I am running Fedora 12 64-bit on a MacBookPro5,1 system. After two weeks of not running Fedora on the system, I boot into it and check for updates with Yum Extender. It only finds a small handful of updates despite the fact that my other system running Fedora 12 32-bit has installed several update over the past two weeks. When I try to apply the available updates I get the following errors: Dependency Resolution Errors:
Missing Dependency: kernel-uname-r = 2.6.32.9-70.fc12.x86_64 is needed by package kmod-wl-2.6.32.9-70.fc12.x86_64-5.60.48.36-1.fc12.3.x86_64 (rpmfusion-nonfree-updates)Missing Dependency: kernel-uname-r = 2.6.32.9-70.fc12.x86_64 is needed by package 1:kmod-nvidia-2.6.32.9-70.fc12.x86_64-190.53-3.fc12.x86_64 (rpmfusion-nonfree-updates)Dependency Resolution Errors:

What is needed to resolve these update issues? Also, I suspect the system is not picking up all the updates that it should. What can I do to determine which updates the system should be getting?

I just installed Fedora 14 via live CD on my netbook. I am trying to install open office and it's saying I have conflicting files but Open Office is not installed. Yes, this is a nooby question and I'm usually quite good with Linux but this has just baffled me.

I am new to Fedora (using Constantine). I want to like it and it works nicely with on my Thinpad but there is a problem that would make me swith back to Ubuntu/Mint if I don't find a solution to it: I get dependency errors all the time missing librpm.so.0()(64bit) and librpmio.so.0()(64bit)
First I had this problem installing KDEnline and I thought, this program might be to exotic but the same problem stopped the installation of OpenOffice which is very strange. Is installing programs always such difficult for all the different packages like for Open Office? Is Fedora maybe to difficult for me as a intermediate user?

I've been trying to upgrade my installation for some time now and just can't quite get it right. I would upgrade from the DVD but the installer hangs when it says "Looking for installation images on CD device /dev/sr0". However, that's not really my question. I've resorted to the upgrade instructions as found at [URL]. If I don't use the '--skip-broken' option it complains about the following:
abrt-gui-0.0.11-1.fc12.x86_64 from fedora
abrt-libs-1.0.6-1.fc12.x86_64 from updates
samba-3.4.5-55.fc12.x86_64 from updates
samba-client-3.4.5-55.fc12.x86_64 from updates
samba-common-3.4.5-55.fc12.x86_64 from updates
samba-winbind-3.4.5-55.fc12.x86_64 from updates
samba-winbind-clients-3.4.5-55.fc12.x86_64 from updates
If I use the skip broken option, it then complains about:
Transaction Check Error:
file /usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/cryptsetup.mo from install of cryptsetup-luks-1.1.0-0.4.fc12.x86_64 conflicts with file from package cryptsetup-luks-1.0.6-7.fc11.i586

I can't seem to remedy this problem. There were other conflicts but I just removed those packages. When I attempt to remove 'cryptsetup-luks' it then tells me it's going to remove something like 200 others which did not sound like a good idea.

Say if I want to install openssh in traditional way with ./configure then make and make install which works fine in Fedora but not in Ubuntu as it gives error for a Mailer program when ran ./configure, as sendmail is by default installed in Fedora but not in Ubuntu. What I need to know is how yum/apt-get resolve this dependency problem? Is there any file in the OS where it's listed all the dependencies along with the package names like in Redhat installation CD there are some XML files where it lists all the packages along with their dependencies.

I don't know what I did, but I did something recently, as Pandora keeps getting dependency errors. Pandora is working just fine, but if I open the Software Center, it tells me it needs to fix itself before it can do anything. If I do this, Pandora gets removed. And I have an error box next to the Pandora icon on the upper right bar, telling me: An error occurred, please run Package Manager from the right-click menu or apt-get in a terminal to see what is wrong. The error message was: 'Error: BrockenCount>0' This usually means that your installed packages have unmet dependencies. And this is on a 64bit Maverick install, though it was doing the same on the 64bit Lucid install (I just did the Maverick beta upgrade today).
Also, in a terminal:
Code:
-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get -f install
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Correcting dependencies... Done
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
kdesudo update-manager-kde
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
The following packages will be REMOVED:
com.pandora.desktop.fb9956fd96e03239939108614098ad95535ee674.1
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
After this operation, 1,114kB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]?
I use Pandora desktop app, so I don't want to remove it. But I don't have any idea what the problem here is.

I'm having problems installing things like "Teamspeak" and Netsupport on my 64 bit fedora 14. Now netsupport will run in the terminal window, but won't install.
However the thing that hurts the worst right now, is "Open Office" I open a terminal window, type "su" put in the password and run the installer from a prompt cd'd to the setup file. I get back dependency errors that I don't understand. So I ran the updates and tried again. No luck. I have screenshots of the error messages in case someone could help me decode, they download to full size if they aren't read-able enough.

I've been trying to get Xmonad installed and keep running into dependency installation issues. So far, I've used slackbuilds to get everything I need for Xmonad. (I'm pretty new to linux still, but as far as I know, having 64bit slack shouldn't be an issue in running 32bit applications?)
I have-
ghc-6.12.1
haskell-mtl
The main issue I've had thus far is with the Haskell-X11 (1.5.0.0) dependency, I downloaded the slackbuild:

I try to update my openSUSE system from 11.2 to 11.3. But I stumble on the following message.

Problem: libsnmp15-5.4.2.1-11.2.1.x86_64 requires librpm.so.0()(64bit), but this requirement cannot be provided

I wonder why the library is not found at the moment. (The command "rpm --query --provides rpm" shows that it is available here of course.)
Would you like to share any advices to resolve this dependency?

I downloaded the latest version of Tellico as a .deb file directly from the Tellico website, since the version available in the repositories no longer works with Amazon. This new version has been available at the web site since November, but has yet to be updated on the Ubuntu sites.Anyway,I tried to install it by double-clicking it in Nautilus. That brought up Package Manager which says that it cannot be installed - "Error: Dependency is not satisfiable". Is there anyway to force either Package Manager or aptitude ot dpkg to install the package along with any dependencies that are required?

I have googled this and I refuse to believe the answer is "older video card" or "ubuntu". Does anyone know what boot parameters to use or how to get Fedora to start the install process in a resolution other than the "Optimum resolution"? resolution=640x40 vga=ask. These do not work. They set the debug display but when the graphical portion starts it defaults to the "optimum resolution" and the message displays "Cannot Display This Video Mode". As you consider the answer, think this is a new computer, blank hard disk, etc. I am installing Fedora 10. Tried 11 and Vista seems less buggy, prefer 10 or 9.

I have no means of interface with the internet on the machine in question until gcc is available to compile the drivers for my abhorrently incompatible wireless. My router only supports local connection via Ethernet. I have been hunting down dependencies for the past few hours and have come to a dead end. By my current path
Code:
<could not do simulate: Can't install <filepath>/glibc-2.11.2-3.x86_64.rpm as no transaction > is giving me trouble
I don't particularly care what version within reason, I just need a list of specific packages and locations to get gcc running without yum or equivalent means of downloading to the machine itself. Alternatively, a solution to my current error looks promising as I think I have all of the compatible packages for this one. here are the packages on the flash drive I have been using
