Software :: Makefile To Not Default Directories

Jun 3, 2010

I'm compiling some applications in a pc, using:

Code:
./configure
make
make install

but I want to run the applications in another pc, so I have used the option --prefix=/some/directory/ when executing ./configure, so I could just copy this folder to the other pc. However, my programs now need to have libraries and shared files in the same location that I used with --prefix, instead of /lib, /usr, etc.

Programming :: Makefile - Handles Directories ?

Dec 8, 2009

I'm trying to figure out how Make handles directories.

How can I modify this makefile so it will put all of the .o files in a separate build directory?

Code:

But make ignores this and still puts main.o in the base directory. And if I refer to the build directory in the dependencies for bandit, make complains about "no rule ..."

I want to keep main.cpp in the base directory, all other sources in the src directory, and all object files in the build directory.

Ubuntu :: Set Default File Permissions For Newly Created Directories?

Nov 18, 2010

I'm just wondering: I know that umask sets the default file permissions for files, however I want to know if there is anyway to set default file permissions for newly created directories.

For example, I want my user to create new directories that anyone can access and modify (777) but I want the new files the user creates to be 755 (read by everyone, written only by user).

Is this possible?

Ubuntu :: Samba - Get The Correct Default Permissions When Users Create Directories Through Windows?

Apr 1, 2010

I've got a small issue that when a Windows user creates a new folder through Windows Explorer (from the menu or by right clicking) the new folder is only accessible to that particular user. Example: user SABKAR (member of the HR group) creates a new folder called MarcTestMenu in a shared Samba directory through Windows Explorer:

[Code]....

At this point user MORAMY cannot copy a file or open the directory MarcTestMenu. MORAMY gets a 'not accessible' error message in Windows. If I su to the Samba box and issue this command:

how I can get the correct default permissions when users create directories through Windows?

Probably my lack of understanding in ACLS.

General :: Multiple Users To Create Directories Over SFTP So The New Directories Keep The Same Permissions?

May 15, 2011

I want to make a webserver with multiple users allowed to login through SFTP to a specific folder, www.Multiple users are added, lets say user1 and user2, and all of them belonging to the www-data group. The www directory has an owner www-data and a group www-data.

I have used chmod -R 775 on the www folder, but after I try to create a folder test through my SFTP server (using Filezilla) the group of the directory created has only r and x permissions, and I am not able to log in with the second user user2 and create a directory within www/test due to a lack of w permission to the group.

I also tried using chmod 2775 on www directory, but without luck. Can somebody explain to me, how can I make it so that a newly created directory inherits the root directory group permissions?

Debian :: No Targets Specified And No Makefile Found

Feb 21, 2016

I seem to be running into this issue a lot when installing various programs. I downloaded and installed a tar file (Linux Wacom Project. xf86-input-wacom-0.32.0 specifically) for my Bamboo tablet. Here's what I did:

Code: Select allsudo apt-get install build-essential

Looks like everything went well, but it asked me for a CD?... I just ignored that and went to the next step in the guide.

Code: Select allsudo apt-get build-dep wacom-tools

Looks like everything went well here. But near the end I get this...

Code: Select allchecking for doxygen... no
configure: WARNING: doxygen not found - documentation targets will be skipped
checking for rint in -lm... yes
checking for XORG... no
configure: error: in `/home/mason/Desktop/xf86-input-wacom-0.32.0':
configure: error: The pkg-config script could not be found or is too old.  Make sure it is in your PATH or set the PKG_CONFIG environment variable to the full path to pkg-config.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables XORG_CFLAGS and XORG_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details.

I didn't really pay attention to THAT until I do...

Code: Select allcd ~/Desktop/linuxwacom-0.8.8-6
./configure --prefix=/usr
make

Where in I get this error message after I enter in Code: Select allmake at the terminal

Code: Select allmake: *** No targets specified and no makefile found.  Stop.

Software :: Makefile Conditional Does Not Work?

Jan 29, 2010

I'm trying to write a make file to deploy software in a production setup.

The first thing I'm trying to do is detect if the user running the make is root.

From the documentation scattered about, I came up with this:

Code:

USERID=$(shell id -u)
all:
$(info User Id is $(USERID))
ifeq ($(REQUIRED_USER),0)
$(info Running as root... OK)

[Code]....

As you can see, in both situations, make executes both branches of the conditional.
