Software :: Finding The TV Capture HVR-1950 Drivers?
Feb 10, 2010
HVR on Ubuntu 9.10 the capture card is streaming data in on /dev/video0 however nothing I've tried seems to be able to open the device, so far MythTV, tvtime, totem movie player, and others. The drivers in /lib/firmware appear to be the ones specified for this usb attached device.
lsmod seems to list a bunch of the relevant modules. There's something on the forums about "recompiling the driver" - anyone have any instructions on how to do that? Note, no usb device is shown on /media however if I do cat /dev/video0 > temp.mpeg a file is produced which media player can't display?
Does anyone know an Ubuntu 10.10 compatible video capture card that has composite connections for video and audio (yellow, red and white)? It must be external and do its own processing so it doesn't use the computer's own CPU. I intend to capture a live stream and have the Ubuntu PC serve it to other computers. I may use VLC or MythTV. I have looked on various related sites but finding a compatible USB one which does its own decoding is hard to find.
Trying to install the drivers for my blackmagic intensity pro capture device and I cannot get the driver to install I get an error in the ubuntu software center saying: There seems to be a programming error in aptdaemon, the software that allows you to install/remove software and to perform other package management related tasks. Please report this error at [URL] and retry.

I'm making an attempt to install drivers for my easycap dc60 USB video capture device. Someone was good enough to make a driver project on sourceforge. Problem is I cannot get it compiled.

I have ubuntu installed on my laptop which works fine. It has a pcmcia wifi card. When I tried to run the kubuntu live cd it couldn't find the card. As the drivers will be the same how do I find the drivers to allow me to use kubuntu? I plan to make a live usb which I'll add the drivers to so that it'll work each time I plug in. Alternatively if I can find the drivers then I'll just enable them each time via the cd.
i have just installed Fedora 10 and now my wireless adapter doesn't work and i think it's because i need to install drivers for it.. I have been using Ubuntu for the last few weeks and it worked fine in ubuntu probably because ubuntu comes with drivers for my adapter already installed.. Now, i'm kind of newbie so i don't know where to look and what to do.I did lspci and here is my adapter.. Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)
I'm building up a server with a friend. I'm in charge of the hardware and my friend about software (linux distribution, etc). after searching through many models of motherboards I've found one candidate: Asus P6X58D Premium. Then, I realized that probably, there isn't any driver for that motherboard. So, I've browsed to [URL] then on the download tab and discovered there was: "DOS, Netware, Unixware, Windows 2000 to 7 x64 and others" but no Linux option
So, I've searched in other similar motherboards: for example P6T Deluxe. At the Linux option, the drivers were about audio issues....So, does really need a distribution x64 for server based on Debian, Ubuntu, etc, these drivers to work correctly on Asus P6X58D Premium?
I am running Ubuntu Desktop and need to install a Wavecom WMOD2 USB.tell me in laymans terms how to install it?I ask because I cannot find the drivers ANYWHERE?! My client asked me to have this done by tomorrow, and I did not think I would have this much trouble finding drivers.....
I am having issues installing Centos on a Dell Poweredge 1950. I have tried 5.3 and 5.4, and the text only install. The error I get is when I select what keyboard layout to use. An error window pops up and says "Assertion ((C * heads + H) * sector + S == A) at dos.c:624 in function probe_partition_for_geom() failed " I can click ignore and cancel but it instantly pops back up. I have tried to look up the error but can't find any information on it.
I've installed it and it looks great. my problem is that I cant connect to the net since I could not find the driver for my onboard network adapter. it is a Gigabyte GA 945 GCM S2L board. of coarse I searched their site but it says that Linux driver I have to achieve from 3rd party. the adapter's chipset is a Realtek RTL 8111C but I could not find the driver for it. the only one that I've found - doesn't work. I must point out that when I've searched driver for my Nvidia display adapter- I've found it on Nvidia's site and it works great.
Recently purchased a System76 laptop running Lucid Lynx, new to Linux, wanted to add a mobile broadband card. My cellular provider supports UM185 - but the product is not documented to work on Linux.I brought it home anyway, figuring I could find a driver for it.No luck with any of the searches I have tried.Looking for guidance on where I should look for drivers, search keywords, OR the name of a supported mobile broadband device/cellular provider.
I have a Dell PowerEdge 1950 with Centos 5.4 installed. I am having an issue where there is no network activity on any of the NIC's.(Broadcom and Intel).
I have read that this might be somewhat common but have not found any solutions. I am unable to ping anything internal or external. Has anyone encountered this problem and have a potential fix?
I have a Philips webcam I would like to get to work with a proper driver on Ubuntu 10.04. It will work under a generic driver on programs such as Skype, but as soon as I try to use it for web cam sites such as BlogTV, it will say "Webcam required on this site."I have seen similar posts on this and other websites, pointing towards SPCA, but everything I have tried has not worked. When trying SPCA, I tried to do install on the terminal and all that would happen is terminal would respond with: "0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded."Is there an easier method I am missing here, or is there something am I doing wrong?
I just installed ubuntu 10.10 on my HP G70-460US laptop, the ethernet connection works but my wifi card cant be detected..I dont know if the the wifi state being "off" (there is a button to turn it on and off) has anything to do with ubuntu not being able to pick up on it..but even before i had no problem getting ubuntu to find the proprietary drivers.
[URL] I just updated and then saw this news , whats the solution for me, I either want to go beta or downgrade, If i try to boot to previous kernel, boot hangs in graphic mode, I cant start X and gdm . How to install kmod with beta drivers? Or whats the solution, nvidia ver: 195.36.08
I have been using ubuntu for quite a long time, and for the first time, I am now unable to set nvidia drivers to work. I have just install ubuntu 9.10 amd64 on an AMD 64 athlong X2 with a GEForce 6500 nvidia card.

I've been trying to get online for the better part of a week now with no luck. I can't get my network up to download drivers for my hardware - without the drivers I have no GUI so I'm stuck trying to do this in text mode.
I know i know, some will say "eww Proprietary Drivers" but hey, ubunt is all about having more control of the OS. Is there an easy way to install Proprietary Drivers thats not through the hardware drivers option on system?

I installed Xubuntu the other night (completely wiped machine) and started doing all the updates on it. After a couple of reboots, I changed from the proprietary drivers, to the regular nVidia drivers. After doing this, the startup logo is displayed at a really low resolution. Is there a simple fix to change this and use the nVidia drivers as well?
I've installed Ubuntu Netbook 10.04 on my HP DV2000 laptop and now I want to get my wireless to work by installing the proprietary broadcom drivers (4311, I think). But my internet doesn't work yet obviously, so I need to download the drivers to my thumb drive on my desktop and install them on my non-networked laptop. My issue is that I don't know:a) Where to get the driversb) How to install them from a local drive
I just installed Karmic beta and I'm having issues with getting my wireless driver to work. When I was using 9.04 and when I booted 9.10 from a CD, I could just go to System > Administration > Hardware Drivers and activate a wireless driver and everything would be just peachy. The problem is that, in the install of 9.10 beta, no drivers appear when I load the Hardware Drivers GUI, so I can't get wireless internet.
Is there anything I can do besides wait a few days for the full release of 9.10 and hope that solves the issue?

I'm logging into a remote Ubuntu box from my Mac via NX, and almost everything works great. However, I can't find any way to capture the alt-tab keyboard combination (or, command-tab) for app switching. All the individual keys register with ubuntu, but when pressed together, Mac OS captures it first. Is there any way to fix this?
