I have upgraded Fedora 13 to Fedora 15 using installation DVD. Upgrade went well, no issue. After the reboot, the system stops after following line:
Started LSB: Suspend/Resume libvirt guests on shutdown/root.
I do not have any idea what kind of problem is, also I would like to keep my old version installation.
I use Debian testing for six months and I started used it six months ago. I use apt-get distupgrade for long times , but today after apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade , my system reboot and can not boot and I see URL...and system can not , I see this errors after grub

View 3 Replies View RelatedI hadn't updated until yesturday night, today after the massive update and reboot, my x stopped working. What happens is, after the splash screen, both screens goes black and unresponsive. Tried killing X and alt + ctrl + f1 etc. I can probably fix this myself if I could access the terminal but, the other day I had to be stylish and remove everything from my grub boot besides Windows 7 and the default Ubuntu so I can't boot into root terminal. So, how would I gain access to a console before X starts?

This morning I decided to reboot when it came back up my remote stopped working. I hadn't done any updates since I build the box. Unless Ubuntu does them without asking. Here is the dmesg log

I've been using ssh for a LONG time to connect my laptop to my desktop with no problems. I use a non-standard port (nnnnn) and keys. After a power outage that caused a shutdown and reboot, I can no longer ssh into the desktop. The only changes I've made are updates (laptop and desktop both running ubuntu 10.04).

No messages are generated in any of the logs on Desktop!

My computer wouldn't come out of sleep mode, so I had to shut it down improperly. Now there's no ethernet network connection. The NIC works as I can start the computer by wake-on-lan, but somehow Ubuntu no longer sets up a network connection on it.
The green light on the NIC is lit up and blinking. I have changed no settings. It used to get an IP address from the DHCP no problem, but ifconfig now only shows 127.0.0.1.
I just upgraded to F15 and it went well. But at the next and each subsequent cold boot the BIOS reports "Your system last boot fail or post interrupted Please enter setup to load default and reboot". The board is an asus P5N-D. I press F1 to blow past the error and all is well until the next cold boot. Restarts are fine, no errors at all.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm new to openSUSE, this is the first time i try to install openSUSE version 11.4. on my IBM Thinkpad T43 (on which SUSE Linux version 8.0 has been running before without problems). I have downloaded the ISO images and successfully burned the ISO images on a blank DVD. Having placed my openSUSE DVD in the drive and rebooted my laptop I can see the boot screen.
I then select installation with arrow up/down and press enter. Choosing language and keyboard layout works fine, as well as accepting the license agreement. However, when it comes to 'System Probing' the installation stops at 'Search for system files'. The cursor shows a little turning disk but the rest of the screen is blocked.
I have problem with grub loader. When I upgrade my ubuntu I change my grub but after restart grub get error. grup_puts_ .......

At the end of preupgrade & upgrade a reboot was called for. After reboot, the only choice that appears in the boot screen is ... Upgrade to Fedora 12 (Constantine). The only thing to edit after typing 'e' is ... kernel /upgrade/vmlinuz preupgrade Repo=HD::/var/cache/yum/preupgrade->
initrd /upgrade/initrd.img
If I allow it to boot to "Upgrade" it tries to do a fresh install.
P.S. This was a lot of typing to do on an IPhone
Dell Vostro 230 with integrated Broadcom NIC.
Wakeonlan was working just fine with Wheezy on this machine. After upgrade, wakeonlan will resume from suspend but not from shutdown.
I have no problem with other machines (same software setup) after upgrade. None of my other machines have a broadcom NIC.
No BIOS settings were changed during the upgrade. If I enter the BIOS on boot and make sure settings are correct then 'save' and shutdown, without booting to debian, I can then successfully wakeonlan. Then, if I do not boot debian, but shutdown before debian starts, I can wakeonlan successfully again.
If I boot debian and then shutdown, game over: wakeonlan nolonger works.

I'm currently running Ubuntu 9.10.After I updated to 9.10, my wireless connection stoppped working. I can access the network but I get no response or what so ever in my browser.Downloading language support or any software doesn't work either.Haven't changed anything to my settings and checked the router. I tried to uninstall and reinstall VMware getting the same error. The problem i'm having is that my microphone stopped working after the upgrade to 10.10. Ubuntu doesn't seen any sort of input device any more, no line-in , no mic ( front as back ).Own on to the specs of my machine:It has a realtek ALC861-VD audio chip.2 mic jacks, 1 line-in , 2 out (front and back) and a coaxial port thing .The os is a upgraded from 10.04 to 10.10 and everything except this and my tv card sound works.I have pulse audio tools and alsa mixer ( although it broke during upgrade ) installed.alsa info is available upon request, so is any other info may you need it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Broadcom wireless card in my hp dv6500z laptop, I had it all working properly in FC9 thanks to bbfuller and his post on the subject. After I upgraded to FC11 I have been unable to get it to connect.
I can see my neighbor's sites and suppose I could see my own if the SSID was allowed to broadcast but I keep that turned off. I put in all of the setting, including the network security key, but it won't connect, then when I go back and look again, the security key is not even close to what I put in; it gets changed to a huge string of characters.
I redownloaded broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5.tar.bz2.tar and followed the instruction on the post once again but no luck, which, after I thought about it, was a waste of time because if I can see other's wireless, then the card must be working. I have tried using Network Manager and not using Network Manager and still no luck...
I am running Fedora 14. I've had an ASUS wireless adapter working for a few months now, with no problems. Today, I installed updates, one of which required a computer reboot (not just logging out and back in). I rebooted the computer, and when it came back up, the wireless adapter did not work.The adapter is visible after lsusb, but there is no wireless showing after iwconfig. What happened? I have two hard disks and i had one of the partitions mounted automatically while startup. I did that by reading the first method posted here

It was working good till i did the distribution update to Kubuntu 10.04. After the upgrade while startup, a message is displayed on the screen saying

Like many others it seems, my wireless has stopped working since a recent upgrade The answer does not lie in analysis of logs, settings etc. but surely with those who did it - they should provide a fix. I cannot believe everyone expects each individual users to go into their own analysis of why this is no longer working as it is clearly widespread. I have been using Ubuntu for 18 months without this problem on the same dual-boot laptop, and it still works on Windows as before, only Ubuntu 10.4 has recently stopped my network card from working.
I need to know when this will be fixed. I have been embarrassed by promoting Ubuntu to many colleagues who now also cannot work at home on their wireless networks. Seriously disillusioned I may start looking for a more stable alternative to Windows.
I updated my Ubuntu to Meerkat last night. everything seems to be working fine, except when i went to iplayer, it told me flash wasn't installed. I followed the link, and installed flash from APT source. In the software centre it is listed as installed. However, still cannot view flash videos.i have tried rebooting too.
