Software :: Synaptic Apps Don't Appear In Main Menu?

Apr 5, 2010

I'm using Linux Mint 8 Helena, and from time to time keep installing apps from synaptic.= However, many times the apps I install do not appear in the Main Menu. I've even tried going to the "Main Menu" options in the Control Center, but do not see the apps unchecked anywhere there - I've even tried restarting=

Is it possible to remove them just one by one with out any extras being marked for removal as well?

Ubuntu :: Main Menu Won't Update?

Oct 23, 2010

I'm trying to make the Debian sub menu appear by clicking 'on' the Debian box in System -> Preferences -> Main Menu but when I exit the Debian sub menu doesn't appear. One post I found talked about ROOT owning the directories, but not sure if that is the case with me or not.

I last asked this four years ago and got a response with a very lengthy script that had to be run at boot time, in terminal mode.

Ubuntu :: Removing Icons From Main Menu?

Aug 9, 2010

I'm trying to configure Ubuntu 10.04 for my personal tastes. I have already done a lot but I need help in continuing my endeavour., I come here, having Googled my query and receiving no help, to ask you lot.The icons on the main menu (the one that only has the black Ubuntu logo; not the default three menu one) looks simply vulgar so I want to remove them. I was able to do so in the past but now it eludes me. I think having the icons for everything looks unprofessional and cluttered. Is there a way I can remove those nasty icons from the menu?So it is clear, I'm talking about the Swiss Army knife, cards, and etc on the main menu and all the other icons on the sub-menus.

Ubuntu :: Setup A Main Menu In Docky?

Oct 26, 2010

Alright so I recently started using Cardapio with the intent of replacing the panels with a single dock. The only thing left to do is to replace the docky icon with the cardapio menu. Apparently there is a key in the gconf-editor apps/docky-2/Docky/Items/DockyItem that can be used to change what the docky icon does. I am unable to find the folder DockyItems in the hierarchy. I added both the folder and the key but it makes no change. I'm using the latest Docky build and Ubuntu 10.10 so things may have changed since the write-ups on how to do this. Has anyone successfully added the menu functionality with the latest versions or at least figured out where the DockyItems went to? its the last thing I'm changing on my desktop... PS. Is there any way to add the notification area/user logout to the dock as well?
