View 1 RepliesOn a Debian system, I installed Adobe Acrobat Reader using the Linux binary (AdbeRdr9.4.2-1_i486linux_enu.bin) downloaded from Adobe's website. I realized there's a way to install it from a Debian package as opposed to Adobe's binary (and be able to keep up better with security updates), so I want to remove Adobe's version and install the Debian package. What's the right way to uninstall Reader when it was installed this way?

When I run the Acrobat Pro installer, it does its little unpacking thing, takes about 5 minutes to get all the way through, and at 99.something% I get this error:

I've tried several times, always the same result. And it happens even with no other programs running under wine.
I have 13.0 64 with alien's multilib packages.
Adobe Acrobat has stopped working. If I try it from the command line I get

i have mandriva, and i can download progams such as the newest version of mandriva, the latest version of firefox, the latest version of flash player or acrobat. but when i try to open and run them i can't. it's to the point where videos no longer supports my old browser or flash player, and it's to the point where i can't load myspace because it tells me i need a new browser, so i download it, but it doesn't do anything.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis isn't exactly a Linux question, because it also happens with the Windows version, but I've got a pdf file with a number of images in it. When I try to copy the image, it works except the pasted image is just a blank rectangle.I've tried this with The Gimp on Linux and Windows, Photoshop Elements on Windows, and some other programs. I get similar results from all of them. Sometimes the rectangle is transparent, sometimes black, but never the image I've selected. However the rectangle does appear to be the size of the selected image, so something is being picked up.

Last night I decided to upgrade from 9.10 to 10.0.4 through Upgrade Manager with the upgrade button. The upgrade ran over an hour and errored in the "Installing the upgrades" step with the following messages on the Terminal screen:
"rpmdb: Program version 4.8 doesn't match environment version 4.7.

I went to bed without doing anything. This morning at 7:30am EST I checked the status of this and nothing changed to the screen it was still stuck on this error with progress bar at 4 minutes in Upgrade Manager. I can move my mouse and even open Firefox 3.6.3 to search for issues within Ubuntu environment so I am not frozen. I haven't tried anything else yet.
I have a weird/stupid question. How do you know what command would start an application after installing it, if the synaptic package name doesn't match?
For example google chrome and lmsensors. The first appears as Chrome in Synaptic and the second as lmsensors, but to run them you have to type google-chrome for the first and sensors for the second in the console to start them.
When I did locate sensors or locate chrome/chromium, nothing came up in the search that would hint me that I need to run those commands. I had to rely on a google search and look for someone else's answer. Is there a better way, one that I can figure it out on my own?
I want to remove a program installed in the opt file on the root directory. It is a program I installed with adobe air just to see if it worked. It does but now I don't know how to remove it.

I succeeded in installing Adobe Reader 9 (I need to review PDF documents in a number of PDF readers including Adobe as part of my job) but I can't open any PDFs using Reader. Postscript version 3010 revision 864) and I can print from Firefox. I cannot print PDFs from either Acrobat or Evince. The print jobs show up as completed in the print jobs list.

I am trying to install the adobe reader in Fedora 14 using yum. When I try this I get a list of packages that also need to be installed. What do I do? I tried to remove avahi-libs-0.6.27-2.fc14.i686, but it wanted to also remove 200+ other things.Needless to say I declined the removal.

First I tried the rpm, it went through the motions of installing but just disappeared. then I tied the .bin, got tot the installer, accepted the license, entered my root password, but it stopped installing with "an error occurred. Adobe AIR could not be installed. Install either Gnome Keyring or KDE KWallet before installing Adobe AIR". I opened Kwallet and tried again, but to no avail. I am running OS11.4 64 bit. What can I do to get this thing working?

This happens for all PDFs, whether I download them or create them myself. Has anyone else seen this happen? It's not a big deal, since I can just rm those files. I'm just curious about how this happens, and if there's a way to stop it. I'm using Acrobat Reader 9.3.2 in F13 (32-bit).
