When I login into my normal user account under runlevel 3, the following error message is printed to the screen:
Warning: add_groups: Invalid Argument
I'm not sure where this is being generated. I don't see the same error message when I login using root.

I am currently running slackware 12.2 on a 25 GB partition. I like to use slackbuilds, but when I try to compile larger tarballs (like abiword, or a patched version of Ghostscript as I did today) I receive an error-message: 'Not enough space left on device'. I think the size of the partition must be big enough (I never got this message when compiling with Linux From Scratch). I think it has something to do with the size of my /tmp directory, but I don't know how to fix this. Is there a way to solve the problem, so that I could be able to use slackbuild-scripts?

I'm having issues with oauth I could'n solve. Qwit gives this message "Error while trying OAuth!" and Choqok "Authorization Error: Timeout on server".
View 11 Replies View RelatedOccasionally, when startx, I got the error message: "Monitor output has changed" error message ( and sometimes it appear while I am working in X too but rarer). Whenever this happened, my screen changes to "1024x768" resolution when normally it is "1280x800". I click on "Configure", a "Configure Display" windows appear and I have to change the screen to Size"1280x800" back (since it would give me 1024x768"). Besides, the number of error messages will be up to 50s, 60s message. (This "Configure Display" is what you get when you go to "Application->System->"Screen Resize and Rotate" (KRandRTray)) My computer is Toshiba Satellite L500, the distro is Slackware 13.37. It was just installed so all the configuration is out of the box.

I am suffering from exactly these symptoms. Can anyone suggest what the likely cause is? How would that bug/solution relate to my environment: openSUSE 11.3/xrdp 0.4.1-85.1?
And lastly, how can I find out if the update implied under "Additional Information" has happened?
I been running both OS's for a few months now with no major problems besides wireless internet issues. Today, however, as I go to boot my laptop up, the Dell logo loads with the F2 and F12 boot and setup options which both work. Directly after that though I get the message "GRUB loading. Symbol '?' not found. Aborted. Press any key to Exit." then it repeats when I push a key, and then it tells me to press F1 to retry, F2 to go to setup, or F5 to run diagnostics. It passes all the tests in diagnostics. I've tried booting off of the ubuntu cd I used to load it initially with no luck. So I'm stuck at either that error message or in setup but I can't go any further, and it does not change anything when I tried to boot from the cd.

I have Ubuntu Jaunty & Linux Multimedia Studio 0.4.2. In attempt to update to LMMS 0.4.5, I downloaded & attempted to install : lmms_0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty_i386.deb and got the following error message : Error : Dependency is not satisfiable : lmms-common (=0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty). What went wrong and is there an easier way to update ? Also, should I remove the older version or just install the latest on top of it ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install ubuntu 10.10 on xp,but, after waiting around 2 hours per instalation I received a error message that says:" unbuntu installer : and error occurred: coercing to unicode: need string or buffer, none Type found. for more information see log file C:1customerlocals-1 empwubi-10.10-rev197.109. I tried on one particion make just for it then I even tried on xp on C: I even put it on a pendrive but my bios is old and do not provide for usb booting. The other thing I have to try is making a boot cd but for one reason or the other , my recorder do not want to recornized my cds- rw and right now I do not have any regular blank cds . That will be my next step. Note: Ubuntu appears installed on the the control panel "add or removed programs" but not in "all programs" list. I'm a novice on this so maybe the answer was posted but I couldn't find it. Looking ahead to try it and be part of the linux team.

After doing a check disk and automatically repaired some packages(unfortunately she doesn't remember what exactly, only just inode information appeared), she can't log in as when she types her username and password the answer is authentication failed. We tried to change the password through recovery mode but nothing happened.
1. Do you have something to propose to solve the login problem?
2. If not how can i access and back up her ubuntu documents through windows?
I tried to run Ubuntu One on my Lucid Lynx, however, when I want to start the Ubuntu One Client, I just receive a message from Login Keyring asking for a password:
The password you use to log in to your computer no longer matches that of your login keyring.
I haven't change my login password for a long time. It is still the same and it works.
However, when I put my current password below the keyring's message it says it is incorrect. When I try to change the password in in Accessories > Passwords and Encryption Keys it writes that the old password (my current one) is not correct.
What happens? Which password should I type there? I do not remember I set somewhere any other password than my current login one.

If I use console login it just turn black and after a while it get back to console and no protocol specified shows up together with xinit: giving up.
If I use root there is no problem and I can get into the desktop so it must be a user configuration problem or.....
Can advise if I want to have a alert message when a specific user is login to the system , what can I do ? that mean if a specific is login to system then send me a alert message ( by any way ) to inform me the user is login , what is the method ?
