Software :: Installing Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Using Wine?
Dec 27, 2010
When I run the Acrobat Pro installer, it does its little unpacking thing, takes about 5 minutes to get all the way through, and at 99.something% I get this error:
[URL]
I've tried several times, always the same result. And it happens even with no other programs running under wine.
Debian 5.0 32bit Iceweasel 3.0.6 On browsing a document on a website it popup;Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 (with Asian Font pack installed) or above is required for viewing this document. Please install the required software. I couldn't find its package is on repo
Adobe Reader: [URL] Which package shall I download? Where shall I retain the package to install so that it can be detected on browsing?
I have been able to successfully install Acrobat 4 on CrossOver 8.0.0. I recently purchased Acrobat 9, but could not install it. Everything seems to go smoothly except that the serial number is rejected by the Acrobat installer.
1. Has anybody successfully installed a recent version of Acrobat on WINE or CrossOver?
2. What is it about WINE that would interfere with the serial number?
(I successfully installed on WinXP, so I do have a good S/N.)
On a Debian system, I installed Adobe Acrobat Reader using the Linux binary (AdbeRdr9.4.2-1_i486linux_enu.bin) downloaded from Adobe's website. I realized there's a way to install it from a Debian package as opposed to Adobe's binary (and be able to keep up better with security updates), so I want to remove Adobe's version and install the Debian package. What's the right way to uninstall Reader when it was installed this way?
I am currently trying to install adobe photoshop with wine in my computer. I downloaded a torrent copy and everything is working fine with it.. Just one problem... When it starts to initiates the installer, I begin to have problems. The initializer loads fully, but then, when it's done, the initializer goes but it doesn't bring up an installation screen..
Adobe Acrobat has stopped working. If I try it from the command line I get
Quote:
./acroread: No such file or directory
I have tried re-installing but there is no difference and the file is clearly there. Is it possible a recent upgrade of a slackware patch might have caused this?
Is their a program in ubuntu that can match adobe acrobat 9 pro extended?Or what is the best ubuntu PDF program, that can allow the most features seen in adobe acrobat 9 pro extended.

This isn't exactly a Linux question, because it also happens with the Windows version, but I've got a pdf file with a number of images in it. When I try to copy the image, it works except the pasted image is just a blank rectangle.I've tried this with The Gimp on Linux and Windows, Photoshop Elements on Windows, and some other programs. I get similar results from all of them. Sometimes the rectangle is transparent, sometimes black, but never the image I've selected. However the rectangle does appear to be the size of the selected image, so something is being picked up.
I downloaded Adobe Air, both the rpm and the .bin versions. First I tried the rpm, it went through the motions of installing but just disappeared. then I tied the .bin, got tot the installer, accepted the license, entered my root password, but it stopped installing with "an error occurred. Adobe AIR could not be installed. Install either Gnome Keyring or KDE KWallet before installing Adobe AIR". I opened Kwallet and tried again, but to no avail. I am running OS11.4 64 bit. What can I do to get this thing working?
I am using Mandriva 2010.2.I installed Adobe Digital Editions using Wine and the install went fine. I can run adobe digital, and i can download books from my public library (download.maine.infonet.org) and they will open in Adobe Digital Editions. My problem is this: I have registered my copy with Adobe but I want to transfer these to my PanDigital Novel (white) and the device doesn't show up in Adobe Dig Editions. It does show up in Dolphin and I can browse the device. But I want to drag a book from Adobe Dig onto the PanDigital device. I am guessing it might be something to do with the way Wine recognizes devices - but being a bit of a newb i could be way off base. I checked winehq and it appears that Dig Editions 1.7 (version i am using) has silver or gold support.
When using Linux, like Fedora or Ubuntu, can WINE run Abobe Dreamweaver or Microsoft Expression or is there a program in Linux that has a similar user interface to Adobe or Microsoft? Further, does Amaya or Netbeans have free tutorials, or books or e-books? I need to adjust a Flash template, but things are going wrong with free trials of each, and I am concerned that if I buy the CDs that I may waste my money, as much as $600. I think WINE may run them, but Microsoft need net framework 4.0 and Silverlight, then the trial of Expression lasts 30 days.
