Mar 15, 2010I am running Fedora 12 64-bit on a MacBookPro5,1 system. After two weeks of not running Fedora on the system, I boot into it and check for updates with Yum Extender. It only finds a small handful of updates despite the fact that my other system running Fedora 12 32-bit has installed several update over the past two weeks. When I try to apply the available updates I get the following errors: Dependency Resolution Errors:

What is needed to resolve these update issues? Also, I suspect the system is not picking up all the updates that it should. What can I do to determine which updates the system should be getting?

I tried unchecking the problem update files, but then I ended up in a loop that I couldn't find what else was causing these problems. This doesn't seem to be a big problem listed in this forum, so how do I resolve this?

Feb 25, 2010I get following error during automatic patch upgrade of my SuSE 11.2 to latest path revision. I assume it is due to the KDE 4.3.5 Update part of the patch set: compiz-kde4-0.7.8-9.14.x86_64 requires libkdecorations.so.4()(64 bit) but there are no providers. The package manager suggest to replace compiz-kde4-0.7.8-9.14.x86_64 with kwin-4.3.5-0.2.1.x86_64 but I don't want to loose compiz-kde. which repository I must add to resolve the dependency.

downgrade also does not work. I just updated F12 to F13 using DVD and this occured. Also prevents me from doing "full" yum system update, these packages always fail. I do not understand the problem, it says that perl-libs 5.10.1-112 requires perl-libs 5.10.1-112, but I have that installed.

Fedora :: Yum Dependency Checking Broken By Security Update?
Jun 22, 2011The problem is that yum is refusing to install gcc on a new SL6 install. As far as I can make out, a security update that I applied prior to my attempt to install gcc has caused problems. I did a new SL6 install (x86_86) a couple of weeks ago. This was a minimal installation, and I didn't install any dev tools, as I intended to install them later from yum. Since then, I've done very little; I installed a few packages (samba, xemacs, etc), and I let the system update itself. The update installed 'kernel', and updated 'kernel-firmware' [URL]. I now need to install the dev tools (g++, and so on), but I can't. I've tried this from gpk-application, and directly from yum. The complete yum output is below, but the basic error is:

But it is needed by thunderbird update in the course of "yum update". yum exits with RC 1.Is "--skip-broken" the right way to exclude the thunderbird update ("Resolve depsolve problems by removing packages that are causing problems from the transaction")? I am somewhat puzzled as this is a upgrade from a stable installed version. I have confirmed I have libcrypto.so.8 . . . from what I can tell its part of the openssl package but I've got the most current so I don't know how to obtain the libcrypto.so.10 file to correct this issue.
