Software :: Get Rid Of Multiple Bad Image Errors?

Oct 22, 2010

Whenever I open up any program or just start my computer, multiple bad image errors pop up and I am forced to close all of them by pushing "ok." Everything is fully functional that I know of, but I would like to fix them. I have tried checking the system but it doesn't work. I have AVG Antivirus and Registry Defense installed. It has supposedly fixed things but the error messages still pop up.Would a malware remover work?
If so what would be a good one?

Debian Installation :: Errors While Installing 3.2.66-grsec Linux-image

Feb 22, 2015

Debian Wheezy upgraded to Jessie. I can't install my grsec kernel. I did everything exactly like they say on website: [URL] ....

patching: grsecurity-3.0-3.2.66-201502180830.patch and linux-3.2.66 -o.k
then ''make menuconfig'': Configuration Method - Automatic (for virtualbox hosting) -o.k
compiling the kernel: 'fakeroot make deb-pkg' -o.k
and last step, installing new kernel : ''dpkg -i *.deb'' -not o.k

Below is the output from executing command : dpkg -i *.deb which supposed to install 3.2.66-grsec linux-image:

root@debian:/home/userone/Downloads/grsecurity.net/1# ls
grsecurity-3.0-3.2.66-201502180830.patch
linux-3.2.66
linux-firmware-image_3.2.66-grsec-1_amd64.deb
linux-headers-3.2.66-grsec_3.2.66-grsec-1_amd64.deb

[Code] ....

After restarting, old kernel is booting, however from booting menu under advanced GNU/Linux options i can choice 3.2.66-grsec linux-image to boot, unfortunately it 'panics' (kernel panic - not syncing: grsec: halting the system due to suspicious kernel crash caused by root) and only way to turn off the computer is to hold down power button.

General :: Using Makefile - 'Multiple Definition' Compile Errors

Mar 1, 2011

As part of an assignment, our class was given a small set of c++ classes which are compiled using a makefile. As part of the assignment, I have created a namespace and saved in it a .cpp file. The functions, constants and typedefs from the namespace are now used in one of the original files, and so I added an <#include MyFile.cpp> to the file I modified, in addition to a using MyNamespace;

When I try to use the original makefile, the compiler gives a lot of errors about multiple definitions of every function in the namespace. What do I need to do to resolve this? Do I need to change the makefile or one of the files themselves? I am new to Linux programming and makesfiles.

Debian Installation :: Multiple SystemD Errors After Upgrade From Wheezy

Mar 3, 2016

Recently I upgraded my machine from wheezy to jessie.

Everything went smooth until the point that I restarted the node.

During startup I'm getting the following message which is flooding the screen:

Code: Select allsystemd-journald[296]: Failed to forward syslog message: Connection refused

After waiting a long time (the message above still continues to flood the screen), I'm being prompted with the following:

Code: Select allGive root password for maintenance (or type Control-D to continue):

If I press Ctrl+D the boot process continues and finally boots normally.

What I can do to avoid pressing Ctrl+D during the boot process?

I'm assuming that it must be a startup service which is failing but I'm unable to trace which exactly is that.

I'm attaching the full log [URL] ....

Fedora :: Printing Large Image Over Multiple Pages In GIMP

Dec 8, 2009

Searching around I find that there is a "scale" field in the print dialog and the lp command that cups supports and according to the documentation if I set scale to "200%" it should do what I want. However, when I set scale to 200% I get only one page with the upper left 1/4 of the page and then nothing. How do I get it to print the remaining 3 pages?

General :: Windows - Resize An Image To Multiple Resolutions Simultaneously?

Aug 22, 2011

I am looking for software (Windows or Linux) that can do the following: Resize one image to several provided sizes. Detects the type of the picture (wide, normal) and does the resize based on that. What I mean by that is that it should not break the image by shrinking it more in one direction then in the other so it looks weird. The purpose of this is my Blog. If I want to give my readers a wallpaper, I want to give them several options for the sizes so they can have it in their own preferred screen resolution. The image must however keep its original aspect ratio.

