I'm using the shiki colors theme from the repos right now. "Shiki-Noble" to be specific. When typing something into Firefox's URL bar the internet addresses have got a dark font color and are hard to read on the dark background. Here's a screenshot: FF.jpg

I've had similar issues with other themes and Firefox's URL bar before.

OpenSUSE :: 11.3 And KDE 4.4.4 - Additional Dark Color Theme Does Not Work Properly

Jul 20, 2010

After an upgrade to OpenSuse 11.3 KDE has gone to worse. I am beginning to believe that dark themes are impossible to use on the new KDE 4.4.4. The only theme that works properly is Air, but I find it to much white. Aya or Elegance theme have problems showing the buttons on plasma elements, so has any other theme but Air. Trying to switch to an additional dark color theme (Obsidian Coast) does not work properly either.

The buttons on plasma elements are invisible (the button panel that appears when the mouse is over an plasma element). Sometimes different elements are distorted, i.e. icons, text input boxes etc. I wonder how it is possible that the developers at KDE can make it worse. This worked perfectly on OpenSuse 11.2 and its KDE version.

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Can't Even Print More Than One Page Correctly - Epson Stylus Color 760 Totally Messing Up

Jun 11, 2011

one month at this stage and noticed recently that all automatic updates to my system have ceased, so I tried a zypper update from the terminal yesterday and believe it or not I got 1110 updates, about 7 deletions a 3 programs were changing architecture. This went all all day yesterday and finished sometime early this morning when I had to force a reboot as the shutdown button did nothing. After all those updates I do not notice any version upgrades for a few things I checked like Office, Amarok, DigiKAM etc but I am back to a most annoying problem that I had in my first few days i.e. my printer an Epson Stylus Color 760 is totally messing up 2nd and subsequent pages in a printout.

The last time this happened it seemed to sort itself out because deleting the printers discovered and their drivers did nothing. I am sorry to say it is putting me off SUSE 11.4 which I had liked BUT it is so frustating when I can't eben print more than one page correctly. I have come from Windows 7 where these problems did not exist.

Ubuntu :: Firefox Menu Text Color?

Oct 8, 2010

I just upgraded to Maverick this afternoon, and have run into one very small, but very annoying problem.

Since upgrading, the text color for the Firefox menu is black. This makes it unreadable/invisible using probably the majority of personas. I have been able to find no way of changing this color. This was not an issue in Lucid.

There have been other threads on this subject, some of which suggest editing a userChrome.css file. I have edited that file, but upon restarting Firefox, the changes I have made revert back to what they had been before I made my edits.

I have also fiddled around with trying to change all manner of GTK settings, but still nothing has had any influence. I logged into a Gnome session, as well, but was still unable to remedy this.

Ubuntu :: Change The Color Of The Text Before The Input At The Terminal?

Jan 17, 2011

I really don't know what to call it, but I want to change the color of text that appears before you type in whatever your input is.

For example:

Code:
negrabee@david-desktop:~$ ls /home/david/

I would want "negrabee@david-desktop:~$" to be in a different color. When you have whole bunch of commands and text in a full screen terminal, it gets really annoying to have to look for where you're entering the command so changing the color.

Ubuntu :: Changing Gnome-panel Text Color?

Mar 22, 2011

Unfortunately, it makes the globalmenu and clock applets disappear on my gnome-panel. My panel is set to system theme, though when I choose a solid color I can get the hidden text to show up. I want to preserve the system color so I need to change the text color somehow. Also, I don't know why it uses that bluish color when clicked on since I never defined such a color in the appearance settings.

General :: How To Specify Text Message Color On Gnome Terminal

Aug 11, 2010

OS is CentOS 5.5, and GNOME terminal emulator (v2.16.0). However I regard the question is not related with OS/Gnome version level. My question is whether if color setting is available or not for the text character outputted by kernel (or shell, i.e. Bash). Normally we can specify/modify text character color (and background color) with property setting on the terminal. However, it only takes affect to the text for inputting character, not for outputted character by kernel/shell. For example, when we type a shell command "ls -al <cr>", the text appears with the color along with the terminal property.

Meanwhile, the text message displayed on the console (output message against "ls -al" command), in this case it must be file and/or directory names, will appear with some preset color which we've not preliminarily set. In my case, I set Text color with "White", Background color with "Black". Then I expect the text output message color displayed by kernel/shell would be some brighter color. But the color is "blue" which does not look better brightness against "Black" background. For this situation what I'd like to know is how to set/specify the color outputted by the kernel/shell (or whether or not it is possible to set manually).

Programming :: Easier Way To Color Text In Perl Like BASH?

Apr 8, 2010

I've been trying to figure out a way to more easily color text in Perl like I do on Bash on a Linux box. In bash, what I'll do is set color variables up to equal the escape sequence, then echo out with escape seqeunces to print it exactly how I want it. Typically I'll want a character or a word in a different color, not the whole line. For example

echo -n -e "My face is turning ${RED}red${UNCOLOR} like a lobster." In Perl with the term::ANSIColor module, it seems to just do a line. Am I being dense? Is there a way that I can do it like I do it in BASH that's fairly easy to read after the fact?

Software :: Header With Custom Text On Each Page In Writer ?

Dec 15, 2010

I have a large document in two columns to which I want to add a header on each page. The problem is that headers must contain the same text, except for things like page numbers, and I want to have different text on each page.

I thought of using a frame for the header, but it would have to be inserted manually into every page.

I tried defining a pair of sections, the second with two columns, but when I put text into the second section it just overwrote the first. Even if it didn't, I suspect that the sections would have to be created for each page.

I've got the manual (all 536 pages of it) but it doesn't address my problem (or much else, for that matter). This seems such a simple requirement.

Software :: Seeking 'tiny Text' Page Thumbnail Utility

Jan 20, 2010

Can anyone help me with accomplishing the following: software writes to STDOUT --> filter --> PDF or PS "tiny text" thunbnail. Where "label" means something that fits on a biz card or smaller and remains readable. Here is an example,I want a "paper label" for data DVD media, or to include in the case with a carry-around USB drive.I can make content with ls -lh and similar utils with some post processing, but the resulting text file prints too large.A biz card has a similar form factor to a letter page only much smaller, so I need a filter of some sort.Process the text into postscript(ps) or PDF "tiny text" page thumbnail.Print this thumbnail label and store it with the media.I can also use the online page thumbnails as index into an archive or catalog.

Can some TEXT--TO--PS or TEXT--TO--PDF expert help work out how to accomplish this sort of thing? What do most people do about keeping an index or catalog of offline media (CD, DVD, USB drive) contents? (I know that "don't bother" is a popular option.)

I was reading something and copypasting the odd bit onto a gedit note: left the room, returned to find blank page except for "nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn". Then I saw that it was just the tail-end of a longer line which had stretched the page width to max, and by deleting backwards I arrived beneath my intact notes. The line was "I[my bolding]nnnnnnnnnn...nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnby v9898". I googled v9898. And there's a v9898. com. It provides something for Windows systems.