When I try to play this game Red Line Rumble 3 on [URL].gamelanding/redlinerumble3.jsp I get missing plugins. I checked if the plugin is installed on Google Chrome by typing about:plugins it says Shockwave flash but no Shockwave player. I have tried looking for the Shockwave player plugin from Debian packages and the official website but I cannot install it from the official website of the Shockwave player because it is only available for Windows and Mac. [URL]... Is there anyway I can install Adobe Shockwave Player on Linux without the use of Wine or Virtualbox?
I've got wine installed and I've been using it for a while, but I just installed adobe flash but it doesn't show up in my wine menu. I know where I can find it in My Programs I just don't know where that is. Where is the virtual C: drive in wine located?
I'm a complete newbie to Fedora and am just trying F15. I am trying to install Adobe Flash Player and am getting no-where fast. I have searched in the forums and on the web, copying and pasting the entries I have found but keep getting all sorts of errors because basically I don't know what I am doing.
I just installed Fedora 14 and I need to install adobe flash. I found a few thread explaining how to, but when I type: [jlb@xxx ~]$ sudo rpm -ivh [URL]
It tells me that I am not in the sudoers file. This is the message I got: jlb is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.
What is this error mean? When I installed fedora yesterday, I was prompted to setup a root user password, which I did. I also need to install schockwave player and it is the same.
Have you tried installing adobe flash plugin recently? My distro is slackware 13 64bit, I just can't install this plugin. When unpacked, it gives me a lib only, I believe it is supposed to give me the 'flashplayer-installer, as it has always done before. Now it gives me this 'libflashplayer.so' only.[URL]..

As a newbie to linux, I just installed fedora 12 on my labtop.I am having problems installing my lemark 6600 series wireless printer and also having serrious issues with adobe flash player.Another issue i have is that I cant log in as root user.
I just installed Fedora 11 on my Sony Vaio laptop. I couldn't stand Windows Vista any longer. I installed Fedora 11 just fine with no issues. But I seem to be having trouble installing programs such as Adobe Flash Player, Reader, Limewire, Java pluggin, etc. Everytime I try to install these, it says for example "Could not display "/home/blackout87gn/Download/jre-6u16-linux-i586-rpm.bin". This was for the Java file I downloaded. I made sure that all these files I downloaded were for Linux. So being the newb that I am, can someone point me in the right direction on how to install these applications? Also what does .rpm .bin .deb and .tar.gz represent?
I have a 64 bit version of fedora 13. I've been trying to install adobe flash and I've tried a couple of different guides and none of them worked for me can anyone give me better instructions?
How to install Adobe Flash on my netbook. I recently installed openSUSE 11.4 which I am guessing is the newest one. I also am using Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta 12. I can't seem to install it at all. First I downloaded the YUM file and tried installing it with some weird program that came with openSUSE and it is just too difficult. I definitely do not know how to use it. Then I read I should be installing the tar.gz file and so I did. Even then people have different ways of installing it. The easiest way I have seen has been the way Adobe's website tells how to install it.
Installation instructions for tar.gz 1. Click the download link to begin installation. A dialog box will appear asking you where to save the file. 2. Save the .tar.gz file to your desktop and wait for the file to download completely. 3. Unpackage the file. 4. Copy the libflashplayer.so file to the plugins folder of your browser. Refer to your browser vendor for the location of this folder. 5. To verify the plug-in is installed in your Mozilla browser, launch Mozilla and choose Help > About Plug-ins from the browser menu.
Now my problem is that when it tells me to copy "Copy the libflashplayer.so file to the plugins folder of your browser" I cannot find the "plugins" folder in my mozilla/firefox folder. Now I'm actually wondering if it's because it a Beta version of Mozilla Firefox. I'm not very good with "coding" and "commands".
I installed the player from both the Add/Remove Applications and downloading with install when asked by Firefox, but neither option works. It shows as installed but Firefox keeps asking me to install it whenever it needs it.
Just a little question about installing the Adobe Flash Player. I downloaded the Flash Player library in tar.gz format directly from Adobe. I want to install it in the default plug-in directory for Opera, which is /usr/lib/opera/plugins. When I try to copy the file, I get an error saying that I do not have the sufficient permissions to copy a file to that directory. Does anyone know how to copy the file using the command line, using the SUDO command?
