Software :: Adobe Flash Plugin Not Installing?

Jan 10, 2010

Have you tried installing adobe flash plugin recently? My distro is slackware 13 64bit, I just can't install this plugin. When unpacked, it gives me a lib only, I believe it is supposed to give me the 'flashplayer-installer, as it has always done before. Now it gives me this 'libflashplayer.so' only.[URL]..

Quote:

Installation instructions for tar.gz Click the download link to begin installation. A dialog box will appear asking you where to save the file. Save the .tar.gz file to your desktop and wait for the file to download completely. Unpackage the file. A directory called install_flash_player_10_linux will be created. In terminal, navigate to this directory and type ./flashplayer-installer to run the installer. Click Enter. The installer will instruct you to shut down your browser(s). Once the installation is complete, the plug-in will be installed in your Mozilla browser. To verify, launch Mozilla and choose Help > About Plug-ins from the browser menu.

Ubuntu :: Installing Adobe Flash Plugin - RPM Package File

Aug 17, 2010

I am a 'newbie' to ubuntu (with 45+ years as a 'computer nerd'). I am trying to follow the instructions for installing the Flash plug-in so I can view some of the action on webpages. I get on terminal and the prompt is mike@mike-laptop. The instructions say to key in "# rpm -Uvh <rpm_package_file>". I have tried as many variations of this command as I can think of with no response. I am assuming that my interpretation of <rpm_package_file> is incorrect.

Debian :: Iceweasel - Installing Adobe Flash Player Plugin

Aug 9, 2009

i am a proud newbie user of debian linux. the desktop i use is xfce. i have iceweasel as the web browser. it cannot access flash content like videos videos and some others because the adobe flash plugin is not installed. i've done the following without success. i downloaded flash_player_10_linux.tar from adobe's site, unpacked it to get libflashplayer.so. but under /usr/lib/iceweasel, there is no plugins folder to put it in. there is, however, a broken link called plugins. then i created a plugins folder under home/myaccount/.mozilla and pasted the libflashplayer.so file over there. i restarted iceweasel, but it cannot still detect flash content.

then i ran apt-get install of jre and downloaded all java packages. however, while installation it gave an error saying, "cannot overwrite iceweasel/plugins". this came most probably because as mentioned earlier there is no plugins folder under iceweasel to begin with. on running the about : plugins command, i get "no plugins installed". i then deleted the plugins folder from .mozilla and directly pasted the libflashplayer.so file under usr/lib/iceweasel (since it contained many other .so files). how to enable iceweasel to enable the adobe flashplayer plugin.

Fedora :: Get A Copy Of The Previous Version Of Adobe's Flash Plugin?

Jun 25, 2010

Just wondering if anyone would be kind enough to point me to a link for the adobe flash plugin version previous to version 10.1 for i386. I don't have anything in /var/cache/yum/i386/12/adobe-linux-i386/packages/ because I think I cleared yum's cache. I'm experiencing major regressions with flash 10.1, stuttering videos and some videos no longer play. Version 10.1 is a major disaster for adobe. It really is appalling for an update. Also, if anyone else is experiencing flash version 10.1 issues, please share and if anyone is considering upgrading to it, my advice is keep the old one handy, you will likely need it.

Ubuntu :: Firefox Adobe Flash Plugin Can No Longer Be Enabled?

May 9, 2010

I'm having an issue changing the flash plug to display flash. I clean installed 10.04 a week ago, upgraded to to the closed source adobe plugin, and everything was great. However, a day ago, I had an issue with one site, and I decided to switch back to the default swfdec player. Since that time I have not been able to switch back to adobe. Every time I attempt to, firefox complains that adobe is already installed. Even if I remove the adobe flash plugin via synaptic and allow firefox to reinstall it, it still uses swfdec.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Getting An Alternative For The Flash Plugin Provided By Adobe?

Feb 17, 2011

I'm running ubuntu maverick on a 64bit system. In any browser, ..... or other flash video's fail to load (grey square appears) other apps are not clickable. also in other apps the flash plugin just plain sucks... liferea doesn't play video's for instance, not from any source (vimeo, .....,...) since last week it just started crashing my browsers, or even freeze up the whole system, until the correct browserwindow was closed... I'm using gnome and compiz on top. Is there an alternative for the flash plugin provided by adobe? are there known issues with particular gnome or compiz settings, or any other settings for that matter?

Ubuntu Installation :: Update Manager Imposes Adobe Flash Plugin?

Nov 23, 2010

Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 Today, 23.11.2010, the update manager did present two posts with adobe flash plugin updates at the top of the list.

Since I abhor adobe as much as m$, I never installed their flash plugin but did use gnash instead (which works sometimes, and sometimes not...)

So my first question was, why should I update a thing that I do not have and do not want ? Following I did UNcheck the checkbox of these two updates, which in my mind means that Update manager must NOT do these UNchecked updates, isn't it ?

I was terrified to observe that, even UNchecked, the adobe flash plugin has been installed against my will. I would have expected such arrogance from m$, but not from Ubuntu...

Of course, I went to synaptic immediately to uninstall this crap. Knowing how hard it is to get rid of flash under m$, I have some doubts about the fact if synaptic did really uninstall this crap cleanly and completely. I would not be astonished to find at least some remains on my HD one of these days. My current feeling is that nobody on earth can be trusted any more...

1. I would really like to know why these updates were listed in the update manager at all, when the thing to update was never installed before.

2. And I would like to know why they were dictatorially imposed, even though I did UNcheck them.

Ubuntu :: "The Adobe Flash Plugin Has Crashed" On Video Sites?

I have been using Ubuntu for quite sometime and did have some problems getting it to work on my 64bit installation. I had it working fine since I fixed some issues I had when I first installed my current system (10.04 64 bit).

I have updated through the Update Manager today, and after restarting I got into ..... and started seeing the above message in place of the ..... video, it happens in around 95% of videos. The same issue is in vimeo but I didnt find a single video that worked there.

The update installed Firefox version 3.6.6 which has the new flash crash detection. I had flash crash on me when I first installed 10.04 but I used the Lahf fix here:[URL]It doesnt seem to crash on any non video sites that use flash like Facebook.
