while start following some tutorials, i face lot of problems only with nvidia-driver.for example, if i try to apt-get install chkconfig, the result will be as below:

I recently rebuilt my system and did a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04. Now, everything I try to install returns the following errors. I have tried installing the troubled packages but I get the same errors. Any thoughts?
I updated my Xubuntu 10.04 yesterday and some packages had errors on install. I think I have tracked it down to python2.6 install. I ran apt-get install mousepad just to see the errors and this is part of what it returned:
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 6 not upgraded. 15 not fully installed or removed. After this operation, 0B of additional disk space will be used. Then, I checked where it said the missing files were and found several broken symlinks like this: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 33 2010-08-09 20:34 xapian.py -> ../../../share/pyshared/xapian.py All of the broken symlinks need another ../ on the front. I was considering creating a script that will read the broken symlinks, add another ../ on the front of the target and then change the symlink target to that address.
When I try to update the computer, like with the automatic updates, every time after it's done I get an error message stating that a number of the updates were unable to actually update:
"Errors were encountered while processing:
What can I do to get those updates to actually update?
I just reformatted my PC and installed Natty 11.04; my work files are all backed up in a separate /home directory that resides on another partition separately. That partition is not formated nor erased. I tried installing git through apt-get:
[code]...
I even followed the troubleshooting procedures for PackageManager here but to the same man-db postprocessing error. Any other logs I should look at?
I have a VPS running Debian Squeeze. Today I ssh'd in to do an apt-get update and an apt-get upgrade. Some of the packages seem to install fine, however linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64 gives an error. I've tried rebooting (hoping that it would indeed come back up after a reboot and it did) but nothing has helped. Here's the output from apt:
dpkg: error processing linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64 (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 configured to not write apport reports Errors were encountered while processing: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64 E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) I also did an apt-get clean to drop the cache but that didn't help either.
I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 server on vmware and trying to install webadmin but no sucess. Tried few guides but when I do dkpg -t webadmin_1520_all.deb the terminal says Quote: dkpg: error processing webadmin_1.520_all.deb (--install) cannot access archive: no such file or directory errors were encountered while processing webadmin_1.520_all.deb
Everytime I try to install, or unistall anything, I get an error: Errors were encountered while processing: man-db There are a few different ones, but they all have that.
I have Ubuntu 11.04 and whenever I install gnome3, I will get an error during the install. Following are the details. "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade". I will always get an error pop-up and a error message in terminal saying "errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/gnome-session_3.0.1-0ubuntu~build1_all.deb" & "E:sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)" And when I reboot, I will get stuck at the ubuntu splash page and ubuntu will not load.
I am running Lucid 32-bit server P3 command line server version that began life as a 9.10-server, now upgraded to 10.04. Upgrade has been running since June, 2010. A few weeks ago, I realized that phpldapadmin was not running correctly. In finding the solution for the phpldapadmin issue, now, upgrades are giving me the following:
Code: admin@myserver:/$ sudo apt-get update[sudo] password for administrator: Hit [URL] Get:1 [URL] Ign [URL] Ign [URL]
>>>> snip <<<<< Reading package lists... Done administrator@wdnserver:/$ sudo apt-get upgrade ..... No apport report written because MaxReports is reached already
Errors were encountered While processing: grub-pc samba-common samba-common-bin smbclient smbfs E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
I have read many posts trying to find a reference to Code: dpkg: error processing grub-pc (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 10 because this started with grub-pc being the first and only package that refused to install. I have yet to find a direct reference to 'error exit status 10'. I find many other status codes, but few of 'status 10'.
Now, unfortunately, work took me away for a few of weeks and now I am getting errors for: grub-pc samba-common samba-common-bin smbclient smbfs
I have tried Code: apt-get -f install and that does work.
I have tried Code: apt-get purge grub-pc and then re-installing grub-pc still gives same error.
And finally there are many other attempts, all with the same result.
I have a post in beginners section but maybe I can find some help here.. If you do not mind, please read the following post about my problem.viewtopic.php?f=30&t=55243&p=320093#p319848

I'm running 9.10 on a Dell IM1012-6780BK netbook (very nice and snappy, btw). I was in the process of installing the ubuntu-restricted packages (apt-get was halfway into setting-up libtwolame0) when the machine locked up and I was forced to do a hard reboot. Now, at the CLI, I try to remove the corrupted package before re-installing, but I get the following errors: (they seem to be persistent, no matter what I'm trying to install/uninstall via apt-get...$ sudo apt-get --purge remove ubuntu-restricted-extras

I am experiencing the same issue, with the same package, as the user from this "solved" thread.URL...My question comes as this... the fix was to change the package name to one without underscores in it. The underscores were changed to tildas. What I don't understand is where I make those changes.Crisnoh said that he tried commenting the package out of the 'file' but that didn't work. However, changing the file name to tildas did... so which file am I supposed to be editing to change these underscores to tildas?
I'm trying to set up a PXE boot server on a PC running Slackware 13.0 using the default apps and info shipped with that Slackware version but to no avail...Carefully reading the Slackware 13.0 README_PXE I've put together this dhcpd.conf file:
# dhcpd.conf # # Configuration file for ISC dhcpd (see 'man dhcpd.conf')
New to Fedora (from Windows), I am up and running ok with packages from the repository but only half ok with Processing, the Java graphics programming front end from processing.org.Their download gave me a .tgz file which Package Manager extracted for me into a location of my choice and where there is now a "processing" shell script. This works ok and I have managed to create a launcher on the desktop. That starts ok but always with processing's default action of giving you a new and automatically named work file.In Windows an existing Processing file (.pde file) could be "opened-with" Processing. Trying to do similar in Fedora I find that I am expected to nominate an Application to open with but Processing has not installed as an application.I guess the question is how do I promote Processing to be an Application?Or is there a different approach?
I keep getting this error when I try to install Adobe flash player E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. E: _cache->open() failed, please report. I had it installed just fine, then i restarted my computer and its gone. .