Software :: Multiple Disk Images From Single Read-only Image

Jun 16, 2011

Oooookay, so basically the idea I have is that I would like to boot Windows XP over an AoE connection. This is no issue, however the problem comes when I want to have a single, read-only image as the base image and want to be able to boot multiple computers off this image.Licensing issues aside (let's assume that this complies with all licensing issues, or we can think of it as just a conceptual "how could we do this"), the basic issues are thus:Each boot of Windows will require a writable AoE device...The original disk image must be read-only to avoid changes in 1 boot affecting all boots(As far as I know) The AoE device must be a disk image, or some block device rather than a mounted file system (if this is not so, aufs could be used)So the long and the short of this, from what I can tell is that we need a read only device that we can write to.

At the end of a session, the changes to the device will be discarded, so these can be thought of as simple temporary sessions. This means that there is little concern with having changes to the original read-only image effecting the modifications to the "duplicate" images.

I would like to avoid duplicating the image for each instance, however if no solution can be reached then this could be a possibility (every boot, we can copy the image, give the fresh image to the new boot and remove when done)Optimally, changes to the filesystem will be written to a different filesystem (much like what aufs does, however as stated earlier, afaik aufs only deals with 2 mounted file systems, whereas we need the end result to be an image or block device)Sorry if I havn't explained this particularly well, however I've been trying to think of solutions, caveats and generally how to define the problem as I was writing. If you think that this idea is ridiculous because software x handles the problem better, I'd be very pleased to hear about it, but the basic requirement of temporary, network bootable windows xp sessions still applies.

Ubuntu Security :: Mount The Image Or Extract The Image To Another Drive?

Feb 16, 2011

I was given a forensic Image which I now know is a DD image of the drive (Vista) and am trying to mount the image or extract the image to another drive. I'm not sure of the extention type or if the image is a partition or the entire drive. I think it is the entire drive.

Is it possible to mount a DD image to a device. If I can't do that I just want to extract the files to run some programs against the drive. Can I view the files under Ubuntu or do I have to remove the drive and stick it into a Vista computer.

I purchased a second drive today and was hoping the command line would be something simple.

Or am I on the wrong track, should I be doing this all in a windows environment. The reason I picked ubuntu was because of the reporting tools.

General :: Good Support To Multiple Desktops AND Multiple Monitors

Jun 4, 2010

I'm starting to have A LOT of opened windows in my machine. Sometimes within a project, I have e-mail/task management/personal e-mail/twitter, and a lot of different opened applications/terminals in my Linux workstation.Sometimes it would be interesting to have different workspaces to projects instead of this configuration I have nowadays that are classes of work (bad name, I know, but I think you got the idea).I'm starting to think about using two monitors: one with Corporate Management, Work and Personal. The second monitor is only the development state: each workspace here is about a project being worked on instead of groups of works like before. A workspace may be implementing different classes for example.

My question is: I just want to change to a second monitor using the mouse. I want to still be able to change workspaces in the same monitor using keyboard shortcuts. The keyboard shortcuts wouldn't change monitors, just worskpaces on the same monitor. All the tutorials I read (like this one) only tells how to use multiple monitors but doesn't answer my question about keyboard shortcuts.Does Linux (Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx or Debian 5.0.5 Lenny) support this envisioned setup (Different workspaces in a way that keyboard workspace switching only works in the current monitor) ? If so, how?I haven't tested this setup, that's why I'm asking. In this question the user says it works exactly how I want it to behave, can someone else confirm it?

Debian Configuration :: New Image-2.6.39-1-686-pae Image-686-pae?

May 21, 2011

WTF why is it with every update the devs try to break something. Might as well be using Ubuntu at this point and No I do not want to install Stable. Todays updqate would bring in linux-image-2.6.39-1-686-pae linux-image-686-pae, but my CPU Single core Intel Pentium M (-UP-) cache 1024 KB flags (sse sse2) bmips 1196.07 clocked at 600.00 MHz doesn't use PAE so it told me to remove linux-image-686 and to install linux-image-486. So more shiny crap that doesn't support older hardware, it is getting to be as bad as Microsoft.

Why don't I just go upgrade or buy new hardware with every new shiny crap that wants to upgrade. If it isn't broken do NOT fsck with it.
