.
Now i have downloaded all the required rpm for gcc-32bit . when I try to install glibc and its dependencies , it gives me error that newer version already exist.
How can I install , Gcc-32bit(libgc, libstd-i386 etc) in parallel or standalone?
I made an update of my Centos 5.5 yesterday. In doing so glibc has been updated to glibc.i686. Just now some of my FPGA tools crash. Unfortunately there isn't a downgrade for glibc.i686. How can I replace glibc.i686 by glibc.i386?A simple yum install glibc.i386 conflicts with the files from package glibc-2.5-65.i686

I am trying to upgrade RH9 to F10. I have downloaded dvd iso image i386. The SHA1 integrity check passes. The installer fails media check due to "errors". I did an independent verification of the DVD and zero errors found. Download was from Fedora's own torrent, so files should be verified anyway. If I bypass the media check I get the message : Running anaconda 11.4.1.62 the Fedora system installer - please wait.....
I am in very much need to resolve the issue of Upgrade redhat5 from glibc 2.5 to glibc 2.7. The problem is when I run a binary compiled on our build setup (glibc 2.11) on Suse 11 (glibc 2.9) it works fine...
But the same binary do not work on redhat enterprise version 5 telling error as need glibc2.7 or sometimes segmentation fault for the same binary execution.
I tried upgrading the redhat glibc 2.5 to glibc 2.7, but not successful.
I was able to burn a DVD-RW with K3B (after changing "sudo chmod 4755 /usr/bin/wodim") but when I try to burn to a CD-R it fails after the opc check. I tried changing the write-speed to 8X (since that's the max for this CD-R) but it still fails.
Recently, every time I try to compile an app from its source code, after issuing the ./configure command I get this message:configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity checkSee `config.log' for more details.I check /lib/cpp but there is not directory named /cpp under /libthis problem occurs on all source packages.
Yesterday, I think I did something stupid: I removed kernel-headers, gcc, glibc-devel and glibc-headers. My box is a CentOS 5.4 webserver (it has loads of packages installed, but that was done through Virtualmin config, so it's quite coherent all in all). The thing is that now I need to reinstall at least the headers and glibc, but hey! this is what I get :
is I've restored a tar.bz2 backup I've made, all fine until it comes to configure/make.the backup was made on my laptop, the transferred to another computer, I used tarxvpf filename and sure backup was madetar -zcvpf filename / (--exclude=dev etc)dist is lfs,he laptopstill works fine, file date, size, mods all the same so quite pu as to way I get"/lib/gcc failed sanity check"when running .configurep.s. laptop and computer both based

The server comes up after rebooting and after setting the hostname it starts setting up logical volume management. It says that 2 logical volume(s) in volume group "VolGroupOO" now active But then it starts to check the file system and errors with fsck.ext3: Device or resource busy while trying to open /dev/sdb1 [failed]

After I log in with the root I get the message mesg: error tty device is not owned by group 'tty' Can the forum tell me how to troubleshoot this issue so I can boot back up again? I have 2 harddrives in this server and only 1 drive was detected when I first installed CentOS. The error first appeared when I mounted the 2nd drive at the mount point /UserGeneratedData. drive was formatted with ext3 before mounting and did not have any data on it I don't want any software RAID if thats what seems to be going on with "VolGroup00"
The mail server keeps getting locked up with tens of thousands of spam emails. So, i followed some instructions similar to this : [URL]I can clear the queue spams, easy, but after an hour or so the server is dead again.. not receiving emails and not sending out emails.

Suse 11.3 KDE 32bit Following instructions in software.opensuse.org: Search Results I installed LibreOffice using the 1-click Install method. It will not start and produces no error when invoked from the console. Now here's the strangest part. If I left click on an .ods file produced by LibreOffice on another computer (on which it worked) KDE tries to extract it using ark even though file properties identifies it as an "ODS spreadsheet".
I have a problem with my 10.10 32bit installation. The shut down window repeated appears within a few seconds of use, and this is not user-invoked. The shut down screen just pops up within a few seconds after logging in. It even occurs at the login screen. Once it appears, it'll repeatedly close & reopen. I tried using 10.04 bit (which I normally use on my other computers), and have the same results. This is a new computer that I just bought Intel Atom 330 (1.6GHz, dual-core), full specs in the link [URL] with a 4GB stick of RAM

I've already ran a memory test, and it's totally ok.Here's a video clip of what I am experiencing on my screen.
Possible Duplicate: Leave bash script running on remote terminal while not logged in? I run a program, say ./a.out 10 from the shell prompt. Assume that there's a while(1) inside the program being run. Now if I try to close the shell, it warns me that it'll kill my running program too! So, how to kill the shell and still let my program continue running in the background?
I tried exec ./a.out 10 but the shell is still there. Another alternative is to simply double click my executable but then how will I pass command line parameters?
