General :: Fail Webmin Install - E - Package Webmin Has No Installation Candidate
Apr 6, 2010I have had webmin running previously but i just recently installed Unbuntu server and i am now trying to install webmin. after typing this to install webmin sudo apt-get install webmin it started doing its thing and then it halts.
Giving me the following message: "Package webmin is not available, but is referred to by another package. this may mean that the package is missing, had been obsoleted , or is only available from another source."
The first thing i did after installing webmin was edit the sources.list
Then i tpyed sudo nano sources.list I uncommented everything with "deb" in front of it
I also uncommented
deb cdrom:
I then typed this sudo wget [url]
After getting that i typed this apt-get install perl libnet-ssleay-perl openssl libauthen-pam-perl libpam-runtime libio-pty-perl libmd5-perl
Then i tryed to install it and got that error.
I also tryed install it using this tutorial [url]
When i got to the part when i need to type
sudo apt-get install update this is what happened

Apr 3, 2010I encountered a a dependency issue when trying to install Webmin on Ubuntu Server Edition 10.04 Beta1.
When you try to install webmin, libmd5-perl is not available in any of the lucid repositories:
I resolved the dependency prob by adding the following repository to my /etc/apt/sources.list: deb [url]
Then I did a sudo apt-get update then sudo apt-get install and libmd5-perl installed fine along with webadmin. BTW. I got a GPG error when doing a apt=get update because I did not import the public key for the debian repos I used to get libdm5-perl, which doesn't matter to me as I commented out the repos once I got libmd5-perl installed.

Dec 17, 2010i am tring to setup SAMBA with webmin. the problem im having is that i can not login to the shared areas like homes and users. i can see them when i search my network i double click on them and it asks for user name and password. i have already set up a user using the convert unix user to samba user and have set a password. i have set teh Use encrypted passwords? to yes. when i try and log in it say login unsuccesful login or password my be incorect.
setting up SAMBA with webmin? Samba Configuration: i fould this one but didnt help. in uesing suse 11.3 and windows vista

May 5, 2011I setup a backup cronjob via webmin and it is not working. I'm using OpenSuse 11.4 and Webmin 1.550.I can run the job manually in Webmin and the backup succeeds and I have made sure to include direct paths to the folders I'm backing up. When I put "crontab -l" in the terminal I get this:

Nov 1, 2010I am trying to install an Open GL screen saver "EulerTop-1.2" and I get the following error message when I run configure - "checking for perl /usr/bin/perl checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.2) (library qt-mt) not found. Nov 24, 2010I can compile and run ntpd 4.2.6p2, but after a while the reach indicator falls back from 377 to 0 and then the ntpd is in an unsynced state for a while. So far I haven't seen any indication why we have this.

Dec 26, 2010I just tried to install qtparted ver0.4.5 on my computer to help partitioning my HDs.After doing the "configure/make"-sequence (using unsermake, as required), I received following error during compilation:
"qp_libparted.cpp:1751: error: �ped_free� was not declared in scope",My parted version is 1.9.0-3.7.1 from openSuSE 11.2.My question:
1. Do you know, which other library might contain this "ped_free"-declaration?
2. Any other perted GUI, that might work better (gparted is only available on a live DVD after boot)

The gcc44-fortran is installed on my computer but if I have well understood, there is no g77 compiler in this package... Feb 21, 2010When i'm trying to compile nvidia closed drivers, i got an error. I've tried binaries one on nvidia suse repo, but as i installed kernel 2.6.32-41 they didn't work. My laptop is a lenovo T61, with nvidia quadro nvs 140m, and intel chipset. And i'm trying to instal driver version NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-100.14.11.

I began by following the instructions that I found here: Tomcat HOWTO - openSUSE and proceeded to install the requisite packages through YaST, except I chose to install tomcat6 and java 1.6, presuming that they would work equally well to the older versions indicated in the guide. My stumbling block came when the guide went on to tell me to download and compile an alternative mod_jk to the one included (even though I hadn't come across one, so I didn't have to uninstall one like the guide suggested.) The link provided in the guide was dead so I found an alternative link through google, and set up the directory structure as suggested. The next step tells me that I must run this command:

May 6, 2010I'm experiencing the following problem with latex. A tex file using using the beamer documentclass and the pstricks package will not compile properly. To be more precise, latex-ing results in a dvi file but the pspictures are missing. When using pdflatex I'm repeatedly prompted with a?. Replying with enter all the time gives a pdf file without the pictures again. I'm running 11.2 with KDE and the normal preinstalled texlive. Version 2008-13-15.1-x86_64 from the Update repo that is. Feb 27, 2010I tried installing the RPM from tcpflow website. error: Failed dependencies: libpcap.so.0.6.2 is needed by tcpflow-0.21-1.i386 I installed libpcap1-32bit, but doesn't help. I tried added soft-link to libpcap.so.1.0.0 from libpcap.so.0.6.2 to workaround, doesn't help. hen I DLed the tarball, ./configure gives an error, even after including --with-pcap=/usr/lib64/libpcap.so.1.0.0 checking for --with-pcap option... configure: error: /usr/lib64/libpcap.so.1.0.0 does not exist I CAN'T install the rpm, I CAN't compile from source. I can't find this program on any suse repo. I need to use this prog -- what can I do?
