E: pidgin-ppa: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Sometimes when I go to update things or install new packages I get the error message shown. What is it? How do I fix it? or should I just ignore it? Seems like its keeping me from getting some updates and installing new packages.
Previously after doing aptitude upgrade, my pidgin seems broken with no gui shown. So I decided to download the latest source from pidgin website and build it from source, but I think I made situation worse because it then complained that ssl lib was needed. Then I removed the libpurple (e.g. aptitude purge libpurple0 libpurple-bin libpurple-dev) and reinstalled pidgin (aptitude install pidgin). Now it shows the error
pidgin: symbol lookup error: pidgin: undefined symbol: purple_media_element_info_get_type
I searched on the internet and can not find a solution. The clues on the internet says that's because the piding I use is the older version of libpurple. But I think I've removed all with purge and reinstalled it. Maybe some legacy binary is referenced. What or where it might be? Or where there may contain related information.

I have a Kubuntu 10.10 install on which I can't update my packages due to some fail conflict between pidgin and pidgin-facebookchat. I can't even remove the stuff via apt-get due to this conflict...

On a fresh install of squeeze, I can't log in to an AIM account with being immediately disconnected and given this error: You have been connecting and disconnecting too frequently. Wait ten minutes and try again. If you continue to try, you will need to wait even longer.
I waited for several hours before trying to reconnect, but got the same message. Searching for the error led me to some bug reports from upwards of three years ago.
Strangely, this error hasn't occurred on any of my other squeeze systems.
I can ping login.oscar.aol.com as well as login.messaging.aol.com; both resolve to 205.188.251.43 for me. I tried changing the "Server" under "Advanced" to this address, but again I got the same error.

When I tried to update my ubuntu, I received an error regarding the UUID not existing. When I updated, everything on the system was swell, but now I get the UUID does not exist. I reckon that ubuntu 10.04 does not need UUID. I can only run from the ubuntu shell with limited commands. I tried to edit the file /etc/default/Grub and it claimed to not exist. I have 2 separate versions of ubuntu on there, but it's using the grub installed from ubuntu 8.04. It says I'm using grub .97 beta. I am sure I have a brief idea of what to do. The problem is accessing the file necessary to do that. I will have to remove a line that says "LINUX_USE_UUID=true" or something like that. I don't know where that folder is. Apparently people say that its in /etc/default/grub. That doesn't exist for me.
This happened when I was reloading my repos using synaptic on Ubuntu 10.10. How do I fix this?

I have installed Fedora Core 12 and all seems fine. I have also set up the main repostiories as was suggested on the following fedora set up guide website:[URL]..I have since tried to update my Fedora release with all the updates available, alas I get the following error message:

It has been working until this. I shouldn't think that I need both the 586 and the 64 versions, but it won't let me get rid of the 586 version. Trying to do that results in:

After installing ubuntu 10.4 I tried to update but it caused some error as reported as follows. I have already tried to googling the solutions but it seems that there's no right one for me.
I was trying to update my debian lenny and aptitude gives a whole lot of errors about files it can't fetch due to a 404 error. Aparently de files i need are no longer available in the places they where supposed to on de Debian-servers.It concerns 35 packages that can't be updated. I got a problem while updating KDE from 4.1.2 to 4.2. In our college we can't download more than 20MB officially. So I'm unable to get kdegames which is 32MB from Konsole so I downlaoded it using proxy and I copied it into the /var/cache/yum/updates/packages/ folder and now using this command (yum groupinstall 'KDE (K Desktop Environment)').
I tried to update to KDE 4.2 using Konsole but it is showing: Error Downloading Packages: 6:kdegames-4.2.0-1.fc10.i386: failure: kdegames-4.2.0-1.fc10.i386.rpm from updates: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.
And even by double-clicking the KDEgames rpm file I'm unable to install it is saying GPG (I'm not sure GPG or not, start with G i think) Key missing so it is taking too much time and not doing anything.
1.) I made a few updates that I found a website my friend sent me: http://blog.thesilentnumber.me/2009/...nstalling.html
however, when I would go to enter the APT line in the other sources in the software sources windows then close and reload it I would get the following error message code...
Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
I also attached a screen shot of the error message window.
2.) I don't know if i should post another issue I had, but when i try to run GNUnet it says that Daemon is not running. I'm not sure what that is all about.
