Software :: Fedora 13 Gcc Dependency Frustration?
Nov 1, 2010
I have no means of interface with the internet on the machine in question until gcc is available to compile the drivers for my abhorrently incompatible wireless. My router only supports local connection via Ethernet. I have been hunting down dependencies for the past few hours and have come to a dead end. By my current path
Code:
<could not do simulate: Can't install <filepath>/glibc-2.11.2-3.x86_64.rpm as no transaction > is giving me trouble
I don't particularly care what version within reason, I just need a list of specific packages and locations to get gcc running without yum or equivalent means of downloading to the machine itself. Alternatively, a solution to my current error looks promising as I think I have all of the compatible packages for this one. here are the packages on the flash drive I have been using

I had two potential converts to Fedora this week, but had to go windows because I could not demonstrate how the Internet worked with the Live CD. In both cases networking did not catch the wireless card. In one instance I just ignored what card that was, but the other, I wrote it down: Lenovo p/n 42T0865 Intel 802.11 Kedron Am I doomed to failing with wireless NICs on the live CD? Any suggestions?
p.s it is hard enough to get people to switch due to that lack of applications (usually Quick Books, Acrobat Professional, various tax software, UPS World Ship, FedEx Ship, various business-to-business web sites that only support IE), without the Live CD failing to demonstrate how well Linux works.

I really haven't used Fedora that much lately. I decided to give 14 a try and I wanted to duel boot with LXDE in case Debian SID crashes or there are other issues. Brief run down. I have both Debian and Fedora on seperate hard drives, both Encrypted LVM. Each hard drive has, of course, a boot partition that is not encrypted.
Now my issues are this. Fedora does not want to see Debian, Debian does not want to see Fedora (Lover quarrel I think.) Anyways I decided to just install G.A.G boot loader to the MBR and have grub installed on the boot partition for both Debian and Fedora. This worked great for Debian. However I can't seem to get the same grub commands to work with Fedora. As root I can't update-grub at all and when I try to grub-install to Fedora's boot partition it tells me that partition is not in the BIOS.
Now Truecrypt installed fine. But it will not run at all. Not when I click it in the accessories menu or if I try to run it for the command line. This is the first distro I ever had issues with concerning Truecrypt.

I am new to Fedora (using Constantine). I want to like it and it works nicely with on my Thinpad but there is a problem that would make me swith back to Ubuntu/Mint if I don't find a solution to it: I get dependency errors all the time missing librpm.so.0()(64bit) and librpmio.so.0()(64bit)
First I had this problem installing KDEnline and I thought, this program might be to exotic but the same problem stopped the installation of OpenOffice which is very strange. Is installing programs always such difficult for all the different packages like for Open Office? Is Fedora maybe to difficult for me as a intermediate user?

I (or rather, the Yum auto-update) try to update the TeXLive on my FC11 machine but the update fails due to 'missing dependency', spitting out
Missing Dependency: libpoppler.so.4()(64bit) is needed by package texlive-2007-46.fc11.x86_64 (updates)
And strangely now (perhaps for a combination of reasons) I cannot use my auctex. I would like to finish this update anyway, and tried to find libpoppler.so.4 separately, which I haven't yet been able to locate. Poppler itself is installed and updated, and I do see libpoppler.so.5 in my system. So where would I find libpoppler.so.4 on its own? Or should I perhaps downgrade poppler?

I am running Fedora 12 64-bit on a MacBookPro5,1 system. After two weeks of not running Fedora on the system, I boot into it and check for updates with Yum Extender. What is needed to resolve these update issues? Also, I suspect the system is not picking up all the updates that it should. What can I do to determine which updates the system should be getting?

I cannot update perl due to a missing dependency.
Installed perl:
[kbs1@localhost ~]$ rpm -qa | grep perl-5
perl-libwww-perl-5.834-1.fc13.noarch
perl-5.10.1-112.fc13.i686
perl-5.10.1-112.fc13.x86_64
[Code].....
downgrade also does not work. I just updated F12 to F13 using DVD and this occured. Also prevents me from doing "full" yum system update, these packages always fail. I do not understand the problem, it says that perl-libs 5.10.1-112 requires perl-libs 5.10.1-112, but I have that installed.
