Ubuntu :: Install Downloaded Spanish Dictionary From System Internet Site?
Feb 23, 2010New to ubuntu but have use Suse 11.2 a bit. I downloaded a Spanish dictionary to Openoffice on suse with no problems. Under the tools in Openoffice word it says Languages "other dictionaries available". Click on it and it takes you to a site with all types of foriengs language dictionaries. I found the mexico spanish dictionary and it said get it. On suse it downloaded it and it auto installed it with a program in Yast I believe. Anyway the dictionary was in there when I opened office the next time.
Ubuntu is a different story, I can download it but do not know how to install the Spanish dictionary file to the OpenOffice. Is their a program included with ubuntu (gnome) desktop that will load this file and set it up in Office?

Jan 23, 2011I'm having another go at ubuntu!I have Ubuntu 10.10 running (a fresh install).I went to the nvidia site and downloaded the linux drivers for it, (it's a .run file).So I try runnig it via the terminal, it goes great untill it mentions that I need to exit the X Window system?
So I tried pressing ctrl+alt+f2 (switches to a root terminal?) and tried runnig it from there but no luck either

UbuntuA has one only interface etho and there are two openvpn instance: one bridge istance with br0 and another instance with tun0.
UbuntuA is not the gateway for networkA. UbuntuB is the gateway for NetworkB.I need to comunicate between pc on networkB e those on networkA.This is the "ping situation" (no pc tested has an active firewall):

Masquerading will work, however it will throw off anything key based and makes a lot of things just more difficult and vague in general. Is there an easy way to do this via iptables? Mar 1, 2010after the netinst finished to download the last package, one hour later the process never continues, I checked the log file and I didn't find anything suspecious, also dmesg and nothing, in fact, in the log file before checked I found that the last line was registered just a minute ago - DHCP renew IP-, so my questions are:
1. all the packages downloaded are gone?, can I restart the installation using all those packages downloaded?
2. where I can find the error or problem that cause that the installation was freezed?
3. in the case that installation needs to start from the beginning, can I use the package downloaded?
Networking :: Site To Site Vpn Racoon With Cisco Asa 5505 Routing?
Mar 25, 2010I have three locations with a central office connected to two remote locations. At the central office I run on a cisco asa 5505 two site to site vpns. The remote end of the first site is a checkpoint firewall , and the remote end of the second site is racoon on debian. Both sites are up and working. However, where at the first site traffic goes both ways, at the second site it only works from the central office to the remote office.
For example, I can ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the first remote site (through checkpoint firewall,) then ssh back from that host at the remote office to any host in the central office. In contrast, after I ssh from a host in the central office to a host in the second remote office (through racoon), I cannot see the central office hosts (ping the ip address of a central office host, ssh, etc. all fail.) The vpn settings at the central office (the cisco asa 5505) are identical. So it seems to me that some routing magic is missing on the host running racoon at the second remote office. Where would such setting reside? racoon config files? iptables?

Feb 18, 2010In the office there is a local network with samba+openldap PDC. The local domain name is company.net. The company desided to create a corporate Website on a remote hosting and desided that the site's domain should be company.net which is same as local network's domain name. So now it is not possible to reach that corporate website from within the company's local network because, as I guess, bind9 which is installed on above menioned PDC looks for company.net on a local webserver. Is there a possibility to let people from this local network browse the remote site?

If you use that, why would you bother collecting packets? Using a dictionary is basically guessing the encryption-key isn't it?

Oct 24, 2010I recently discovered that I could not get gnome-dictionary to perform word look-up on ANY of my Ubuntu systems. I discovered that the problem is not with the app at all, but with the default source; dict.org has stopped functioning as gnome-dictionary expects (and trying to get to the web site just brings up a blank web page; page source is empty). One of the threads I saw in my search provided a different source that is working. It is not as extensive as dict.org's service, but it does work.
Open the Dictionary app, then open the Preferences dialog.
Go to the "Sources" Tab and click on the "Add" button.
In the dialog that opens, change the Description to "Chemnitz Server" (at least this is what I did).
Change the hostname to "dict.tu-chemnitz.de".
I did not mess with the other options.
Once you have done this you can click the "Close" button in that dialog.
In the remaining dialog, you will see a new option for "Chemnitz Server".
Select that, and you will have a working dictionary.
dict.org can soon be returned to its proper functionality.

Mar 8, 2011Before anybody says it, no, I am not doing anything illegal. I have a problem. I have about 50 rar and zip files. Each of them are locked with one of four passwords. I know the passwords, but I don't know which password is for which archive. Since this is a repetitive task that I will have to do again in the future, I want to write a script (or find one) that will try each of the four passwords for all of the .rar or .zip files in a directory.
I believe the technical term for this is "dictionary attack" - however, my dictionary would only contain 4 words. I know some rudimentary Python. Would it be best to use Python for this or would Bash (which I don't know at all) be more suitable. Does anybody know of a script/app that already does this? I am not interested in bruteforce solutions.

Oct 25, 2010I have a strange question (maybe not a strange question for some people though). I am currently running ubuntu 10.0.4 on my notebook and have noticed that when I am typing up documents, emails, the spell check gives me a lot of red markings indicating that the spelling is incorrect. I have done some tests and it seems that a lot of words (even some well known words which I have confirmed the spelling) does not seem to be included in the standard dictionary.
This causes the applications to think that the words are incorrect and to make some strange suggestions as to what it thinks the words should be. Does anybody know if there is a later version of these dictionaries and if so how to install them?

Jul 18, 2010i just got a new internet connection from the local service provider. While installation, he insisted that i use my mobile number as the wpa password for the wifi. From what Ive heard, this is company policy. Im a little skeptical about this as ive read wpa is crackable using a dictionary if the password is in there. So i looked around and found the air-crack suite to test the security for my access point. As my password is only numeric, i couldn't find only a numeric dictionary to use with air-crack.
So, i would like to create a dictionary that has only 10 digits, and the first two digit should be "05", because thats what mobile numbers here start from. I would be really grateful if anyone could point me to a way to do this easily.

Nov 6, 2009I'm running OpenOffice.Org 3.1.1 out of the Fedora repositories. I'm using the UK locales and settings where possible. I can't seem to get the interface in en-gb, and my dictionary keeps recommending the Americanisation of words to me.
Also finally, is there not a grammar checker in OpenOffice.Org? I'm looking in the Language Settings - > Writing Aids and there isn't anything listed under grammar?
Finally, I might as well ask this in case anyone knows why. In the Writer settings I changed the default fonts to the Liberation font family however OpenOffice keeps attaching the Windows equivalents to the end e.g. 'Liberation Sans; Arial' it's really annoying and I don't know why it's doing this.
