OpenSUSE :: Compile Mesa To Replace Version In Repo?
Apr 16, 2011
I am compiling mesa and it compiles ok but I think it it compiles to the usr/local/lib but I want to replace the system version as I want applications to use my compiled version instead.
How do I do this?

Is it possible to just roll back the version of Mesa on my install to an earlier version...I think this is the key to getting my game to work.

I have this below from a mesa git 20101002, and from the 7.9_rc2 tarball.
Code:
It isn't the only error. I get one about trying to make before make depend, but if I hit up arrow and return, it's gone. This one is persistent.
The issues on configure were libtalloc and libdrm. I have the libdrm .pc files copied from another box in /usr/lib/pkgconfig. talloc I just made, giving it the samba version number. configure passes with no variables passed to it. I am not passing /usr/include to this at any time. It doesn't show in the Makefile afaict.

Short description of the problem: I need to have freeglut3-dev, libglu1-mesa-dev, libgl1-mesa-dev and libgl1-mesa-swx11 installed at the same time. How to do it?There are no hardware drivers for my GPU (ATI Radeon HD 4290), so I must use the software rasterizer:libgl1-mesa-swx11. Fortunately I have a very fast hex-core CPU so rendering in software doesn't slow down the computer.I make OpenGL games in C, so I need these packages to be able to compile my games:freeglut3-devlibglu1-mesa-devlibgl1-mesa-devBut if they are installed, libgl1-mesa-swx11 must be replaced by libgl1-mesa-glx.libgl1-mesa-glx is the hardware rasterizer and doesn't work, because I don't have the needed hardware drivers.Currently, I have to install/remove/reinstall those 4 packages before compiling a program and then do it again after compiling to be able to run the program,

The DST in Chile has changed due to the earthquake. I am using openSuSE 11.2, but my clock is using the pre-earthquake info. I am currently using timezone and timezone-java version 2009u-0.1.1, and I believe there is an updated timezone version 2010u, but it hasn't been uploaded to the official repositories yet. How can I fix my timezone?

I have a fedora 11 with kernel package: kernel-PAE-2.6.29.6-217.2.3.fc11.i686
I would like to install the devel package for this kernel version, but I can't find it, because in the fedora repo there is only the original kernel (2.6.29.4....) and in the updates repo there is only the newest kernel package (2.6.30....)
Where can I find the packages which are between the fedora and update repos' versions?

This has been going on for over a week. Do I need to use a different URL for the non-oss repository? I live in New York, United States.

Is it possible to check out the log as well when you are checking out a version from some repo. For instance this is a game I like :-
[Code]...
The game is called dawn-rpg and one can find about it at dawn-rpg.sourceforge.net but that's not what I want to talk about. The thing it would be so much more convenient for me if instead of going to the svn mirror or whatever it is and checking out the log, it was local. I know I could do something like this :-
svn log > svnlog150611.txt
This would download the log file and put the contents in some text file I have named as svnlog150611.txt . The problem with this way of doing things is that each time I have to check out I would have to create a new txt file with that date. If there was a way one could check out the log as well when checking out a new version/release it would be nice. Its also possible that this might be already be there and there might be another command to use locally that I am not aware about. In that case, would look forward to people to share the same.

I wasn't paying proper attention when adding a repo to yast and need to find the file were the info is saved to delete this. The problem is that whenever i use yast it comes up with an error code saying that it can't find the data for the 'problem' repo. Have tried zypper rm but that comes up with a similar error advising that the data is in a format that was not expected. My thinking is to track the file were the yast repo source details are saved, delete this and then just add the repos that i use back.

I am running Ubuntu 9.04 at work and have a sudden need to install a newer version of python-support (> 0.9.0) than is currently available in the repo (0.8.7) for my Ubuntu version. Upgrading to 9.10 is not an option as we are planning to jump to 10.04 LTS in the next few months and I am unable (unwilling) to mess with a complete upgrade prior. Is it possible for me to upgrade to the newest version of python-support - or is this package OS version specific? Assuming it's possible, how might I go about the process of upgrading?

1. I was trying to compile a new version of blender from source.
2. It wasn't working. Apparently it is using python 3.2 now.
3. So I grabbed the source of python 3.2, compiled and installed. I think.
4. Still wouldn't compile. Couldn't find python 3.2.
5. So I went in to usr/share/python and changed debian-defaults to use 3.2 as the default.
6. To do that I made myself the owner of the usr directory
7. Now my system is buggered.
8. How do I restore roots privileges (if thats the problem)?
