Ubuntu :: Network Manager Removed Form Panel / Put It Back?
Nov 6, 2010I was attempting to move the buttons on my panel and ended removing my network manager (did it by right clicking it and selecting "remove from the panel").
Now all i want is to put it back but i don't know its command nor where it is to use the "add to panel" feature.
Anyone knows how to put it back?
General :: Recover A Form In Firefox *without* Installing A Plugin?
Jan 22, 2011Possible Duplicate: How to recover form information for a webpage in Firefox I typed a couple of paragraphs on a discussion board, but when I clicked the submit button, the site was undergoing (un)scheduled maintenance, and the back button decided to refresh the page, sending my paragraphs into oblivion.A quick web search revealed that Lazarus provides form recovery for Firefox. However, installing a plugin requires restarting Firefox, and even after restarting Firefox (which I haven't done yet), Lazarus can't recover forms it hasn't backed up yet.Now that the horse is out of the barn, I want to do the impossible: restore some or all of the text I typed, without restarting my browser.
Edit: I should clarify. Lazarus is a wonderful solution for preventing future form data loss. This question is for people who have already navigated away from their form and lost its contents, but hope there is some way to salvage the situation. My solution was to get a core dump of the process and grep through it, but there might be a layman's way to do it (for example, somehow get Firefox to load the cached version of the previous page). Thus, solutions that only solve the problem in the future, without addressing the present, are off-topic in this question.
Ubuntu Installation :: Firefox 3.6.8 Won't Let Me Upload Files Using HTML Form
Aug 3, 2010I'm having a weird problem while uploading a file using a standard html form in Firefox 3.6.8(No extensions, except for the preloaded ones : Ubuntu Firefox modifications 0.9Rc2, mouse gesture redox 3.0.2 ). Anytime I try to upload a file whether on my localhost or at a website that offers a form with an input file, it fails. I'm just using test files, like small images. I've reinstalled my firefox, because I got this problem since 9.10 and now that I've upgraded to Lucid Lynx, I still have this issue. That's why I decided to do a fresh re-install using the same package I've downloaded previously when I did the ugprade. However, I still have the same result, the file never uploads to the server.
This happens when I use a simple html form with enctype="multipart/form-data". Though, when I use any other browser, like chrome, chromium, opera they just work fine. At my localhost, this is my code in one page, if you want to take a look, but as I say even with other websites the problem is happening too. Btw, the temp folders have written permissions (777)

Aug 13, 2010We are using several printers on our Linux RH network to print customer invoices and receipts. Receipts are short forms of just 21 or 22 lines. Two of the printers (an HP LJ1300 and a Dell 5200) eject the receipt paper automatically; the other two HP (a LJ 4200 and a LJ2420) do not eject. You have to press the green button on the printer. Is there a solution to that? They are all set up with the same PCL settings.

Jan 29, 2009I've tried Ubuntu, Arch, and most recently Fedora but the SUSE GNOME environment blows everything else away!
The only problem (so far) is that Network Manager requires you to enter your password every time you login to unlock the password keyring. I want to disable this.
I think some distros disable the prompt by using the login password to unlock the keyring, but I use auto-login (if that makes a difference).

I've now changed my password back to the original one to avoid the Network Manager prompt but I can't find where to change the Network Manager password or tell it to use my general password.
If I change my general password Network Manager asks for the old one.

Mar 9, 2011I have setup my laptop to connect to a VPN server running openvpn.
This works fine if I from the client, start OpenVPN from the terminal. /etc/init.d/openvpn start
It then asks for a password for the certificate, which is should.
I have then installed the OpenVPN option for the Gnome network manager (network-manager-openvpn), so I could use the nm-applet for this, instead.
But it seems to be that there is a little bug, so I does not prompt me for the certificate password, OR use the password this is actually set for the certificate. (kinda irritating)
I get the following error on on the client.
nm-openvpn[2936]: ERROR: could not read Private Key username/password/ok/string from management interface
It seems like an very old bug, I tried the following without any luck (Yes I noticed it was for Ubuntu). [url]
Ubuntu Networking :: Network Manager Forgetting WPA Password
Jan 23, 2010Booted up my laptop with wireless disabled (using the little switch on the laptop). I flipped the switch, network manager showed all the wireless networks, but didn't connect to any. So I picked mine, and it asked for the WPA key. Now normally (if I had booted with wireless enabled) it would connect without asking for the WPA key. So I rebooted again with wireless enabled this time, and same deal. It seems that it's just forgotten the key altogether.
I put in the key and it's all back to normal, but I'd like to know where/how network manager is storing the WPA key, and why it forgot it.

Apr 7, 2010I'm using 9.10 most recent updates. I want to connect to a wireless network and get a dialog box offering "WPA & WPA2 personal" as the only choice. The passphrase I was given is 6 letters but the "Connect" button does not light up until I get to 8 when entering wpa/wpa2.
Do I need to convert the passphrase somehow?
Atheros 9k and Linksys "Wirelss G router with SRX200".

May 23, 2011I am running Ubuntu 11.04 i386 and I installed the unity desktop by using sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop. However when I try to open the synaptic package manager it won't recognize my password. It just keeps asking me for the administrator password. I can open update manager which also needs the admin password. This is a fresh install all I have done is installed the ubuntu desktop. I am currently trying to install KDE desktop to see if it works on there. I also have had this problem on my laptop which runs 11.04 x64 desktop edition. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me? and is there a fix? also what is the terminal command to launch the packet manager? edit. It started working on my laptop a week or so ago after I did updates. So I'm not sure if the server version of unity or the packet manager is just behind? I have run the update manager on my server and it says its uptodate.

Jun 11, 2011I've got a strange issue here concerning Firefox. Of some sites i don't ant my login and password to be saved by Firefox. The question pops up (below navigation bar) i click no and it's gone. But when i go to the same website, let's say, the next day, i get the same question. This issue is not related to 1 website, it's doing with all kinds of sites i log in to.
How can i prevent that FF comes up with that question to remember my login/password even when i clicked on No, do not remember? Pleae keep in mind that some site i do let FF save my login/password, those sites are regular visited by me. So unchecking the option in preferences i rather don't want that.
Who can tell me why FF keeps coming up with that question even if i click on no?

Jan 20, 2010I routinely use somewhat spotty wireless hotspots, and Network Manager is driving me insane. Whenever there's a momentary drop, NM will prompt me for my password. I enter it, and it connects perfectly. And then 5 minutes later, it'll prompt me again. How do you instruct NM to remember a password, and stop prompting?
